More Dead Turning Up
Bad weekend numbers keep heading upwards:
- Three men were found dead late this morning after separate shootings and one possible stabbing on the South and West Sides.
- A southwest suburban girl who was shot in the head early Saturday while inside a vehicle on the South Side has died, authorities said.
These are in addition to the two others listed in the story above this one. That's at least 6 dead since Friday and it's still early on a Saturday night/Sunday morning.

- An autopsy Saturday determined the death of a 3-week-old baby girl found unresponsive in an Englewood home last week was a homicide.

Who is left to work it? And were do I get a new crown hat and 80/20 pants to be properly attired for the new day-off overtime anti crime initiative? Might as well work my day off and take money since I can't take off on other days. More money in the bank means I can retire that much sooner.

I keep wondering how the hospitals handle so many numerous gunshot victims coming in en masse? Since a lot of 'victims' are in the same neighborhoods, I'm sure they're going to the same hospitals?
Or are gunshot wounds to the arm or shoulder just treated as 'owies', bandaged up and that's it?
Any nurses from the ghetto hospitals care to chime in?
This entire thing is collapsing under the weight of corruption and greed.

Skilled Work, Without the Worker
While the many robots in auto factories typically perform only one function, in the new Tesla factory in Fremont, Calif., a robot might do up to four: welding, riveting, bonding and installing a component.
DRACHTEN, the Netherlands — At the Philips Electronics factory on the coast of China, hundreds of workers use their hands and specialized tools to assemble electric shavers. That is the old way.
At a sister factory here in the Dutch countryside, 128 robot arms do the same work with yoga-like flexibility. Video cameras guide them through feats well beyond the capability of the most dexterous human.
One robot arm endlessly forms three perfect bends in two connector wires and slips them into holes almost too small for the eye to see. The arms work so fast that they must be enclosed in glass cages to prevent the people supervising them from being injured. And they do it all without a coffee break — three shifts a day, 365 days a year.
All told, the factory here has several dozen workers per shift, about a tenth as many as the plant in the Chinese city of Zhuhai.
This is the future. A new wave of robots, far more adept than those now commonly used by automakers and other heavy manufacturers, are replacing workers around the world in both manufacturing and distribution. Factories like the one here in the Netherlands are a striking counterpoint to those used by Apple and other consumer electronics giants, which employ hundreds of thousands of low-skilled workers.
“With these machines, we can make any consumer device in the world,” said Binne Visser, an electrical engineer who manages the Philips assembly line in Drachten.
Many industry executives and technology experts say Philips’s approach is gaining ground on Apple’s. Even as Foxconn, Apple’s iPhone manufacturer, continues to build new plants and hire thousands of additional workers to make smartphones, it plans to install more than a million robots within a few years to supplement its work force in China.
Foxconn has not disclosed how many workers will be displaced or when. But its chairman, Terry Gou, has publicly endorsed a growing use of robots. Speaking of his more than one million employees worldwide, he said in January, according to the official Xinhua news agency: “As human beings are also animals, to manage one million animals gives me a headache.”
The falling costs and growing sophistication of robots have touched off a renewed debate among economists and technologists over how quickly jobs will be lost. This year, Erik Brynjolfsson and Andrew McAfee, economists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, made the case for a rapid transformation. “The pace and scale of this encroachment into human skills is relatively recent and has profound economic implications,” they wrote in their book, “Race Against the Machine.”
In their minds, the advent of low-cost automation foretells changes on the scale of the revolution in agricultural technology over the last century, when farming employment in the United States fell from 40 percent of the work force to about 2 percent today. The analogy is not only to the industrialization of agriculture but also to the electrification of manufacturing in the past century, Mr. McAfee argues.

Here is an idea. Spend more time on investigations and getting the criminals in jail and quit worrying about CompStat. I agree with the above post in that every exempt has an entire crew of people who run around like nutjobs gathering data for the compstat meetings. That is their sole job. Everything they want is a fkg rush or priority.
Problem is that everyone is sick of documenting stats and creating excel spread sheets and pie charts and binders and folders of nonsensical data. The numbers are never accurate due to human error, meaning we either fk up or we lie.
Agreed that we got more police work done with a pen, push pins, and a big flashlight.

Try going to a uniform shop and spend some of your uniform allowance on it. My co worker a nurse pulled that 17 yo girl out of the car she was in when while the gang bangers this girl was with screamed at her to save her while she preformed cpr on her in the ambulance bay. My co workers loaded her up on a cart and this nurse that pulled her out jumped on the cart and continued cpr on her till they got her into the trauma bay. Her scrubs covered in blood and not once did those scumb bags say thank you to her for what she did. That cpr brought her back long enough for her family to be able to say good bye. This poor girl never stood a chance. Those thugs she was with had tattoos all over their dam faces looking like dam fools. She clearly wasn't the intended target. They all sat their crying like babies for what. You live the life now reap what you sow. You killed that girl because of your stupidity. You do not have the right to cry.
As an er nurse it's tough dealing with the mass quantities of people getting shot and half the time the er looks like mash with all the bloody bodies laying in carts through out the er and the dead bodies sharing rooms but we deal with it than on to the next. We have no choice but to treat These scumb bag human beings and release them out to seek revenge. Maybe your lovely superintendent and our lovely mayor and president should come hang out at mount Sinai or Stroger to see what it is that we deal with and how their inability to run a department, a city and a country effects not only you guys but us in the hospitals as well.
Maybe if we stop glorifying thug life this will stop.

Obviously my finely honed sardonic sense of humor is too subtle for some folks. I have everything that is required there sport. I have tossed out at least 25 years worth of 80/20's. I haven't worn them once since the cargo pants came out. And they would have to pay me more than time and a half to ever give up my days off to go work on any initiative.
My time off is way too valuable. Loosen up a bit.
