Lisa Tips Quinn's Hand
- Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan said Thursday that she expects Gov. Pat Quinn to rewrite a compromise measure to legalize the concealed carrying of firearms in public.
[...]As attorney general, Madigan has successfully sought to put a hold on a federal appeals court ruling that tossed out the state's ban on carrying a concealed firearm. She has held off on appealing the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court as she waits to see whether a compromise bill enacted in the closing days of the spring session last month is signed into law.
Many lawmakers expect Quinn to use the issue to try to help himself politically, taking advantage of his amendatory veto powers to rewrite the bill to make it more stringent. On Thursday, Madigan said she agreed that the governor would rewrite the bill. Quinn has not said what he plans to do, other than to indicate he will act in the interest of public safety.
"stringent" hasn't worked. Hasn't worked for decades. Yet Potato-head will once again attempt to dictate how and when you will be allowed to defend yourself while criminals go wild with no fear of prison time or the so-called "fines" Rahm wants. Daddy Madigan will pull some more strings and Lisa will do what dear-old-dad tells her to do.

I just can't believe that the SCOTUS gave Madigan an extension on her extension to appeal, just so that quinn could make some political capital out an issue that revolves around violations of the U.S. Constitution.
What a shame and disgrace.

Has any of these Illinois politicians who are opposed to concealed carry explain publicly why they believe the law will not work in Illinois, even though it works well in the other 49 states?

Crime, corruption and politics are the reasons to get out of Dodge. What crap these politicians are. And what a mess they have created in IL. The true idiots are the citizens who keep reelecting them. Chicago has become the most dangerous city in the world. Good honest citizens should protect themselves no matter what these knuckleheads believe.
More money in fines to balance the city budget, but fines that never get paid because judges never find anyone guilty, just look at cook county court records! We are last in the country prosecution cases, that is why criminals are not afraid to carry guns. Besides being Democunts voters.

What happens on July 9th when all the extensions expire? Our democratic overlords do not want concealed carry in Illinois. What trick will they spring on us next? The bill is veto proof so why won't potato head sign it. He says he has to look it over and Lisa gets an extension but there he is out at the Blackhawks rally getting booed. Look over the bill idiot and sign it! I still say Illinois will never have concealed carry.

This is Quinn’s re-election campaign kick-off. It will not be a simple veto. It will be a full blown media event and re-write to do right, probably at the home of a Chicago gun shot victim, with lots of gun control advocates, ministers, cops and moms with kids. Expect the full monty of gun control porn, fear, fear, and more fear with a dash of victim stories and photos of departed loved ones. It’s going to be over the top.
Quinn will a/v it to include every conceivable item from ICHV and the Brady Center wish list. He’ll say this is what Governors can do, this is why you need strong leaders, the buck stops with him, he’s the only one who can protect us, yada, yada, yada.
It’s his big moment in the sun and it doesn’t matter that the veto will be promptly over-ridden. It’s too good for Quinn to pass up.
I think Quinn and Madigan forget that they serve the people and we do not serve them. The Bill passed by a super majority, it is what the people want! Sign the bill. By not signing it they are not serving us but ruling us by imposing their will. That is how the American Revolution started. Time for a revolution again or simply tar and feather potato head and run him out of town on a rail. Even if you are not a supporter of concealed carry, what they are doing is a slap in the face of our rights. The right to bear arms like all our other rights are given to us by God! Not something granted by politicians at their whim.
Come Quinn and Madigan. Get your shit together already. What a joke. I got news for the two of you: IT's coming. Veto, stall, extend, whatever. It's on the way.

O.T. I hope someone reads the new proposed Chicago "Assault Weapon Ban". section 820-075 (c),(2). Retired CPD. no longer get to keep the patrol rifle they paid for. The day of retirement you have 60 days to get rid of it.

If a ccw license holder (obviously out of state ccw) gets injured in a crime against him/her and was defenseless, Illinois better get the checkbook out.
