Keeping It Classy
A 26-year-old gang member has been charged with the fatal shooting of 7-year-old Heaven Sutton.
Jerrell Dorsey, of the 1600 block of North Laramie Avenue, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, police said.
Judge Adam D. Bourgeois denied Dorsey, 26, bail during a brief hearing Sunday.
Around 10 relatives of the murdered little girl stood at the back of the courtroom to watch the hearing.
They taunted Dorsey as the hearing ended.
“You ain’t gonna sleep!” Heaven’s mother Ashake Banks yelled out.
Speaking outside court, Banks praised the judge’s decision to deny Dorsey bail.
“He’s gonna eat baloney sandwiches...and the rats and the roaches (will) bite his ass,” she said.
She advised Dorsey seek to be placed in protective custody inside the jail.

While watching NBC 5 news yesterday, a photo of Heaven was shown. The picure showed Heaven with her two hands up toward her face with two fingers on one hand and three on the other extended and curled. As a citizen I don't know gang signs but this just screamed some sort of gang sign. Anybody else see it?
I assume that means "mom" has a few friends in the county who she is going to have take care of business?Any chance "mom" was selling and the bullet was meant for her?

According to Mary mitchels article, having these candy "illegal" candy stands is a way they raise money for vacation.
I can see the occasional kids lemonade stand but this was a full blown operation.
It was also stated that she wanted somewhere for the kids to buy candy. Who in their right mind has a "kids" candy stand open at 10:30pm.
I think it would be time for a crackdown on these illegal stands. Teach the yungins at an early age that you can not just resell stuff.
Glad I'm not the only one who finds this Mom's apparent lack of grief troubling. I mean, I know people grieve in different ways, and there could be an element of shock, I suppose, but the way this woman talks and acts in front of every camera she can find, you would think she just had her cable go out, not that her daughter was just violently killed. Related to the fact that she's affiliated with one of the rival gangs involved in the shooting, maybe?

1. Daughter was terrified of the violence and asked her mother to move. She didn't.
2. Ashake Banks has some jitny candy store in the front of her house.
3. The candy store is a magnet for 4CH, who I'm sure Ashake knows very well. I'm gonna guess that Heaven's daddy, uncle, cousin or brother are known VLs.
4. Ashake has her pride and joy selling snow cones at midnight with all the gang bangers hanging around.
5. Guaranteed Ashake has already made inquiries into getting that 27 grand from the state, so having the foonral and going to Disney World should work out fine.

On the night of the murder of her 7year old daughter.Mrs.BAnks was sharing her alcohol with the 19year old shooting victim ,while he provided the weed. All the while her Small child stood bye. With that being said she showed no class then.
Poor kid, in a better place now, definitively.

An interesting book titled "The Myths of Motherhood" traces the evolution of what we currently think of as a "good mother." According to the author, in medieval Europe, a high infant mortality rate, a high rate of child-bearing, and a brief or non-existent childhood (as we now define it), led medieval mothers to form weaker bonds with their children than the bonds that are considered normal in modern, 1st world societies. I am reminded of this book when reading about the circumstances of Heaven's life, Heaven's death, and the superficiality of her mother's reaction.

I have to admit, that actually isn't a gang sign. It's that silly ass "peace sign" thing that kids (teens, preteens, whatever) do now as a "cool" pose for pictures. You can probably see plenty of examples on Facebook, Myspace, etc... Even silly ass suburban girls (and bimbos in their early 20s) with no "aspirations" of being ghetto do it.
The curled fingers in THIS case are just a matter of her not closing her hand all the way. Also pathetically seen as "cool."
Society will never get better.
