Ban Basketball!
A shooting following a basketball game between Morgan Park and Simeon results in one death. Reading about the incident. one has to wonder why these schools are allowed to meet at all:
- The university released a statement Thursday morning saying it was "deeply saddened by the tragic shooting death."
“(Chicago Public Schools) periodically uses the university’s athletic facility to provide a neutral setting for student sporting events. This is the first such incident to occur on the campus of Chicago State University where CPS students have played many times over the last three years," the statement said.
"Additional security is provided by the university and all external partners during high school sporting events. Arrests have been made and university officials are awaiting the outcome of a full investigation to learn details about the shooting incident.”
"Neutral setting?" So this wasn't unexpected it would seem.
And then we get this comment:

- Per news reports: There were over 40 security personnel at the Simeon basketball game, including on-duty CPD and ISP. For one basketball game? Really? My kids play basketball and there is 0 security at their games and no one has ever gotten shot?
Forty security guards? For a basketball game? Sorry, at this point, the risks and costs outweigh any benefit of actually having a "game." And you know that taxpayers are on the hook for all those costs. Hopefully, not for any creative wrongful death lawsuits though.

These schools have going at it for a few years now and its the same old b.s....... the coaches say its a school thing....my ass...it is and will always be a gang thing...wake up c.p.s and bosses......they knew this was gonna happen due to all the so called security they had. Forty police at a HS regular season BB game! Games are about 1.5 hours, figure 30 minute before and 30 minutes after ( perhaps longer). So this game easily cost taxpayers $100,000 ( well now more with the death).
Many suburban games have 2 - 3 off duty cops, perhaps 1-2 on duty and more at end of game.
Private schools usually zero, unless traffic is a problem.
40 guards ? There are less guards at a prison yard bob game.
Once again, those that contribute nothing of use to society require most of the resources we provide with our tax money. It probably cost $6000 in security/police salaries for this game. The 40 security people probably pay more in federal and state taxes than all of the spectators combined. I bet the spectators receive more in benefits from the governments that supply them with their livings than those 40 security people pay, also. People that receive aid from the government are very expensive.
what a sad and horrible group of people that attend these games. I fucking simple school sport and they can't even get through it without complete savagery. Disgusting!

When a juvenile screws up for the second time he should be sent to camps until he is 18. He will be disciplined, taught how to be a responsible human 24-7. Then he will be released to Society. Otherwise this problem will only grow because we can't make abortion mandatiry for antisocial people.

Lets see, my kid, who goes to a suburban private school, basketball season is coming to an end. I only seen one security guard at a game and that was when we played an inner city private school. Other then that no security at all and no incidents.
Oh wait, there was one incident. Another parent and I accidentally bumped into each other. We both apologized and excused our selves them smiled and went about enjoying the game. Hmm, makes one wonder, doesn't it?
Lets see, kid killed was 17. Same age as Trayvon Martin. Where is the outrage from "If I had A Son" Obama? Sharpton, Jesse and Fr Flaky? Where are the busloads of "protesters" clogging the roadways into Chicago?. What's the difference? O wait....he was killed by members of his own race, nothing to see here...hypocrites all!
I work at Simeon, Thurs and Fri $extra$ CPD personnel were at the schools thanks to twitter threats of more violence. The Basketball coach is the dean, many of the players are assholes and don't receive any punishment. Since CPS thinks there's too many suspensions many students go without receiving any discipline. The kids know it too and take advantage of how little consequences there are to their actions. Not much learning going on. But, blame the teachers.
They have already announced that the remaining games between these teams of Rhodes scholars will be in an empty gym. Does anyone think that even that will keep these assholes from fighting? Could someone, anywhere, please publicly say what's happening in certain segments of our society? Please?
Hard to believe, but two of the sports with the least physical contact, soccer and basketball, have some of the most violent fans there are. Maybe that is the problem, maybe if they started checking or tackling that would quench the bloodthirsty violence of the fans.
Bring back the Gladiator games.

Basketball and football have turned into thug ball. I barely watch anymore and they haven't gotten a dime of my money in well over a decade.
I think Nike should gps all the shoes they sell in the hood. If the shoes have gps this would solve the problem after the shooting. Police would not have to chase the shooter. Just simply follow the gps after he shoots and runs so we can follow him to his bat cave.

And don't any family members come crying about little Tyeshawn going away for so long on only his 8th offense at age 19 and it don't seem right he be gone to prison for 10 years for Class Z Agg Batt with a gun. Save those 8th grade graduation pictures for that is all you will see of the little thug monster for a long time.
And they should expect to get housed at some prison facility at the opposite end of the state from where they come from.

The players started the fight during the end of game team handshakes. No where is it mentioned that any of the palayers were arrested and charged with battery or banned from the team. Both of these should be done for starters. And, play the games right after school with only students allowed in or better yet, no one in the stands. When you have to have a small army guarding high schools during sports events then time to change course.These " students" are the reason for so much violence in the black neighborhoods.
When will the lawmakers, preachers, social workers, do-gooders, gun banners, and the associations to reduce handgun violence, realize that violence is not generated by an inanimate object, such as a gun, knife, bat, or broken bottle, but a people problem rooted in deprivation, upside down values, cultural deviations, mental illness, and anger?

Not all cops (I hope). Watch the video that had been posted when this happened. The "Security" looked useless. Probably works for some sham company run by the "Reverands"
Remember this murder for the yearly totals. It happened in the city but because it was on school property, ISP is handling the investigation and pulled the ISP RD number for the murder.
We have to ban basketball in Chicago, no other way.

Armed guards are already in many schools, certainly all CPS high schools. I knew every school principal on my beat and tried to visit each school at least once a week if not more often. And I was armed and in uniform.
I see nothing wrong with armed police or other qualified security personnel inside our schools. In fact, I have felt for quite a while our schools are vastly under proteted.

The amazing thing is not that so many shootings have happened inside our schools but that more terrible attacks by organized terrorists have not occurred.

I don't HERE stuff like this at any game. Go back in history about 16 years ago to the huge melee in the Brother Rice gym when they were playing Thornton. I went to Morgan Park as well as some friends who transferred there from Rice and vice versa. I never saw anything like what happened at Rice with Thornton happen at my school. Are these shootings much worse? Granted. Also granted, the offenders are adult men and the shooting happened off site. If you did not go to CPS you may not understand the varying degrees of danger when you play sports in "neutral" arenas. The last incident was also a shooting and that was at Gately. The shootings did not happen at the schools because everybody is not coming to those games because of the disadvantage if you're not from there. EVERYBODY shows up at Gately or Chi State because there is an even playing field. It's nobody's "house." There are plenty officers that actually come from CPS that can tell you straight up what it's like being a CPS student. A lot of you guys sound like those 90s gang pamphlets talking about putting your right hand in your pocket to represent.

One politico alder may have set precedent to develop a "settling" reward system for a few law firms friendly to a spouse which like most activities unchecked has morphed. Afraid it would take decades even if "freebie society" returning to basics to be able to have and enjoy H.S. games/dances, skating rinks w/o the bangers showing up. CPS has no problem saying "gang" when talking about which schools to close and which to keep, the discussion was all about turf. "Close one school and the students will have to cross another gang's territory and go to a school controlled by a different gang."

I came through CPS K-through-8 and never ONCE saw a SINGLE Chicago police officer in our school.
That's as real as anything else.
A safe street says as much about the people there as a dangerous one.
So what is this appalling defect today that there are FORTY cops there and STILL kids getting blasted? And maybe people trying to talk their way around it like it wasn't there isn't helping any?

Games for Schools in high crime gang areas will unfortunately(& by unfortunately i'm referring to the good people parents etc) have to be closed to the public. This is not the first time this has happened. Savages willing to do drive-bys at funerals will kill people at sporting events also. Not worth it to have crowds financially or in lives lost for a fucking game.
If only McStreetlightKilla had gotten Derrick Rose to do a commercial with him, aimed at curbing gun violence in the black basketball watching hoods this "tragedy" could've been averted...and the community would all willingly turn into witnesses to help put these ruffians into cook county for ten days...or probation!

Yes they are related, but cousins. Micheal McNabb is a known gang member and convicted felon.
Why does he have a gun? This is a good case for repeat offenders violating gun laws, and the real target for gun control. Not law abiding citizen.
License and register all basketball players - that's the only sensible answer!

Looking at the video it's clear there was a brawl on the court. If st. Pats brawled during the handshake, the brothers would clock the players and then kick them off the team. That's why you don't see these altercations when pats plays Norte dame.
