Self Cleaning Oven

Friday, a mother and her five year old are slaughtered in 009.

Early Saturday, the main suspect is located in 011, shot multiple times:
  • As family struggled to keep a boy from remembering the details of a shooting that claimed the life of his mother and 5-year-old brother Friday, a suspect lay in a hospital bed across the city with several gunshot wounds of his own.

  • As the family struggled to come to terms with the slayings, police said the 18-year-old man suspected in the homicides was found bleeding from at least four gunshot wounds Friday night on the West Side.

The man shot Friday night is in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital. Someone walked up to him in the 2800 block of West Arthington Street in the Lawndale neighborhood about 9:10 p.m. and shot him in the buttocks, neck, leg and groin, police said.

Less than 20 hours passed between the homicides on Winchester and the Arthington Street shooting.
An e-mailer tells us that the guard detail has been removed from the suspect's hospital room. Oftentimes that means the suspect isn't a suspect anymore or, more likely, the hospital is going to pull the plug shortly. We're betting on door number two and the family is probably hoping the same. We also are betting that his own people (or folks) executed him after finding out who he killed and realizing the amount of attention that was coming their way.

They win and in the long run so does society and the taxpayers.

This is a tragedy for the young mother and her 5 yr old. But a blessing for the community that the killer is gone. He will not be able to kill again (which was inevitable) and the tax payers don't spend money on giving that demon free housing, free medical, free education and more. Murder is murder no matter how it is phrased. But that lowlife murderer is not breathing anymore and unable to take lives and take money.

Way off topic....this afternoon Dave Bolland was traded by the Blackhawks to the Toronto Maple Leafs. As a Hawks fan it's sad to see the guy who scored the Stanly Cup winning goal head out of town.

More important to me though is the fact that we are losing a great friend. by "we" I mean the members of CPD. Dave was a great friend to coppers and he demonstrated that friendship and respect by making himself available to the Brotherhood For The Fallen. He came to every fundraiser that his schedule would allow, obtained gear and memorabilia for raffles and he stood at the fundraisers and posed for pictures with anyone who would ask, signed autographs and persuaded other Blackhawks to come to the fundraisers as well.

This is a guy that cared about police officers and helped make it possible for the group to go and offer condolences and comfort to the families of fallen officers nationwide.

Thanks Dave. You are a class act and I wish you good luck in Toronto, and wherever else life might take you. You will always have friends in Chicago.

Area sat teams called out, district incident teams called out and area North tact teams called out in CD to go to a crowd control situation. What happened to high visibility as in the yellow vests, then they send coppers in black vest covers into a crowd.
Listening to the radio and it sounds like 1900 is ready to throw in the towel. In the middle of the chaos he goes back to 019 to "regroup". That's the way to lead from the front (office that is)
