Great ending to a very stressful game. Again the HAWKS failed to control the puck. I'm not a huge Crawford fan but if it wasn't for his great net minding the score could've been embarrassing. The power play seriously SUCKS and somebody should answer for it. Anyway,

During the live broadcast of the mayhem, the NBC reporter even commented that he was told that the Police were prepared for the win. He then went on to say he did not think so, "there are not enough Police out there"

In that one, we never knew it would be as big as it was and the exempts back then just kept getting more and more teams until they had it under control. Wouldn't you think they would have done a little research and realized that you need a LOT of manpower to control these idiots????
Once again, all of the experts chime in over what went wrong. Looked to me like a lot went right. If you push a crowd that size too much or incorrectly, they are going to push back, and things deteriorate from there. With a crowd that size, contain and control. With the manpower allotted, looks like a good job done all around. Big picture, folks.

Knowing this, why didn't they have a LOT MORE police down there and who's decision was it to have the metal barricades which were used as weapons? At least our older leaders (who are all gone now) knew what to do!

Same thing happened in 2010 I was there when the assholes were throwing bottles at the police fir almost two hours and a retired d/c continued to tell us to go thru the crowd ... I told my people they are not to go thru the crowd again period. Police horses were hit with bottles a mounted officer was pulled off his horse and several officers were injured... All the d/c was talking about were street cleaners at that time too!! I was like.... How about a gas team? The assholes almost overturned the wagon... Glad I am not there for this one...
Who's bright idea was it to put up barricades along clark street. Would love to know what that persons thoughts were when people started to ride them over the crowds. Could i get an event number for that one !!! Me thinks Chicago is a bit top heavy with numbskulls !

Isn't that Wrigleyville you mean, near Wrigley? I live in LP and ran to store last night, fearing it would be nuts on Clark down here, but it wasn't anything like up North of us. I didn't see anybody piled out on the street and traffic seemed to be moving normally. For those a-holes throwing bottles at cops, I hope you guys caught them! What idiots!

Sorry-am from LP and just posted that I hadn't seen anything too bad on Clark. I take it back. I just saw multiple twitters of pix of the major damage here in Lincoln Park and I can't believe my eyes- storefront/restaurant windows smashed, car windows smashed, newspaper stands tipped, videos of young party goers looting from broken shop windows- unbelievable. What the hell? I hope somehow the idiots responsible were rounded up or soon will be.
Yeah, that unruly crowd never happens on the south side. HA!

Poorly Run. Whomever ran it and planned it, dropped the ball! Copper got hurt too. A woman got attacked in an alley by two drunk assholes. All the garbage cans and construction horses and barrels got destroyed. A whole shit load of store front windows got broken out. They attacked squad cars at least a dozen times. All sorts of shit thrown at us and the CPD Horses. I got mother fucked and more shit thrown at me at the Hawks celebration than I did from Black Block at Nato.
Congratulations to both the Blackhawks and the Bruins for a fantastic series. Very peaceful and fun on the North side down Clark St. to Diversey around 10:30pm. People waving, greeting each others horns blowing. Stayed out taking photos enjoying the atmosphere.
It did start to get a bit obnoxious when a very large crowd was headed down Clark St. around Wellington. A CTA bus was broken down in the middle of the street. A few people started running over the top of a stopped taxi. This turned into a giant mob doing it with a large crowd egging them on. About four mounted police finally showed up as well as more foot patrol that herded the crowd S. down Clark St.
There was also a tatted up hispanic gangbanger aggressively yelling "Go Hawks" waving a gigantic Hawks flag at Wellington and Halsted of all places. Saw a few ghetto bangers try to join the party but were vastly outnumbered by peaceful real Hawks fans having fun.

None of the bosses ever gives a shit about what happened before. They were not around that long. You know how frequently they change bosses. They all want to reinvent the wheel and do it their way. If I were to suggest, based on 29 years experience, I get looked at like I have three heads. So I just listen to whatever moron is making the shit up and do what I would do anyway and keep myself and those right around me safe.

I don't know what you were at in 2010 but I was there for the entire night. The bottles were being thrown in the air, not specifically at the police. The mounted unit officer wasn't pulled off his horse; his horse turned suddenly and the officer fell off his horse ... about 5 feet away from me. We were never told to go through the crowd. In fact, the district commanders there and the deputy chief at that time told us to stay on the perimeter until the crowds started to leave. And gassing those people? Well, Mr. Big Balls, I can see the headlines now ... "Cops Gas Jubilant Fans." Those coppers would be in court until they were 90 years old. You would have been hiding in back, saying, "I told them not to do it." Yeah, 2010 was bad but they didn't know what to expect. This time they did. Go back to your mother's basement, idiot.

I work 3rd watch in 023/019..... we never got any direction, instruction, or heads up on what to what to do if the hawks won...... nothing.....when we showed up at Addison and Clark after Sgt. Clark was screaming " Clark St. is gone, Clark St. is gone!!!!" and commander Voulgaris called for all cars to Addison and Clark, we were met by NO ONE. Commander Voulgaris looked panicked, his face had a look of fear on it and our new Chief Andrews sttod behind the horses and never said a word. When the crowd over took the barricades and were starting to f**k with us a PO said to the commander that the crowd needs to be controlled and pushed out of the area, Commander Voulgaris replied "we have a plan in place officer", then 2 minutes later Voulgaris was down for the count, then it totally fell apart. To sum it up, the leadership exceeded my expectations on this one.

I was also next to the horse and one of those bottles "that JUST thrown in the air" hit the horse and as a matter of fact fuck face my guys arrested the jagoff who threw the bottle along with 7 other assholes throwing bottles and full cans of beer just "up in the air" guess where they go when they go up??? I have 20 years on this job kiddie and was on a gas team many many years ago when the police had balls unlike your fucking pussy ass. Dont bother to respond because you couldnt shine my shoes kid let alone play make believe that you are or ever were the police. Be safe doing what it is that makea you think you are the police.

It's usually old timers like you who bring up all the past glories they never participated in and bring up names like E. Fred Bosse (who I REALLY worked for on his tact team). I'm not some punk kid like you hope I'd be. I spent 38 years on the job and probably did more in a year than you did in your whole career.
