Rifle Shortage Easing
If you were looking to get an AR platform, start looking now:
- After the gun control scare earlier this year, demand for AR-15 rifles went through the roof. People were maxing out their credit cards on fears that America’s favorite firearm was about to be banned by the powers that be. This cleared the entire available stock of guns, and made manufacturers ramp up to meet demand.
It was good times for manufacturers, but now the AR-15 bubble has burst and things are looking downright depressing for manufacturers.
By now, everyone who “needed” an AR-15 has found one. Even if they emptied their bank accounts to do it, they have their rifle. But with sales slowing down, the price of an AR-15 is cratering. People are no longer willing to buy at the inflated panic-level prices, and dealers are starting to discount the guns in order to clear their shelves.
Feeding your rifle is still going to be a problem as the ammo shortages still exist.

Those broads on CPD posing with them just show how clueless they are. I would take and M-14 or even an AK-47 any day over this piece of shit made by Colt....retired and loving it...

Tripled my money on one of my extra ARs.

Not really an AR-15 or M4 fan.
But what would be recommended in a combat shotgun.
Nothing too exotic, stainless steel might be nice but must be reliable. Think about home defense and for a Westside store owner if the Bulls won the NBA which would be different than the Hawks winning the Stanley Cup or Tiger Woods loses the Master's Tournament.
As the old joke goes, the great black dad is the best firearms salesman in the world. I, myself thought for while that the gouging was never going to cease. 30rd clips that went for 15 bucks shot up to 60 hopefully will fall.
Ammo bubble will pop with greater effect because people invested in it like a commodity. As availability increases and the price begins to drop panicked investors will flood gun shows and on line auction sites. Retailers will have a hard time competing with those prices and store shelves will get crowded. This will happen quickly and with little warning so that manufacturers, who have been running at maximum capacity, will make it worse.
In a panic off, saturated market place the price of ammunition has only one direction to go.
Where can I purchase a discounted ar-15?

Actually both AMMOMAN & GEORGIAARMS(Cannedheat) have good amts of plinking .223,7.62,.38,9mm and at pre-panic prices. Its the .22LR you still cant get in cheap bulk. The self-defence ammo(non bulk) is still expensive....

Just got off the phone with Buds Guns. I sent them awhile back all my police credentials for the LE pricing on their website. This thread made me remember I'm on their Colt wishlist but still haven't heard of anything from them. They just told me they cannot work with the Chicago Police because they will not ship anything to Chicago. I asked what if I have someone with an FFL outside the city? They said NO because they know my primary residence is Chicago and will be bringing the gun there. WTF? I'm so mad right now. Another reason I'm going to move after I retire.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
yes,the early M16s were field too early,no cleaning equipment was issued.
The Army brass switched the propellant from IMR stick power to Ball type powder(chlorate based) and fouled the gas system.
After 1968 these problems were corrected and the desighn improved over the years.No weapon system is perfect.

The M-16 was crap. That's why the M-16A1 was developed and later on the M-16A2. I'll use the A2 over the M-14 or AK. Sight alignment,sight picture.
You can find a lot of M4 's on gunbroker.com. It's a biding process and you can land one for a good price. You can also find a ton of gun shops that put stuff up on there and go directly to their web site.

You won't get in that class unless you have a phone call. They say it's random, but people I know made a phone call to get into the class. Just look at the roster and tell me it doesn't stink of clout. Try becoming a foot man in 19. Thy get in pretty easy.

Think the old timer was correct, the AR sucked in Vietnam and every conflict ever since. Carried one in the desert, had to constantly oil and keep that piece of crap clean. AK's would fire swapping out the parts onto different AK's and full of sand. Guess the AR's do look good in movies and as a prop by the Alpha girls....I will give you that...
It's clear that those who "need" an AR-15 haven't evolved to the want stage. At this stage you begin discovering the versatility of the fine system. Soon you'll have multiple rifles, each with it's own task. Varmints, 3 Gun, hunting, target,and of course duty.

Can someone tell me what the heck is going on with Shore Galleries?
I have been shopping there since the 70's and hit them hard in 1986 when I was in the academy and for years after that. I have spent thousands of dollars there over the years. and I do not regret it.
This place used to be like a toy store for me. They had 100's of guns under the glass and in the racks. They had great sales, the Christmas sale was one I never missed. Mitch, Sig Mrs Shore, mike who sold knives, Harvey who sold me all my reloading stuff. They are like family to me. Nearly everyone in my class bought their guns there. It was crazy on a Saturday when we all piled in there to buy our stuff.
Now the place looks deserted. It looked that way before the Sandy hook shooting and now it is worse. He has like 20 guns in the whole stuff including a bunch of overpriced crap that no one wants. The employees are sad and even scared thinking the place will close up.
Mitch keeps telling me that they are looking to buy a range. OK Fine. But why not keep up the current spot with merchandise? When I ask him about what is happening with the range he gets all quiet. I detect even some deceit here. I don't think a range will happen even if Lincolnwood rolls over. I hope I am wrong.
Honestly I do not want to go to ray O'herrons for stuff. I have no use for the place, never did. Didn't really care for Craig. Mike worked there for awhile after he quit Shores. Shore is right over the border from 017 and we would go in there on lunch. You cant do that with O'Herrons or Midwest without getting a CR.
So, anyone in 017 or the suburbs know what is happening there for real?

Haven't been to Shore Galleries in a while. I noticed the same shit you mentioned. Whatever you do don't go to Ray Oherrons in Lombard what a bunch of A-Holes over there. They think you owe them something, they have no clue about firearms, just a crappy place. I have been going to Gats Guns. It's a little far but the sales staff is pretty nice, knowledgable and a great selection of firearms....just sayin

Every other gun store I've been in recently have had stock of, Glock, Smith, Springfield and others.

Heard that the Navy SEALS used the HK 416 on the Osama Bin Laden raid. What does that tell you???? If Colt made such a great assault rifle wouldn't the best of the best be using it??? As a Police assault rifle I guess the Colt M4 would be good. Think about it the worst that would happen to it is maybe doughnut crumbs would get in it or coffee spilled on it...ha ha ha ha

I am LMAO male wonder boy. Us Alpha girls have all been certified long for a year now. Maybe if you were trained the Alpha Girl way, I doubt it, you might get it. Ask to work a day with an Alpha Girl, there is a waiting list of 6 periods and out member will let you hold her long gun for a second or two.
And Mr. SCC, Alpha girls arms are NOT short. We train to extend our arms by pull ups and hanging for an hour a day from out work out bars at our training camp. If you want to train our way, file for membertship and become one of us. Ask for Kitty. Disrespect to our founder and you will be expelled.
To all of you males that will never make the cut, live with it and respect us "AG". We are one and the best.
I ean 5 miles today and did not break a sweat.

Sadly, I agree with this poster. I too shop there because they are 5 miles from my house. But there is nothing to buy. IF and WHEN CCW gets off the ground, this guy has a golden cash register for carry guns and stuff, 75 feet north of the city of Chicago, which is the biggest gun desert in the nation. He has an untapped market right outside of his front door. He could be an instant millionaire when CCW passes.

While I won't argue that the Colt is a better weapon, you've also got to do some critical thinking.
1. This video was put out by HK. Which rifle did you think would win?
2. Although it's labeled "HK versus Colt", at no time does HK identify the other rifle as a Colt. It could've been a S&W, Rock River, DS Arms, R Guns, etc.
3. Once the first rifle blew up, they didn't even bother securing another for Test B. How do we know that the rifle wouldn't have passed Test B?
4. The standard M4 and the HK416 systems are like comparing apples & oranges. What they don't tell you is that the 416 is much heavier than the standard rifle and costs a lot more. Other manufacturers are making "piston-powered" rifles, too. Rock River is just one of them.

I don't know, but maybe you are living under a rock, but the truth of the matter is it is a global economy. We already buy Glock, Sig Saur, etc... which are foreign made firearms. If it is the best assault rifle out there who cares if it comes from mars....fuck Colt..lets arm our troops with it. Stack the deck, if they are in harms way fighting for our freedom. I haven't bought an American car in decades cause they suck, I have bought Toyota, Honda, Nissan, great vehicles...got what I invested in them and more....
