Off Duty Carjacked

  • An off-duty Chicago Police officer was carjacked Monday night in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The female officer was in the 9000 block of South Crandon about 9 p.m. when three men — one of them armed — confronted her and demanded her money, purse and SUV, police News Affairs [...] said.

The three robbers took her purse and fled in her white 2012 Buick Enclave,...

The 58-year-old officer was not injured and her weapon was not taken,...
We don't know what you think, but we're pretty sure McFailure's "obliteration" list is getting kind of long.  Maybe too much so - maybe we ought to start hiring people at some point that actually exceeds the rate of retirements.

Is the increase in crimes against off duty officers decreasing? Or, is the increase still increasing? If so it must be a failure of a commander and will cease if that boss will receive a tongue lashing and the next patsy in line assigned to take over his/her district. yeah, that's the ticket, another new commander who will order his/her officers to stop all crime immediately or else face the firing squad themselves.

Gotta hand it to old Anti-Crime McBourbon, he sure knows how to get the least from the most.

Seriously, be very careful out there, it is certainly getting dangerous. Time to be wearing your vest on duty and off and two guns at all times with one in your hand and a spare magazine readily available. I don't know why anyone would still be toting a revolver. Shoot six quick shots and it's party over old timer.

Be careful and alert, be safe!

So why has a certain convicted and imprisoned former judge, Judge Paul Foxgrover, heavy in 19th Ward politics (think Vrdolyak) been seen sitting silently in court during hearings on a case at Daley Center involving 8 Chicago police officers and the former campaign manager for Dorothy Brown?

Says nothing, does nothing, just makes sure he is seen by the sitting judge on the case, walking in with the defendant and sitting by her.

Some type of 19th Ward message trying to be sent?

Be careful out there, the Feds might be watching.

Why does the paper always omit the race and basic description of any offender?

It seems 20 years ago the media always gave the basics. Now we don't even get the race of the offenders!

Who gives a fuck! is the race that important to you, as opposed to a COMPLETE description, you racist asshole. One of ours got shot, off duty, geez, it's more important things to worry about fucknut!....Get well Officer!

*****************************************
This is from the officer shot comments, ARE YOU SERIOUS? 80% of the "complete" description can be changed in minutes and over time more can change, race isn't one of those. It's an extremely important part of the description and leaving it out is careless and in poor judgement. We ALL have a race not just the poor "black and brown" people, if the offender was white say he's fucking white, if he's black or Hispanic, say he's black or Hispanic.

gmac doesn't care about the manpower shortage--- gmac is just worried about one person, himself--- another north side commander just got her wings clipped because she had the audacity to ask gmac for more manpower in her district--- some of the slower districts have had manpower whittled down to nothing--- it's right there on the sheets for all three watches everyday for anyone to see--- the xo's know it, the dss's know it, the sgt's know it, and the coppers on the beat/rapid cars know it--- everyone knows it so why no bid openings to replace the dozens of retirements in some of these districts--- the answer is that gmac doesn't give a flying f$#k about the patrol division....

In case you dont already know, the UScourt of appeals in Illinois has ruled the laws in Illinois that prohibit concealed carry are unconstitutional and it gave the Illinois legislature 180 to craft a new law allowing concealed carry. WOW! This changes everything. Quinn and Rahm and Trouter and Acevedo will have a seizure and will no doubt tell tall tales of impending doom and blood baths on the streets of Chicago.

THIS JUST IN… Federal appellate court rules Illinois gun carry laws unconstitutional

Tuesday, Dec 11, 2012

We are disinclined to engage in another round of historical analysis to determine whether eighteenth-century America understood the Second Amendment to include a right to bear guns outside the home.

The Supreme Court has decided that the amendment confers a right to bear arms for self-defense, which is as important outside the home as inside. The theoretical and empirical evidence (which overall is inconclusive) is consistent with concluding that a right to carry firearms in public may promote self-defense.

Illinois had to provide us with more than merely a rational basis for believing that its uniquely sweeping ban is justified by an increase in public safety. It has failed to meet this burden.

The Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Second Amendment therefore compels us to reverse the decisions in the two cases before us and remand them to their respective district courts for the entry of declarations of unconstitutionality and permanent injunctions.

more

As I've said before. Time to expand that space for the cities law department under Rahm's $12 million dollar city hall renovation plan.

He's gonna keep pisssing money away on constitutional challenges and appeals -- the lawyers are loving it!

U.S. appeals court strikes down state's concealed-carry ban

The state of Illinois would have to allow ordinary citizens to carry weapons under a federal appeals court ruling issued today, but the judges also gave lawmakers 180 days to put their own version of the law in place.

In a 2-1 decision that is a major victory for the National Rifle Association, the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals said the state's ban on carrying a weapon in public is unconstitutional.

"We are disinclined to engage in another round of historical analysis to determine whether eighteenth-century America understood the Second Amendment to include a right to bear guns outside the home. The Supreme Court has decided that the amendment confers a right to bear arms for self-defense, which is as important outside the home as inside," the judges ruled.

"The theoretical and empirical evidence (which overall is inconclusive) is consistent with concluding that a right to carry firearms in public may promote self-defense. Illinois had to provide us with more than merely a rational basis for believing that its uniquely sweeping ban is justified by an increase in public safety. It has failed to meet this burden.

"The Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Second Amendment compelled the appeals court to rule the ban unconstitutional, the judges said. But the court gave 180 days to "allow the Illinois legislature to craft a new gun law that will impose reasonable limitations, consistent with the public safety and the Second Amendment as interpreted in this opinion, on the carrying of guns in public."

Illinois is the only state in the nation not to have some form of conceal carry after Wisconsin recently approved law.

"The (Illinois) legislature, in the new session, will be forced to take up a statewide carry law," said NRA lobbyist Todd Vandermyde.

The lobbyist said prior attempts to reach a middle ground with opponents will no longer be necessary because "those compromises are going out the window."

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office is reading the just-issued opinion and is unable at this point to comment about the prospects of filing an appeal, a spokeswoman said.

Seventh Circuit Invalidates Ban on Carrying Loaded Guns in Public...

"Majority on divided three-judge Seventh Circuit panel invalidates under the Second Amendment an Illinois law forbidding most people from carrying a loaded gun in public.

Circuit Judge Richard A. Posner wrote the majority opinion, in which Circuit Judge Joel M. Flaum joined. Circuit Judge Ann Claire Williams issued a dissenting opinion.

Update: The majority opinion concludes: “we order our mandate stayed for 180 days to allow the Illinois legislature to craft a new gun law that will impose reasonable limitations, consistent with the public safety and the Second Amendment as interpreted in this opinion, on the carrying of guns in public.”

There are no more safe areas in Chicago. Crime can and will happen anywhere these days. Just think, in the last few days crime has been happening to off-duty cops. And if it can happen to COPS, what do you think is happening to the citizens? In the downtown area just a few days ago, around State street by the subway area a group of twenty African-American teenagers were acting like idiots shouting this is our city, we run this town. So much for a regular citizen not feeling intimadated going shopping during the Christmas season. I'm sorry for what is happening to our city, it USED to be fine. I'm moving out as soon as I retire......such a shame, but it is out of control. So many issues....too little time to fix em all in my lifetime.

off topic: Just read on the Slum-Times site that he 7th District Court of Appeals just threw out Illinois' ban on concealed carry and gave the state 6 months to draft a concealed carry law. It doesn't pertain to me as I have my retired PO concealed carry permit but now legit people, including my loved ones and yours, now have the option of being prepared to lawfully defend themselves. Eventually the law may pass for Illinois, but both the state and city will make is so difficult to get the permit, many people will not get one
They can do it with forcing long and expensive classes, expensive qualifications, many other ways
Just like retirees having to pay $75.00 and qualify every year in Joliet in order to carry a firearm.

I may be considered a junior by some(20+ yrs) and agree with old timer. Revolvers don't jam, thats why I carry one. Plus they are much lighter and easy to carry all day, without having to pull my pants up every 20mins, with the weight of the semi.
Don't get me wrong , I do carry both and each has its place, but I prefer the revolver.
Practice and you'll never need more than 6. Because if there's that many rounds flying and you havent hit your target, your game will be over no matter what you carry.
