Murders Right On Pace

If you hop over to the Homicide Tracker at the Tribune's RedEye website, you can see that we're right on track with homicides this year.

What's that you say? McBeanCounter is claiming at massive dip in the homicide numbers? Sure he is - from 2012 to 2013. But if you compare the numbers for 2013 to 2011, a year that was more "average" in terms of daily temperatures, you see that the number of killings is almost directly on par with each other:
  • 2011: Jan (28); Feb (25); Mar (22) = total 75
  • 2013: Jan (43); Feb (14); Mar (16) = total 73
The 2013 totals aren't official yet and the Homicide Tracker is a few days behind, only updated to 28 March, so we may have missed a few killings. 2013 might be a bit bloodier than 2011 once all the totals are entered.

As we have stated before, trends cover years. Just comparing to last year doesn't make any sense if last year was the aberration - and based on Tommy Skilling's historical record, 2012 was odd in terms of warm weather and contributed to 52 killings, no matter what McLookAtMe says about it.

Man fatally shot outside northeast Ohio church

Police in northeast Ohio are investigating a shooting outside a church that left one man dead after an Easter service.

A member of the Hiawatha Church of God in Christ said the man was shot soon after Easter services ended, around 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Joan Crockett said the man knew the shooter, and that a suspect was taken into custody.

Don't know if you knew this yet or not, but Compstat now does not count crimes until the report is "approved" therefore, if a case happens on Saturday and doesn't get approved til Monday, it will be counted as a Monday crime. I don't know why they changed this, maybe to spread crime out (statistically speaking) over the week?

Redeye is good. Heyjackass.com is better and updated in near real time. We're showing a total of 101 shootings in March where 14 were deadly. 2 of the deadly ones we're the CPD shooting from mid-month.

2013 is slightly out pacing 2011 75 vs. 72. At this point in 2012, we were at 121, mainly because of a ultra-deadly and very warm March.

"The "victim" was shot by a gun going off".

This is reporting ???
The gun went "off" ???

Was it pissed sitting alone?

Was the gun a gangbanger?

Maybe we should send our guns to therapy?

or, let cease fire clean them and check out their autonomous mechanisms.

good job , as usual, channel 7

These murder reports are just another smoke & mirror game the libtards and the media like to play. Until the citizens of Chicago have a) have the brains to read between the lines and b) grow a pair and start speaking out and voting against the bullshit then nothing is gonna change. But wait, over 50% of Chicago are on government assistance so NOTHING is gonna change.

Turns out it was his son:

ASHTABULA, Ohio — Witnesses say the 25-year-old man accused of walking into an Ohio church and fatally shooting his father after an Easter service Sunday was yelling about God and Allah after the killing.

Police say Reshad Riddle walked into the Hiawatha Church of God in Christ in Ashtabula and killed his father, 52-year-old Richard Riddle, with a single shot from a handgun Sunday afternoon.

Pull you calculator out and add it up!

What are we getting in return?

54 school closings, community mental health centers closing. Library's closing and hours cut. Layoffs, healthcare cuts to medicaid and medicare. An ever money losing million dollar Taste of Chicago fest and gangs ruling the city.

Like we do not need to invest in our future by investing in schools or taking care of the people that put in their time and played by the rules funding their health care?

HELL NAW.

What we need is a $56 million dollar Maggie Daley Park tribute and a $100 million dollar river walk tab for the elite clouted ones as a symbol of their great power and wealth.

If you're sick. Go to Maggie Park and die. If you're unemployed because the school system failed. Go sit in Maggie Park to camp out and beg.

Is that park and river walk gonna make the city so attractive to business that they will no longer demand tax breaks to stay here? Hell Naw. Is that park and river walk going to attract enough tourist suckers to fund the $161 million dollar a year and climbing corporate tax breaks? Hell NAW.

Non-stop tax breaks for corporations in excess of $161 million dollars a year in an extortion for jobs theme.

Seriously add it up. $7 bil. in income tax, $1 bil in tollway fees a year, $220 mil on various Rahm fees, $41.7 mil., $25 mil...

You or I may not pay all of them but where is all this money going?

Ya wanna pay 87% more in tolls to drive to chicago to pay 800 times higher parking rates to have you car windows busted out by a mob of ass clowns so you can eat a $10 turkey leg at the Taste. Hahah. well come on down then STUPID.

If you're not up for that the mayors given you a choice. Pay double for your train fare into the city and get hit in the face with a padlock wrapped in a sock while your phone and purse/wallet gets ripped off on your trip. Chicago's version of an "E" ticket ride at Disneyland.

They're not done. WTF people?

In the late 80s, Easter Sunday was one of the worst days in the 1st District. When the shows were still open the Gang bangers would come down to show their colors. That changed after shows closed and the loop was kind of down hill. Channel 9 news stated at 12:00 pm on 01APR13, No One was injured. Funny that the guy that was showed on the news being treated by paramedics, on the Saturday evening news was forgotten. And what happened to the mounted Officer, hope he/she is OK. How many other injuries were unreported or now hushed up? God Bless You all.
