- Chicago police made several arrests Saturday evening following another “wilding” scene instigated by young people along the Magnificent Mile. Photographers shot chaotic video of police officers and vehicles swarming Michigan Avenue near Huron and detaining several young people around 7:30 p.m. Some of the disturbance leaked onto Chicago Avenue near State Street on a relatively warm night with temperatures in the 50s.
Chicago Police News Affairs confirmed officers arrested “a number of offenders” and said charges were pending. Details weren’t available.
But community activist Andrew Holmes, who happened to be shopping with a relative in the upscale retail district, described a scene in which hundreds of young people misbehaved, with some of them harassing and attacking people on the street.
“They assaulted a Chicago police officer who was on a mounted horse. And all of a sudden, they assaulted the citizens walking the streets – just normal citizens shopping, enjoying the weather,” Holmes told CBS 2’s Chris Martinez. “I caution those parents if their child has been arrested … You need to think about your child. Just don’t say the Chicago police picked on your child, when we watched all the assault going on, especially by teen women.”

I have worked ten days in VRI. My partner and I talked about this sort of stuff happening. He said "it's only a matter of time until these idiots just go out up on the north side and create havoc".
The city and the Mayor are playing games with public safety. Our department does not have enough manpower. In most of the north side districts, manpower is down by 40% to 55%. The city is playing games with public safety. The solution is simple; hire enough police officers so all districts are fully staffed. I remember on midnights in my north side district we had all cars were 10-4, a traffic car, two wagons, rapid response units, etc... Now look at most of those districts. Enough said. Mr. Mayor hire more police officers.
What they don't get is that Chi could be lost if this does not stop. No matter what it must be stopped and stopped now.
No race card here just good common sense is what is needed. Lock up the thugs or else. No other city has this shit except Chicago. None! Good citizens like me are thinking of getting out of what is becoming an abyss of criminal behavior with no end in site.

Most of the students from CPS arrested tonight did not care they were arrested, but if their school was going to be notified of the arrest. Why does CPD not notify the CPS of an arrest of a student? We have mandatory notifications for other arrestees? Most where concerned about if their school was going to be notified of the arrest, because they would be in “real trouble” (because being arrested is not a big problem, I guess). The school the arrested attends is a part of the arrest report, who notifies the CPS that the Valedictorian just got locked up? The Media seems to care if a CPS student is the victim of a crime, but never seems to care when they are the offender/arrestee.

With a crowd this large I would guess the ones who weren't sprayed or spayed enough would beat you to near death if not kill you outright. Maybe a gun will help, so I hope you don't take public transportation cause your Dem leaders have decided your life isn't as important as these future voters', and have attempted to bar legal carrying on CTA. I live in the 18th district and State/Chicago is a few blocks off from me. It's one of the few places in the Mag Mile area that I'm very apprehensive to go to. The "youths" act out of control and I'm worried about my own safety. And if I do something to defend myself, I'm afraid I'm going to be the "racist" who attacked the "honor student."
I do have little faith that my Alderman and the Mayor will actually do something. I do think some tourist will get stabbed/robbed/beaten this summer.

I was downtown last night taking a break from visiting the wife who is on the cardiac floor of Northwestern hospital. After a long and stressful day of dealing with that family issue I went to the Corner Bakery restaurant across from the Galter Center with my daughters to grab a bite to eat. I sat next to the window around 7:30ish?? I watched as police tried their best to move a mob of about 40 future registered democrats. It was sickening on many fronts. First only 2 officers on bikes trying to deal with that crowd. Being off duty I was in civilian dress but ready to jump in if those two bike officers got overwhelmed. I had to tell my daughters to run back to the hospital if I had to react. Second, a family from Germany was sitting behind me (I learned a bit of German from my military days) and what I could loosely translate was "I'm never coming back to Chicago, this looks like Soweto" great experience for our "guest" ones that spend money and stimulate the local economy not destroy it.
I was quite embarrassed as everyone in the restaurant kinda looked at me strange, fearful even. You see, my daughters and I were the only black people in the restaurant at the time.
After several minutes of watching the events a wagon and beat car showed up, the crowd, seeing MORE POLICE began to back away from the bike officers. I hope no police got hurt and I'm glad the animals didn't force my hand.
Fuck Rahm. Fuck The Bowery boy.

Tuned in to Chicago scanner and first thing I pick up is Dispatcher saying, "Move them to the Red Line platform...Move them to the Red Line platform." From Dispatcher reports they were evidently all over the place, Chicago/State; Chicago/Clark & Chicago Dearborn.Then, I heard another voice come across the radio saying, "They won't go. If they won't go, lock 'em up."
Few hours before it all started walking West from Chicago & Chestnut at Michigan Ave. & seeing all the people, the mindful people walking about, I thought to myself, "Cops are going to be really busy tonight, the shitbirds will be out."
Oreilly, had a neighborhood meeting in our building a few months ago and he made a couple of asinine comments that really stood out. One, was if you're worried about being attacked, call 911. Two, he said he was working to address complaints about homeless in the area that some people in the neighborhood were complaining about. I commented it was my opinion calling 911 was useless because if you feel that threatened you might not even be successful getting off a call before a beating or being seriously attacked before help arrived. I also pointed out to him, in my 17 years living down here, homeless/panhandlers (the authentic ones) are rarely serious trouble makers, it's the predators that come up on the Red Line.
He sat there smugly and didn't respond.

Most of the students from CPS arrested tonight did not care they were arrested, but if their school was going to be notified of the arrest. Why does CPD not notify the CPS of an arrest of a student? We have mandatory notifications for other arrestees? Most where concerned about if their school was going to be notified of the arrest, because they would be in “real trouble” (because being arrested is not a big problem, I guess). The school the arrested attends is a part of the arrest report, who notifies the CPS that the Valedictorian just got locked up? The Media seems to care if a CPS student is the victim of a crime, but never seems to care when they are the offender/arrestee.

home owners woke up to car windows/mirrors smashed, damages to garages, houses, lawns and private property..apparently a van full of PUNKS decided to do a little wilding "BURB style"....this apparently is happening more and more on the out skirts of Chicago....no arrest made!!!!
