Terror Suspect Gets Bail?

  • An 18-year-old Aurora man accused of trying to join a terrorism organization overseas might be confined at home as he awaits a federal trial, but federal prosecutors will challenge a judge’s ruling on the suspect’s bond.

Abdella Ahmad Tounisi was arrested by the FBI last month as he tried to board an international flight at O’Hare Airport, accused of trying to travel to Syria to join a militant jihad group. He had been communicating with recruiter online who was really an undercover agent, federal authorities say.

In a rare move for a terror case, U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel Martin agreed Thursday to release Tounisi on home confinement, on $50,000 unsecured bond, but stayed his own order for 24 hours to give prosecutors time to decide whether to appeal his ruling, meaning Tounisi won’t be released right away. He also ordered Tounisi placed on electronic monitoring, and said his parents must install a land-based phone line at their Aurora home to comply with the home confinement orders.
Because nobody on home confinement has ever done anything wrong, bad or evil while sitting at home doing nothing, right?

"An 18-year-old Aurora man..."

They called him a "man" in this instance.

If he'd been shot by police, it would've read something like this:

"Teen shot by police".

Go figure...

One news report stated the Federal Judge was a FORMER DEFENSE ATTORNEY.

It's like you can take the attorney away from the defense table but you can't take the defense away from the attorney.

The funniest quote from the parents was "they told him to quit that jihadi behavior."
Like we would tell our kids to quit being a smartass.
I am moving to Mars where things make more sense.

Those parents must be a pair of really dim bulbs. They should be doing handsprings and saying thanks to the feds for obviously saving this knucklehead's life. I wonder if they even had any idea what numbnuts was thinking. You see this stuff with the some of the parents that send them to CPS and have to bribe them with Walgreens giftcards just to pick up their kids report card these parents ( i thought) were supposedly smarter then that

If you figure only a small percentage of criminals (terrorists) get caught, how many other goofs are out there waiting to do their thing. Is this trending?

Sooo if you're suspected of terrorist activity you're sent to Guantanamo, but if you're actually caught joining a terrorist organization you get bail? Go figure.
