Wish Granted

  • The detectives say they granted the 6-year-old boy’s first Christmas wish early when they were able to arrest his grandmother on abuse charges.

Area Central Detective Joseph Mancilla said that at first, when the boy was asked what he wanted for Christmas, he said, “I just don’t want my sister to be beaten anymore."
Grandma got locked up for Child Abuse.  The thing was, she had custody after her own daughter (kids momma) had lost custody for.....wait for it.....Child Abuse.

So the detectives are trying to give the kids at least one decent Christmas:
  • [Detective Joseph Mancilla and Detective Pamela] Childs plans to have a cake made at a bakery she goes to and the detectives will be delivering presents there on Christmas Eve.

The detectives plan to put together a trust for the children, and anyone who wants to donate a gift, clothing, shoes or other items can drop them off at the Wentworth District front desk at 5101 S. Wentworth Ave.
We can't be Santa to all the kids, but here and there?

Best wishes to the Detectives and good luck. Merry Christmas.

The incompetence of DCFS has been well known for decades. This seems like a broken record : bad investigators, poor management, no follow-up, forged signatures, false reports, etc.etc. Wht cant the State do something and clean this agency up? I know they have a lot of work to do, but I just dont buy that as an excuse. These are children, young children and , at least at this age, are innocent and need to be protected. Maybe it is time to bring back residential dorms.

Little kids can't help what hand they've been dealt in life. Maybe the kid will be a thug when he gets older, but maybe he won't. Maybe the kindness shown by the detectives will show him some hope for a better life. If he turns out to be a thug, maybe he'll remember the police were kind to him at a point in his life and maybe he won't be a police fighter. We don't know how things will turn out for this innocent little boy. Why not try to give him a little something nice. Where can we donate?

You prick, this might stop him from shooting a cop one day. You'd be surprised what caring for someone can do for their life. Will this make him a model citizen when he grows up? No, one event can't do that. Can it have a long lasting affect that affects how he sees and treats cops in the future. Maybe. I don't care about all the times I get ignored and these kids and dumb adults don't heed my words. I do care about that one little jagoff that hears me and fifteen years later says "That cop saved my life." We all have someone who said or did something that had a huge impact on the rest of our lives. I don't do it because I expect they'll listen. I do it because that one little kid that took it to heart, it was worth dealing with the smartasses and determined degenerates to get to that one. I love my kids and as a result I don't like to see any kids suffer.

THESE kids will only have those things due to the kindness of others. Emphasis on KINDNESS.

I concur with the sentiments of several posters when I say I'll also pass on any type of donation.

My kids also need clothes. And Christmas gifts. And an orthodontist. And catholic school tuition. And costly extracurricular activities. And the taxes paid on the house in which they live that has lost 40% of its value.

I'll be getting out of bed 5 hours from now to work at my side job, outside in the cold and on my feet, before heading to do a tour on 3rd watch all in order to provide for mine.

Ain't no one helping my kids but me and Momma. My kids have gradually become second rate citizens to illegals and ghetto savages in many aspects of life, so I'll be damned if I'm gonna donate in excess of what my tax dollars already provide for the 51% of assholes that didn't pay income taxes last year.

Not everyone who lives in the ghetto is a thug. I don't expect everyone to give but there are those who are willing and able to help the less fortunate. This boy did not ask to have and open case with DCFS nor did he want to be placed with an abusive grandparent. In a wealthy neighborhood, some little brat with working parents is asking for an I phone while this young man just asking for is sister not to get beaten up. Nobody is being forced to dig in their pockets and give their money away but lets have some compassion in our hearts to give this boy something so he could have a merry Christmas. As a former DCFS worker, I know it took a lot of courage for this boy to step forward and tell the police what is happened to his sister.

Bingo!!! The braindead liberal suckers will respond that you're ignorant and cold hearted, but reality (should) teach us that what you write is the truth. I, like most Ameicans that are finally waking up and smelling the coffee, am tired of paying the frieght for those that don't contribute a fucking thing to make this motor churn. And using kids as a tool to guilt the immpresionables into opening their hearts (read: WALLETS) is itself despicable. While I'm not in any way advocating child abuse, I'm keenly aware there exists a TON of programs, services, goods and assets that are available for people/kids in situations just like this. The non contributors have more at their disposal than the grunts busting their asses everyday, and it needs to stop until someone figures out how to control the rampant fraud and waste associated with these programs. Kids that depend on welfare for most of their formative years are the same jagoffs you'll see 10, 15, 20 years from now gaming SSI because of asthma or - my favorite - "I gets a check cuz I cants read right". DCFS, Link, midnight basketball leagues, after school programs exclusive to ghetto kids, "free" breakfasts and lunches, "free" backpacks and school supplies, etc, etc, ad naseum all have the same thing in common: THEY'RE FAILED SOCIAL EXPERIMENTS AND A MEANS TO KEEP IGNORANT PEOPLE DEPENDENT ON GOVERNMENT TO KEEP THE DEMOCRATICS IN OFFICE.

This kid needs to meet the Grinch for a wake up call before be also gets too comfortable at the public trough.

I remember a while back I went to post office and did the Dear Santa letter thing. I picked the boy who only asked for a winter coat. He was ten and lived in the heart of the 11th district. When a kid that age asks only for a simple gift like a coat, he needs it. I got him a coat, hat, gloves, pants, stuffed a Christmas stocking with candy and I got him some games and toys. My boss let me take the squad over there even though that's not my district. The little boy was so overcome with emotion and sobbed with joy, he couldn't speak. I don't tell this story to pat myself on the back because I don't believe in talking about good deeds. I tell this story because there are good kids that live in the awful areas where we work. These kids can't help it that some of them are born to shit parents who don't care about them. Leave the politics and all other crap out of it. They're innocent kids and a little kindness shown to them is a wonderful thing.

Nice story. And then his Mama sold that coat for 2 bags of rock.

And 10 years after that I was responsible for his first adult CB number for slinging blows on Ohio and Central Park. His pockets contained the dope boy starter kit: a LINK card and $980 cash money.

How sick and disgusting some of you are. A person caring about two abused kids that are five and six doesn't make someone a liberal, it makes them human. This has nothing to do with being a conservative, being a liberal, race or being a police officer. To accuse little kids of being savages is pretty disgusting. What does a six year know about paying taxes, politics, playing the system and getting free shit? Yes, I'm a cop. I'm not liberal, I'm white and work in a bad area. l will always go out of my way to help an innocent little kid whether it means buying him a coat or some food. I don't care what color the kid is. It's a kid you idiots. Say what you want. I feel sorry for you that you can't distinguish between innocence and the true scum we deal with. Thank God those two detectives and other officers can.

The average six year old in the ghetto knows plenty about playing the system and getting free shit. If you had more time on the job than the six year old has on Earth and were really cognizant of what goes on in that "bad area" you work in, you'd never had submitted such an asinine post. My next two checks, overtime and special employment checks say you voted for Obama...TWICE. Take your white guilt-fueled compassion elsewhere.

It's time you removed your head from your ass before you agree to take a cut in your pension so the sponges can maintain and increase their entitlements.

I know you think you know everything, but unlike you, I can tell the difference between a true shit head and a decent person who isn't as lucky in life as I am. I agree with the first poster. You are a sucker and YOU GOT PLAYED BROTHER. And I'm a black officer that grew up in those "bad areas" that you say you work in so I'm more than comfortable saying it again: YOU. GOT. PLAYED. Like a fiddle.

I lived all around and in it for the first 26 years of my life until I came on the job. You are naive and do know that what you see and speak of regarding what these conniving people are truly capable of. Those folks are actors without the academy awards to prove it. You musn't have much time on the job yet, but some day you will and you'll look back and see just what a chump you were for taking the bait, especially around Xmastime.

The ONLY way you'll ever know that your hard earned money actually went in someone's stomach because "I'm starving, homeless and haven't eaten for 2 days" is when you buy that brother a burger and have him eat it in front of you. Quit giving that hype $5 "for food", dumb-dumb. And if you're feeling charitable, check on the elderly in YOUR neighborhood. The elderly have more than likely led a productive life and actually contributed to and deserve a freebee here and there. Bring them a roasted chicken from the store with some side from the deli. Shovel their snow. Give them a ride to the doctor or church instead of watching them wait for a bus. Offering charity like this in the ghetto is pointless as those folks are pretty much a lost cause.

And one more point: these same folks that you bend over backwards for? They LAUGH at you when you leave and make fun of the fact that they played you, complete with racial epithets. FACT. A policeman shouldn't be so oblivious to reality, sorry pal. Time to take your head out of the sand.

Not sure how any of you assholes compare a six year old saying he doesn't want his sister beaten up to a ghetto rat. Don't know how you tell a six year old to go fuck himself instead of buying him a sandwich when he says he's hungry. I'm actually quite conservative, I'm just not a dick like some of you. I actually believe the west and south sides get enough help from the government, but a six year has nothing to do with that. Why am I wasting my time arguing with someone who doesn't have the brain capacity to get it.
