Injured Cop At Home, Resting

Good news:
  • A decorated Chicago Police officer was released from the hospital Monday afternoon after a robber shot him while he was taking his young son out of a car on the Southwest Side.
The 34-year-old officer was shot in the arm and the chest. He suffered a broken wrist, but the bullets missed vital organs, a police spokeswoman said. He was treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The officer, who is married with two children, received the Superintendent’s Award of Valor in November after he shot and killed a man who was holding a knife to a child.
The wrist injury is going to be the difficult one to come back from.

No word on leads on the shooter.

Glad to hear the Officer is home. Likewise, on Trib website, glad to hear Adam Sage reacted swiftly to potential cop hater comment, and turned comments on this story off within fifteen minutes of being notified of such. I'm from CPD family, complained to Adam, and got immediate results. Giving credit where credit is due. They are apparently more aware of anti law enforcement agenda within comments, and don't allow comments when a cop here is a victim, and if for some reason an error is made and an anti CPD/CPD hater comment slips through, they shut it down as they did this evening. I was impressed with the respect shown. Also, Adam showed genuine interest on any CPD family type story. his byline is on this story via the Trib link on SCC home page. And no, I'm not him. I'm from CPD family. Just nice to see the support from Trib.

Bless you, brother, and I hope your son and family recover from this also. True justice will prevail. I didn't meet CPD quota requirements in the '70s so was stuck on The List. Went with another dept. (no residency requirement). When CPD did call, the old-timer told me that I was better off staying put. The writing was on the wall even back then. Shitcago is gone. Residency has to go to keep any semblance of civilized municipal service.

Superintendent’s Award of Valor in November after he shot and killed a man who was holding a knife to a child,,,,,,,hopefully somebody is checking out the friends and family of the POS that he shot. This may not have been a robbery attempt.

I am THRILLED that the PO is doing well and I hope for a FULL recovery for him, and his child who had to witness this. I have not had the pleasure of meeting this young Officer but the people I know that know him, speak nothing but highly. WE need him back in due time. Until then, my family sends our prayers out to him and his family.

I also wanted to say thank you to the Oak Lawn Police Department who came to assist. Although it did not mention it in the news article, I'm sure there might have been a Bedford Park or Summit car there as well. It is appreciated. I worked in 8 a long time ago — it is a HUGE district with not enough police for the West end.

So thank you to the other agencies. I have NEVER had a problem with any of you, and the majority of us on the CPD have not, it is always the few who come on here to complain.

Please know your help was appreciated — you deserve to know that much.

Back each other up - ALL of our brothers in blue, whether it is navy blue or light blue, and may G-D bless us all.

NOW, It's time to start advertising the $10g reward for info on shooting a CPD member. EVERY squad should have the bumper sticker that states this reward and this department will not get them out. A few more LODDs ????? Is that what it will take? And our illustrious Sup is from NYC where they have had this for 30 years. COME ON FOP !!!!!

...with police, fire, city worker collecting the rent?

:-)

"Background" is a good thought, though. No matter what kind of building, people in there. Hate to find someone sitting on the couch watching TV forever. No one else hurt = good deal. Thank God.

Yow. Holidays are walleyed-on-plastic-bottle-Dmitri-and "tic"-time (remember "tic?" Sales pitch -- It f__k you up) with every imaginable and unimaginable horrible family conflict boiling to the surface.

The famous That's MY Candy Dish killings. Be extra careful, all.
