Wow, Are We Psychic?

Last night we wrote:
  • You know it's bad when the Drudge Report headline reads "Only 1 Dead, 5 Wounded in Chicago."

No word on tonight's bloodletting. Keep an eye on the local papers for something though - we've noticed they seem to be spreading out the reports instead of lumping them together

And this morning we come home to this:

We don't know what you all think, but that CompStat thing? It's really working well. Maybe McJersey was counting on this being Easter Sunday and a bunch of the dead rising from the grave.

I can't complain about a lot of the death, hell the assholes can kill each other all they want. As for old folks and kids sitting at home, that is an unfortunate circumstance from a culture that has spun out of control.

They want to keep ignoring the facts and trying to find anyone else to blame and think that some "march" will "end the violence." Foolish.

The weather is only just starting to get nice, this isn't looking good for the year. We know the police are short handed but now I will say the fire side is too, we need more guys to hose down the streets after the mayhem.

not looking good for 008 lately. 6 shot and 2 dead in two days. second most homicides in the city. 2nd most robberies and burglaries in the city so far this year. If I remember correctly last year 008 had the largest drop in crime in every single category in the entire city... now, its buck wild. so, gary and rahm, all your resources are in 007 and 011.. looks like crime is blowing up in other parts of the city.. what do you intend to do?? There is only so much 3 tac teams and two incident teams can do gary. the watches are busy all day long with pages and pages of backlogs for nonsense jobs and have no time for proactive police work which will prevent anything from happening... If only the police department had some type of unit that could respond for a week or two in a district which has an increase in crime. If only there was a unit who was not tied to the radio and could be there to be proactive and visible to possibly quiet down crime for a little while.. hmmm, if only. I was not a fan of TRU or MSF but at least they were visible and dude knew there were too many police around... they weren't the best coppers around but still stopping cars and being visible will help deter crime... especially when you have 20 cars in few square mile area.. doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out... comstat wont do it, more coppers in cars will. screw your "strategies".. nothing will ever beat the "boots on the ground" method.

The mayor can mobilize hundreds of CPD cops and city resources for misdemeanor city park ordinance curfew violations at a moments notice -- expending tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of tax payers dollars in a blink of an eye without thinking twice or even hesitating to do it.

Not a single word about that being an efficient use of city resources/taxpayers dollars nor more cops on the beat not being the solution.

Hell no!!

Yet the mayor comes up empty for continual massive outbreaks of felonious armed assaults endangering the life and property of the law abiding tax paying citizens that is now occurring almost every weekend.

Felony life threatening crimes resulting in hospital emergency rooms going on bypass, death, destruction, and streets filled with blood.

This emperor has no clothes.

Can the twisted priorities of this establishment be any more obvious?

Can't blame the blue shirts mayor for your failures. They just follow orders right or wrong as they may be to earn a paycheck to feed their families.

In fact many if not all of them are more loyal to your orders than to the US Constitution itself.

Oh and the aldermen sure know how to mouth off to when it comes to the people that are protesting this status quo as being acceptable but their silence is now deafening when it comes to protecting their communities that they are suppose to serve.

It's obvious. It's not about protecting and serving the people. It's all about protecting the social economic elites status, power and wealth. It's about YOU not about any of US.

Is laughing at lots of crime good for us in a contract year? I don't have anything to do with the crime rate, I just respond after it happens.

If the city offers to hire more police and pay all of us less, would that be a win for us?

Why do I care how many police there are? I just handle jobs as they come. I don't work faster when it's busy. If there's a backlog or citizens have to wait that is not my problem.

I don't solve crime. I dont make crime go down. I report it and make arrests where appropriate. I don't care how much crime there is because it doesn't occur where I live, only where I work. I certainly don't care
how much crime there is in places where I don't live or work.

I don't understand the fixation with the the number of shootings by cops on the street. Those are problems for the bosses and their politician handlers. They are not my problems. The constant re-post of the Tribune crime numbers is beneath us. While I don't care how much crime there is, I certainly don't publicly laugh at the department or citizens when there is a lot of crime. Not caring doesn't mean I think lots of crime is funny.

The posts imply that more cops will mean less crime. It won't. I was on this job in the hey-day of 13,000+ and there was a hell of lot more crime back then.

Most people don't understand that this is a job. You do what the department wants even if you don't like it. If crime goes up, oh well. I don't publicly laugh at how ineffective the department is. They don't have the answer. They never did. No one does. We just respond, report it, make arrests were proper and move on with life.

If this job has become too much for some people to handle, then they should get a different job. The department is not going to change, the job is not going back to what it was, there's going to be even more bullshit and restrictions in the future, and if you can't handle it then move on. Otherwise, you'll just bang your head off a brick wall for the next 20 years.

It's real fucking simple. The CPD's manpower has be CRUSHED!!! Why doesn't the media report that? Just check the numbers. Look how many have been hired over the last 5 years and look how many have retired. The ratio is like 1 to 50 or higher. You need numbers to win the battle and we don't have it. We still get all kinds of 911 calls that all the manpower is tied up on, so there is not much left to patrol. No manpower!

Remember some of the years gone by when there were almost 3 homicides a day? Over 900 a year! Then it plummeted all the way down to 700 or so, no hue and cry. Now it is around 400 (still more than in the entire nation of Canada, population 65 million) and everybody thinks the sky is falling. There is a number below which the homicides will never go. Not until Englewood and Pullman etc. are all yuppie mansions again.

The important number is Officers killed, shot, injured etc. in the line of duty. The people who always killed each other will always kill each other. It is only important that WE go home safe.

April 8, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- "A 13-year-old boy was shot and killed late Saturday as he sat with friends on the front steps of his Brighton Park home. Roberto Luna was shot to death near South Spaulding Avenue and West 46th Street just before 10 p.m. by two men who emerged from a gangway and opened fire, police said. A 15-year-old boy and another boy, 16, with Luna were also wounded.
Roberto was one of four killed in weekend gun violence that also wounded 19 others."

This senseless murder of an innocent 13-year-old boy was reported as gang-related. This is because, though the victim was not in any gang, the two killers are, and reportedly started shooting after asking questions about possible gang membership of the victims.

The vast majority of murders in Chicago are gang-related. This incredible, ongoing tidal wave of human loss, pain and suffering will not end until local communities filled with gang members develop the inner strength to develop a zero-tolerance for any gang affiliation of an kind, anywhere, by anyone. It has to come from WITHIN. An increase in police officers on the street would definitely help, but it is not the ultimate anser. This means parents doing what they have to do, young people refusing to date or associate with any gang members, etc.

We desperately need concealed-carry laws in Chicago and Illinois. Many of the residents of these gang-infested neighborhoods who are sick of their family members getting killed, would make great community-watch protectors, lawfully carrying guns and putting fear into these cowardly killers, like the two who gunned-down Roberto Luna at such a tender age.

I challenge Mayor Emanuel to DO THE RIGHT THING and press for concealed-carry in Chicago. If such a law was passed, A LOT of the killing of innocent children would quickly come to an end. Rahm Emanuel, DO YOU CARE ENOUGH ABOUT THE CHILDREN to put their safety and their very lives, above your own selfish and demented hatred of the 2nd Amendment?

I also challenge Mayor Emanuel to sit down with the Police Department and study together the FBI crime statistics which have proven, with over 25 years of hard data, that those states around the nation that have the most lenient laws encouraging lawful gun ownership, ALSO have the lowest murder and crime rates! Mayor Emanuel has a personal police detail to protect him 24/7, but he cares nothing that the family and friends of Roberto Luna and others like him, do not even have the legal right to carry a gun in self-defense, and help to put a stop to these tragic, gang-related murders.

It is ironic that a well-known local personality stated recently at St. Sabina Church that urban gun violence is the result of some type of government-sponsored racism. I finally figured it out. That person must have been talking about Rahm Emanuel, because the conspiracy appears to be coming from right here, at City Hall, in the Mayor's Office. Mayor Emanuel, a very wealthy Caucasian who owes his political support largely to other wealthy Caucasians, is adamant about quashing the citizens of Chicago from exercising their 2nd Amendment right, a Federal Civil Right, to carry a gun for personal protection, out in public. Even though he must KNOW, after 25 years of that darn FBI data, that lawfully-armed citizens cause criminals to think twice about hurting anyone. Since Emanuel is a wealthy Caucasian, and the vast majority of the shooting victims are poor Blacks and Hispanics, it DOES appear that this may be a racial issue, after all! If all of the murder victims in Chicago were wealthy Caucasians, say, residing in the Lincoln Park and Gold Coast neighborhoods, and those incredibly WEALTHY Caucasian people living there DEMANDED to Emanuel their right to conceal-carry, do you think Emanuel would cave in?

Think about this, and then Get back to me!

He was told when he dismantled the working units.

It is almost impossible to make a dog the working police.

But it doesnt take as much to make the working police a dog!

Nice job Mac... maybe you should have thought that one out!

4/08/2012 02:42:00 PM

I can tell what kind of a copper you were just by your post. You were the smartest guy at roll call, and never on an assist.

You never had a good word to say about any one or anything, and beefed to whomever was in earshot that nobody listens to YOU.

You couldn't get or keep a partner and NEVR figured out why.

You left the job and nobody shed a tear.

The Village Voice in NYC is a great idea to expose Compstat. You can't trust local print and electronic media in Chicago. City Hall owns them. Take the truth to the Big Apple where it's already a firestorm.

The VILLAGE VOICE is the largest selling alternative newspaper in the United States with a circulation of about 200,000. Unlike the MSM, the VILLAGE VOICE has an outstanding reputation for exposing government corruption. Reporter Graham Rayman is in the running for a Pulitzer Prize.

Blah blah blah. Who Fucking cares! Let these animals shoot and kill each other. As long as it isn't happening where I live. More shootings more killings. This is the city that they wanted, cameras everywhere non-proactive police, corrupt politicians, judges with there own agenda and asa's who are afraid of there own shadow, no truth in sentencing and Fucking retarded bosses who have no business being a supervisor let alone the police. So keep treating the Police like we are the bad guys because this summer is going to be awesome. PS go fuck yourself.

Someone got the hair gel all bent out of shape.

He thinks people will be sobbing when he retires.

I NEVR thought I would read something as awesome as this reply. Talk about a hair gel pouring his soul out for all to see. It's just so pathetically honest.

I love it. The mind and soul of a hair gel for all to see!

Possibly the funniest post I've ever read!

Fear not fellow Officers...McCarthy has a plan to stop the mayhem in the city....Its called restrict all elective time off. Wait and see boys and girls something will come out from downtown soon. Get ready to have time off requests denied due to minimum staffing levels.
********************************
Didnt the court already rule that "staffing levels" and "manpower' are not reason enough to deny time off?

Rahm wants that pension reform fasttracked because the game plan has been not to hire until pension reform is legislated. At least it seems that way to me, and I believe the plan started under shortshanks. I hate politicians.

Get rid of the boxes, they dont work. Morale is extremely low because officers want to do proative policing but cant because of the boxes. Work is no longer fun when you drive around in a tiny 4 by 8 square block area tripping over each other for your entire tour.

As of 31 March the murder count is:
NYC 88
LA 79
Philly 86
Detroit 76
CHICAGO 115

Hey wait a second now, didn't NYC comstat those down by 10 by making them death investiagtion ! ! ! LOL

Gary, with the numbers looking so bad for you, shouldn't you change it from compstat to COMPOST, because that's where it is going to end up, in the TRASH.

spring has sprung early and the tulips are in bloom--- a quick ride thru the area yesterday and many people were seen bustling about with easter baskets which had been blessed at the church--- easter has always been about family--- chicago is a beautiful city and it's a shame that people who don't live here think this is a hell hole because of what the media puts in its papers--- 17 shot with 2 dead is tragic but millions of other people who live here managed to not shoot someone or get shot themselves--- they went to work, took care of their families and looked forward to a wonderful easter sunday--- g-d bless and stay safe....

the edgebrook reporter has the new commander of 016 quoted on his approach towards thwarting the current rise in residential burglaries. His plan? he wants to use patrol officers to process warrant arrests to free up the tactical teams so they can find the burglars. WHO's GOING TO PATROL? WHO'S GOING TO ANSWER THE 911 CALLS? In true MSM fashion, nobody asks the followup questions.

I know OD and he's a great guy, but when the fuck are people going to admit that we need more police?!?!?!

4/08/2012 03:19:00 PM

WTF is the Edgebrook Reporter? I don't really think they qualify as MSM! But I whole-heartedly agree!

Family crying on TV about 13 year old killed. Facebook says he is "chillin like a villan" and tv shows his phone saying "what's up sluts." bet they didn't mean to show that!
Ignorant comment. I knew Roberto "Adrian" Luna. He was a typical 13 year old. Not a banger, just lived in the hood. no arrest records or discipline problems. His brother Eric is seen holding his recent picture not a past picture. I bet when you were 13 years old u never called girls sluts or just talked like a tough guy. RIP Adrian.
