Robbery Hoax
- Chicago police have discredited a 68-year-old woman's claim that she was robbed of tens of thousands of dollars of jewelry during a brazen attack Wednesday afternoon along the Magnificent Mile.
The woman originally told officers that a group of six to eight young men robbed her of more than $135,000 in jewelry as she walked along North Michigan Avenue, according to a police report.
But on Thursday night, Area Central property crimes detectives determined that the story she gave police didn't add up with surveillance video footage that was examined.
"Chicago police have determined that the reported Michigan Avenue robbery of a 68-year-old woman [Wednesday] is unfounded. Detectives confronted the victim with inconsistencies between her account of the incident and recovered video, and learned that the story was not true," according to a statement from the department.
WBBM Newsradio has an interview with the lady where she says something along the lines of, "Maybe some good will come out of this....maybe there will be more foot patrols on Michigan Avenue."

Thugs robbed an 83/85 year old couple at the Jackson Blue Line stop yesterday. Husband hospitalized.

I believe the woman more than I do cpd. I have all the respect in the world for coppers I just don't trust that lying their police chief Gary McCarthy.
I think he's trying to cover this up because he knows he's been stealing police resources from downtown and other taxpaying areas to give to the non taxpaying blood sucking ghetto.
I was downtown last night..not a cop in sight. Then I drive down king drive and cops are virtually on every corner. Its disgusting the theft of police resources thanks to Garry.

(5) Transmits or causes to be transmitted a false report to any public safety agency without the reasonable grounds necessary to believe that transmitting the report is necessary for the safety and welfare of the public; or
(6) Calls the number "911" for the purpose of making
or transmitting a false alarm or complaint and reporting information when, at the time the call or transmission is made, the person knows there is no reasonable ground for making the call or transmission and further knows that the call or transmission could result in the emergency response of any public safety agency;

Maybe there is no magical video that was suddenly found that shows she is lying. Maybe the only video found showed her getting off the metra much earlier without a necklace, which she stated the whole time. Maybe lots of (smart) people dont wear their jewelry when commuting. Maybe the woman is affluent and well known with no reason to lie. Maybe this is all damage control from city hall. Maybe, there is no chance charges will be filed against her for a false report, lest the city get sued. Maybe it will be chalked up to senility.
Maybe some would even be suprised it was allowed to get this much press before needing to be cleaned up. Maybe is no crime on Michigan ave., and you should please continue to visit and spend money on the mag mile.

I knew it! I posted my thoughts yesterday. I knew this story was fishy. Isn't it a crime to report a false crime, wasting hours of your time?
A certain drunken retired Deputy Chief MC accidently shot himself in the calf a few days ago but the commander of 016 administratively closed the case! No detectives, no paper work, nothing!
I wonder if she's a crazy old lady or did she do this for some other reason.
She should be charged, I wonder if she was related to the woman on the news complaining about police presence after the wilding episode on Michigan ave. Do you remember the quote? "I pay $17,000 a year in property taxes and this is what I get?" So let make up a BS story and get more police down here. Now Rahm can sleep easy that his mag-mile robbery was a hoax.

I hope Anita and her team approve charges. If they don't, they're giving the reverends and ever other race zealot the moral high ground to use this as an example of how it's the system's fault pookie and boo-boo can't stay out of jail and go to college.
Plus, it's incidents like this that allow real offenders to go free or at least create some doubt as to their guilt. In all fairness to the reverends, no doubt the description she gave of the offenders was "male blacks with dreds." I wonder what she would have done if they brought her in to ID some offenders???

It seems as if she wants more cops out there protecting the city she loves and she hatched a crazy plan to draw attention to our manpower shortage.
Hopefully she filed a claim with her insurance company. Ins. fraud equals felony.
Yes the retired D\C nearly blew his nut sack off, but there was a report generated. However no dicks were assigned and the case was administratively closed non criminal.
He had that much juice still left, but not enough to make it go away completely.
A benefit party is being planned to help offset his medical bills.
A Porta Jon at Oriel Park is being considered for the venue.

Where did you go last night? There were cops on every corner. I worked last night and I was one of them.
MC was only the acting Chief of Detectives for a few weeks.
