She goes as bluntly as far as asking supervisors to change evaluations on purpose to hurt those she doesn't like and making changes that go against our contract. You would think that after such a revolving door at IAD, they would put someone that is not a lawsuit walking around.

I think that 009 had a great and outstanding commander. It is NOT his fault that the homicide rate is so out of control, its a war zone at that district. But, it is the fault of the judicial system that we have in place and all the settlements that the ciy gives out. When criminals are caught, they should be going to jail for a very long time and maybe then when deprived of their freedom not just a few months, but hard core years. Maybe then they would think about changing their ways. But, they laugh at the little time they get and that the city always settles. That's why that district is defenseless. And no matter what face you put out there to lead that district, the problem will continue.
Good for staples. Hahaha to Gorman and Schmitz and Ogrady - your gang and drug shit wasn't working. Only thing that could be better is your commandhood to be dropped.

What's more interesting is that it appears that neither Alderman O'Connor (the Mayor's "floor leader") or Ald. Silverstein (who Rahm stumped for during the election) had ANY input at all into who was getting 020, even if he is an actor. I don't think an XO from the far south side would have been one of their top three choices ....

Maybe 11's game of holding themselves down on traffic stops all tour to avoid radio calls will serve as the new MTU work model. Top dog works a lot of plain clothes MTU secondary, and the partner is on five FOP committees, so they're the ones to ask.
LOTS of CTA vehicles failing to obey traffic ordinances, AND they all have valid licenses.
MUCH easier to process than Juvy fare jumpers with the added benefit of 3-hour lunches.

Ahhh Kristine Coleman......when she was a court Sgt. she tried to deny me a continuance on a gun case. I was on days , gang team, had a gun case at br. 42 and the judge found probable cause and asked me for a good day for the trial. It was the first few days of the period, on days and I asked for a date which was my RDO. The judge then continued it to said date but when I went to sign out , Sgt. Coleman was not happy since I had the case continued on my RDO. Well she then told me to wait, and had the case file presented before the judge in order to change the date to a day when I was working so I would not get any OT. Well when rhe judge got the file handed back to him he was not happy. The judge made a point of asking me if the original date was good for me and I said yes, but Sgt.. Coleman told the judge I was working days and it should be continued on one of the days I was working. Well the judge went off on her saying his ruling was final and that the date for the officer was final. So I then re-signed out and wrote in the continuance date. I'll never forget how Coleman thought the money was coming out of her pocket. It's bosses like these that have ruined the department.

None of this matters unless they have adequate manpower to supervise.

Shi did not get dumped. She is the X/O in patrol. She retains the rank of Commander and works for a Deputy Chief or Chief. Just like Carrothers Lopez, etc. Still commanders just in a different place. Take some time to learn the new rank structure of the department.
Maybe all the cars on 3rd watch in 020 are gonna be shuffled around now that MOY is gone.. all her special people that have cars and hang out in the station all night on contact cards for 2 hrs may now have to step it up and actually do some work..oh and blabbing on the radio all night doesn't count.

A good test taker doesn't automatically equal a good boss. And being promoted by merit doesn't automatically equal a bad boss. Having worked for supervisors in both categories I can say there are ball less pussies in both categories, and there are competent supervisors in both categories. I for one hope to do well on the next sgts test, but if I don't I wouldn't turn down a merit promotion if I was offered one.
The current superintendent has only used a fraction of his merit picks, this is a good thing. I hope the process/Criterea is defined and explained for the next exam. Just remember this, when you take the test, and this has been explained on every test in recent history.....the merit process will be in effect. It is not a surprise to anyone, and shouldn't be.

I've worked for plenty of these bosses and it never ceases to amaze me how they got there in the first place.

Moy was demoted from commander to lieutenant and then promoted to captain and XO all at one time.
And she still gets a city car with free fuel, but now she has days and weekends off, not a 24/7/365 schedule like a commander. Think about it. She actually got demoted to a better job with less responsibility. Amazing. Just fucking amazing. Incompetence rewarded, yet again!

for the most part I agree with your post. Dave was a good guy... but in the past 6 months or so the crap from compstat and mccarthys was getting to him and you could tell that. He wasnt the same dave jarmusz he use to be. Hopefully him going to mass transit gets a little bit of weight off of him and calms him down for a little bit. For Gorman, he is a great boss, was a great copper, great sgt and great Lt to work for. If your in 009 and you manage to piss him off then that's completely on you. Joe is a great guy to have on your side and is a friend to the police. He will not tolerate guys doing nothing but sticking it up his a** doing nothing. He is not a fan of tac teams driving around just looking pretty as a few guys in the 009 tac teams are notorious for. If you work and take care of him then believe me he will take care of you ten fold. hes a quiet guy, he wont yell and scream at ya and he is a get the job done kind of guy. stay on his good side, hes a great guy to have as a friend and boss. hopefully the guys and gals in 009 dont screw this up because they just landed a great guy.

kennedy, yes he has lived a charmed life. Especially when he was a house mouse in the dept chiefs office for years. His daddy was a well connected commander who ran the 1st and 18th districts along with the swat teams etc back in the day. little kennedy although a nice and pleasant guy to talk to has no experience even as a POLICE OFFICER let alone to run gang investigations who commonly do pretty complex investigations involving alot of federal rules and someone who has "know how" should be in that spot. A house mouse taking over that unit could be a bad thing.

I was on days , gang team, had a gun case at br. 42 and the judge found probable cause and asked me for a good day for the trial. It was the first few days of the period, on days and I asked for a date which was my RDO. The judge then continued it to said date but when I went to sign out , Sgt. Coleman was not happy since I had the case continued on my RDO. Well she then told me to wait, and had the case file presented before the judge in order to change the date to a day when I was working so I would not get any OT. Well when rhe judge got the file handed back to him he was not happy. The judge made a point of asking me if the original date was good for me and I said yes, but Sgt.. Coleman told the judge I was working days and it should be continued on one of the days I was working. Well the judge went off on her saying his ruling was final and that the date for the officer was final. So I then re-signed out and wrote in the continuance date. I'll never forget how Coleman thought the money was coming out of her pocket. It's bosses like these that have ruined the department.

The "motivation" of police officers has nothing to do with who the Commander is. It has everything to do with having a decent contract, ability to use time due when needed, adequate manpower, functioning vehicles/equipment, etc

To 1204/2012/0424PM. Yes Kolman was commander of traffic, but just a brief time. Cline moved her to 013th because she couldn't handle the media if question about loop traffic problems. This was around 2005/2006. Worest boss 013th had lots of people retired because of her crap.

Wrong again. She may have sat on the Traffic Review Board when you appealed your accident (they take exempts from the field each month) but she was never in Traffic as a commander or commanding officer. I was there for 22 years. Those words suit me. And besides ... who really gives a shit?
