Out of Touch? Whoops!

  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday denounced as “wrong-headed” and a danger to Chicago a federal appeals court ruling that tossed out Illinois’ ban on carrying concealed weapons and gave the General Assembly six months to make it legal.

    Emanuel said he has spent his entire public life doing battle against the National Rifle Association and he’s not about to stop now, even though federal appeals court judges have put state lawmakers on the clock.

    The mayor portrayed the justices as out of touch and urged them to come down from their ivory tower and experience the terror that Chicagoans feel in neighborhoods held hostage by gangs.
This from an asshole who lives surrounded by men with guns. An out-of-touch dilettante who made millions collecting a crooked paycheck for what was essentially a "no-show" job. A "man" so paranoid that he freaked out and removed members of his security staff over a bag of tomatoes left on his front stoop. This asshat is going to tell judges to experience the "terror" Chicagoans feel in their neighborhoods....

....wait a minute. "Terror...in neighborhoods"?

But Crime is Down. Everywhere. We heard McNumberCruncher saying so the other day. And the other day. And the day around that other time.

Which is it Rahm? Crime is Down? Or Daily Terror in the Hood?

You're a hypocrite either way.

Rahmmy and the top cop are sending us mixed messages. We are so confused.

Crime is down yet the ex-mayor demands an entitlement of a taxpayer provided security force, certain aldermen demand entitlements to a personal security force, and the mayor himself demands a personal taxpayer provided security force.

Hey CRIME IS DOWN YOU TOLD US!

At the same time the Top Cop is telling us that the people of Chicago are ENJOYING a historically low crime rate.

Well if that's the case the entitlement reforms that the politicians are talking about should start right here with these personal security status symbols.

We'll call it entitlement reform and we demand that the people wanting to hang onto them share the "we are all in this together' theme that has been promoted by giving up them up.

You really were never entitled to them in the first place.

What are there... about 313 million Americans with about 13 million of them living in Illinois, right?

This arrogant mo-fo suggest that 300 million people in the other 49 States are wrong and he's got it right.

Even as it's not the other 49 States that are living in terror and chaos it's the people in Chicago under Rahm's leadership that live in terror -- and that terror can and is used as a tool to enhance the political power structure and build a larger empire.

If anyone is skilled in the use of fear and terror it's the political apparatus. Fear of guns, fear of the "Fiscal Cliff", fear of what the other political party is going to do to you.

The terror for most people here begins in the Downtown Tower of Bullshit and extends to Washington.

Use the fear to create a crisis, then don't let the crisis go to waste. It's exactly how Hitler worked and anyone who has studied history can see it here.

Go build us a $55 million dollar Maggie Daley park Rahm, that'll fix everything. You say that you are for "the children" ? Well at the end of the year when the homicides are over 500 for the year we challenge you to go back over the stats and tell everyone how many of those homicides are below 25 years of age. Over 50% we'll bet you.

No, we will not look at your distractions. Look at the mess you are creating.

Blah, blah, blah.

He said this when Chicago's draconian gun law was overturned.

This guy is either out-of-touch or ridiculously arrogant.

I mean, who else would run for mayor, knowing how much of a hole Daley had dig through his fiscal malfeasance?

It would be political suicide.

Hopefully, it will be.

It would be great once the CCL is finalized if all the gun companies in America had a conference here. The public would be invited, they could learn about handguns and the different models available. The companies could offer specials on certain carry and conceal models. You could have people speak who have used Carry and Conceal in real life scenarios. You can have children ,whose parents are around because of Carry and Conceal, to speak as to how gratefull they are they still have parents.

Obviously Rham, Lisa, Richie, Madigan and Quinn would all be invited.

Here's the real issue.

Who is being held accountable for writing these Illinois laws that are unconstitutional?

This political lawmaker incompetence is costing us money!! Money that could be spent on education, schools, healthcare, jobs, city services, etc...Hell maybe even money that could be returned to the taxpayer as rebates or to lower taxes!

But oh, no-no-no.

The aldermen, mayor, governor, state lawmakers have a budget mentality to use it or lose it.

If the lawmakers should stop writing laws that challenge and fail the Constitution test how can they possible justify and increase in their budgets to pay for more lawyers to defend their work?

This money... that is stolen to create these Constitutional challenges that time and time again fail is coming out of all of our so-called entitlements that we have paid into and will never get back.

It comes out of the pensions when they skip payments. It comes out of the 401K's, IRA's, and savings plans as the FOMC and US treasury play games with interest rates that end up devaluing our savings. The state tax increases pay for the lawmakers failed challenges as tax breaks are shifted back and forth between the state and fed to cover up what's going on.

Yes, let's cut the taxpayers entitlements so that we have money to hire more law firms and expand the law departments, transfer the wealth, feed the politicians egos.

The people that wrote these laws should be held accountable.

We elect lawmakers and should expect them to know and understand the rules of engagement. What I mean by that is, that if there is anything that the lawmakers should be versed in it's the Constitution.

The people that are writing these laws and pushing these laws and voting in favor of these laws that fail to pass the Constitution test need to be held accountable.

Private industry would NEVER stand for failed performance like this from their employees. Why should we accept it.

STOP PISSING AWAY OUR TAX DOLLARS!

The Illinois State Senate has 59 members while the House has 118.

177 lawmakers in the Illinois General Assembly plus the governor.

Which ones are writing and which ones are voting for these unconstitutional laws? Why does the Governor not read what he signs and say hey guys.. this is not going to hold up. We're going to get lawsuits and lose money here.

They are incompetent unwilling or unable to do their jobs. Do they even care if the laws they are writing will pass the Constitution test or is it -- what the hell it's not my money let's just pass it and see what happens. See if we can get away with it.

Besides, look at all the time and money for court costs and such that will have to be spent to challenge it. HAHAHAH. The jokes on you Chicago...Illinois. You don't like that law? Wait till you see the next one. We do what we want and don't have to answer for it.

Stop putting the people in office based on their good looks and/or who raise the most corporate campaign money! DO they even know what is in the Constitution?

I can just imagine the furious phone call Rahm made to BHO.

BHO would be telling him as he lit up a Newport, "Now calm down Rahm my man. Don't worry about the Constitution we're working on that."

Rahm, "But I'm afraid of people with guns."

BHO, "Don't you have enough bodyguards?"

Rahm, "Well yes, but they are Chicago cops and I can't trust Chicago cops."

BHO, "Maybe I should send you some Secret Service, or maybe you could get some Fruit of Islam boys to work for you."

Rahm, "What are we going to do?!?!"

BHO, "Don't worry; it won't be long before I can put Eric Holder and a few others on the Supreme Court."

Rahm, "Wow, that can't happen soon enough."

BHO, "Not only that I've got Hillary working on a treaty with the U.N. to by-pass the Constitution and just make private ownership of firearms illegal—PERIOD! And I’ve been building a Homeland Security army ready to come in and get all those registered gun in civilian hands."

Rahm, "So let it be written, so let it be done."

Daley hates guns, and yet when Mell forgot to register his DOZENS of guns, the anti-gun mayor made a ONE TIME grace period so that his little alderman could get them registered and be legal again, only to vote against guns for everyone else. HYPOCRITES!

Unfortunately, those packs of out of control savages have been herded together by community organizers of the communist persuasion and vote in greater numbers than the decent, hard working Americans that are left in this city. The end is already here.

The terror comes from gang bangers drug dealers and repeated convicted felons that dont give a shit of what a law is and want to terrorize the community. I let a round go into an adjacent phone poll and they all ran off. I told my cousin about what happened and he told me that Chicago has a gun law. I laughed and said he had to be mistaken. I said it's unconstitutional that we have a right to bear arms. Well much to my surprise I got arrested the next day as they saw where I left and the tact team interviewed him and he gave me away. I asked my attorney how could this be? Well the assholes got arrested the day before the court date (go figure) and the case got tossed then I got my record expunged 3 years later. I became cop a few years afterwards and have been in disbelief over this law ever since. I tell all my non police friends fuck that law and pack a gun and tell them what a joke Cook County is and to at least have one gun at home. Most have taken my advice. @SecondCityCop- As a LEO, are you a supporter of CCW permits?"

September 12, 2012
The vast majority of working law enforcement officers in the United States support the Second Amendment right to bear arms and plan to vote for presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney this fall. That's the findings of a survey conducted by POLICE Magazine this summer.

A total of 19,000 subscribers to the PoliceMag.com e-newsletter On-Target were given the opportunity to participate in a survey covering gun control, politics, and police operations. Of that base number, 2,387 responded, a total response of 12.6%. Of the respondents, 74% were active sworn law enforcement, 15% were retired sworn law enforcement, and 11% were not law enforcement officers.

Gun Control

Respondents showed little or no support for increased government restrictions on gun ownership. Only 10% of respondents said they believe stricter laws on handgun ownership would increase or enhance public safety.

My thoughts exactly, SCC. Rahm and Daley want guns to be illegal in this city, yet they're surrounded 24/7 by men with guns. And by the way, how are those gun laws working out? Because every time I log onto the news there's always a count of how many people were shot overnight.

Yet I go walk my dog and if I get surrounded by a bunch of gangbangers or a person looking for trouble, I'm on my own??

Fuck you, Rahm. Fuck you.

All other 49 states have concealed carry, and we have the highest murder rate due to illegally obtained guns in the hands of convicted felons!! 9.5 and Father Pfaker need to get their heads out of their asses. The only people that will be negatively impacted by concealed carry are scumbag criminal,s that might get ventilated if they attack law abiding citizens. Crime will go down, put that in your McCompstat and smoke it!

In Response to the 7th Circuit's decision striking down Illinois' ban on the carrying concealed weapons by law-abiding citizens he stated:
“This ruling runs counter to not only common sense but what every police chief in the country thinks, which is we should not allow more guns on the street.

HB148 is one of several bills currently pending in the Illinois Legislature to allow honest citizens the Right To Carry after showing proof of proper training and undergoing a background check. HB148 has been formally endorsed by:
The Illinois Association of Chiefs Of Police
The Illinois Sheriff's Association.
The Chicago Police Department Sergeant's Association
The Chicago Police Department Lieutenants Association

I think the Mayor needs to do his homework. I also thinks that the media also needs to do a bare minimum of research to provide balance before printing such wrongheaded statements.

OK !! It is obvious that the democratic political class does not want firearms in the publics hands, period, let alone any concealed carry laws. So, OK! Then no armed bodyguards for anyone, alderman will not be allowed to carry concealed handguns because they claim they are " peace keepers", and no elected offcials can work as " security guards" and send Trotter to prison for one year which is what he demanded in the legislator. What is good for the public is good for the political class.

"There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a decent person is no threat to anybody - except bad people."
Charleton Heston

Rahm believes if everyone is carrying guns that it's going to be the wild west in Chicago. What he doesn't realize is the shitheads already have guns and they're going to use them regardless of a Conceal Carry Law.

His refusal to hire more police is good reason for Conceal Carry so that the decent people of this city can protect themselves against the bad people.

I guarantee you that after a few good people put down some bad ones the shitheads are going to think twice about robbing someone. Look at Texas. You don't see them on national news every other week because there's so many homicides.

Forty-nine other states can't be wrong.

Also note that 7th Circuit Judge Ann C. Williams cited the draconian New York City law (pp. 46-47) in her lone dissent in the 2 to 1 decision.

Also, pay particular attention to the comments of NYPD ranter "ryanpax".

Given the family background and the context and connections, I can't imagine that he wouldn't.

Considering his "schedule" and lifestyle and so forth, I would read it as nothing ugly -- some engraved "Executive Grade" presentation .32 in a little walnut box, that kind of thing -- but that's just me. If he's covering for some kind of inadequacy, there could be anything in there. Snarling at self in mirror w/knife between teeth and ammo belts criss-crossed, etc.

How many anti-gunners have been found to be strapped, over the years? It's a whole laundry list.

"Peace activist" Jane Fonda in an NVA helmet, squinting AT MY COUSIN AND YOUR DAD through the sights of that quad 12.7 DshK antiaircraft mount...

I knew Rahm and Lisa "Egghead" Madigan would be burning up the wires about this. Just days ago, State Sen. Toi Hutchinson -- our local lipstick display -- was suddenly going on about how "Chicago and Cook County need to be strong and tough" on gun laws (because of so many of her demonstrably crazy and violent constituents) -- but that "other parts of the state might be OK with different laws."

Toi visibly doesn't have the brains to do anything but parrot her users. This is just that old "cities of one million and over" split they've been working for years, to try to keep Chicago a gunless-except-for-criminals fiefdom.

Boy, everybody grabbing for that JJJr seat -- "I got gold here! Gold!" It's a scene right out of Reconstruction. Unseemly, to say the least.

I'm just "out of touch." I was in the Woolworth's right downtown when it sold guns...Marshall Field's (huge stuffed grizzly bear, gunsmith on the premises), the old Abercrombie and Fitch when it was a gentlemen's store...

Then came 1964 and sequelae -- "the things that came subsequently."

A bag of ANYTHING should never have been left on his doorstoop unnoticed and undocumented by any officer assigned over at the Mayor's residence that day, period. Call it what it was; somebody dropped the ball, and heads rolled. Would it have been any more acceptable if those guys were guarding one of our fellow policemen's homes, protecting him/her and their family from harm? I rest my case.

Policing will become easier because all the thugs will think twice before jumping on someone who just might pull a 9mm or .38 on them.

Mark Brown cited in his Sun-times article of 12-12-12 that since 2007, there have been 499 deaths nationwide at the hands of people with concealed carry permits.

He did not make clear if everyone of the deaths cited was a result of a non-justifiable shooting.

It is a very important distinction and he should have made it clear. But, given the agenda, it's obvious why he did not.

Let's assume each shooting was not justifiable.

That translates in to an annual average of 100 deaths by persons with a concealed carry permit -- nationwide --over the last five years.

The last couple of decades, Illinois has had the most restrictive gun & spray paint possession laws in the country.

For the most part, the only people that have guns (aside from law enforcement) and spray paint, are gang bangers and the criminal element who don't follow laws, period.

Good citizens who insist on exercising there constitutional right under the second amendment in spite of the wrong headed liberals who ignore the constitution and pick and choose laws they will enforce (sanctuary city) are made law breakers in this parallel universe known as Beruit on The Midway or Chicago.

This one city, Chicago, is the murder Capitol of the USA with over -- five -- times the deaths in -- one -- year that Mr. Brown cited -- nationally -- over five years!

The reason for such a situation in Chicago isn't for EASY access to guns.

It's because the criminal element chronically ignores the laws of society and preys on others. And, in Illinois, the criminal element is enabled by virtue repeated early prison release.

Derrick King and light sentencing is just one example of the State, understaffed, underfunded & mismanaged CPD being unable to protect citizens outside there homes.

Rhamulans think a local, national or worldwide ban is the answer.

The U.S. tried something like that and Al Capone came to power.

If there was worldwide ban on guns, criminals would still get them.

Remember the UN ban on Saddam Hussien's Iraq being sold weapons and he got them anyway from Russia and France, for oil?

There is always a seller and as Howard Hughes apparently once said, every man has his price.

The concern that with concealed carry shoot-outs would occur in lines at at Chick-Fil-a is such brainwashing.

If that were true, we'd see it in the States with concealed carry and CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, the Times, the Tribune and the rest of the sippy-cup media would be reporting it 24/7.

When seconds matter and the police are tens of minutes away or sometimes longer, Rahm, Mark Brown, Bob Costas and those on the Sun-Times editorial board may want to fight for their lives on their knees while being attacked by an armed predator, but the law protects the rest of us from having to do so.

We have a constitutional right to bear arms without agenda driven restrictions.

Nothing is going to stop the nut-job segment of society from fullfilling nut-job killing fantasys except incarceration, the State and State agencies doing there job at the highest level of competence and citizens exercising there constitutional 2nd amendment right when the latter doesn't cut it.

So, what is the agenda of people like Rahm and such a fanatical gun control stance in light of the facts?

I've thought of it a lot and I believe it is a matter of dependency and submission.

I believe the Rahm agenda is to pussify Americans, make them dependent & subservient to the state. 180 degrees opposite from the model our founding fathers built.

That NYC CC gun application makes a good templete for an application for citizenship, drivers license or being a Mayor, Alderman, Congressman, Chief of Staff of any politician or POTUS.

Now the gangbangers can have legal easy access to guns by having their girlfriend get a license.

You'll get over it.

You have taken on a great weight, a huge responsibility. Enter into this with the attitude that no mistakes are allowed.

* Off target, off trigger. Finger outside trigger guard unless firing.

* Watch your muzzle.

* Watch your background.

* Know condition of weapon. Be consistent.

Read and study --

* The manual for the weapon. Again. And again.

* In The Gravest Extreme, by Massad Ayoob.

"Any rooster breaking into my place will be turned into a hen in short order."

...and don't go around talking like that.

Best wishes. Really.

You're off by a mile. Two more words:

Chuck Norris

Chuck Norris doesn't stop crime.

Crime stops when it sees Chuck Norris.

"If any of you actually believe concealed carry is going to make policing easier, you're in fucking dreamland."

It won't make it any harder. Prior to coming on CPD, I worked in a state where concealed carry has been allowed for years.

I never had any difficulty with anyone who lawfully carried a gun.

Don't kid yourself-just because it's legal doesn't mean everyone will run out & buy one.

To this poster...you damn well better know when and if you are allowed to use deadly force . If you do not have the knowledge of what constitutes a deadly force situation you will join bubba and enjoy a warm cell . There is no room for error as posted by someone else...and there is no place for cowboys either. Be very careful and wise with this responsibility . This is a very good read.

Mark Brown cited in his Sun-times article of 12-12-12 that since 2007, there have been 499 deaths nationwide at the hands of people with concealed carry permits.

He did not make clear if everyone of the deaths cited was a result of a non-justifiable shooting

~~~~~~~~~~
That so-called study had been proven to be just plain wrong. Some of the deaths were by permit holders who used knives or their cars. SOme that were counted were in states like Vermont or Alaska where no permits are required. The list of wrongly counted deaths is long.
That is true. It just doesn't register with some people at all. Don't bother with 'em, you'll just get a blank look.
The reality-disengaged and the mechanically-disinclined select themselves out in this way. That's OK with me, I guess.
The anti gunners will keep reciting horror stories and the awful things that will happen on the streets of Chicago if citizens can have concealed carry. But, as the federal appealate court has so stated based on briefs filed by both sides in this issue, no such evidence exits in any state that has had concealed carry. And, the so-called study that the sun-times quoted in which hundreds have been killed by people carrying concealed falls into this catagory, as just no true.
Acevedo is the democratic front man for banning guns in the state. But, he is a police officer ( at least in title if you know him). and he carries a gun. The vast majority of citzens will never apply for concealed carry.
From long experience -- DON'T SHOW YOUR NEW TOY AROUND.
Otherwise, your neighbor's nephew's kid's friend's no-good friend WILL be rooting around the dresser drawers in the master bedroom during the graduation party.
Happens in the nicest households.
Extreme example of the "telegraph" --
"In Cold Blood," Kansas 1957, the Clutter family wiped out root, stem and branch in an armed home invasion triggered by a jailhouse rumor -- spread by a disgruntled one-time hired hand -- of a "safe filled with cash" that simply didn't exist.
Sshh.
