Save $$$ = Poor Planning

Remember when they shut down selected lock-ups? You think someone was having second thoughts the other night?
  • Don't forget a brand new lockup facility within eye sight of all that mayhem on Clark st. and Halsted Bars.

But, if you arrest anyone you have to drive stupid a few miles away to an old lockup at Belmont and Western! Lost time for sure, who thinks this shit up!

25 million dollars for a new Police station and you can't use the fucking lockup! Such a waste of resources!

Time to send McJersey packing! He don't know shit about Chicago!
Brand new lock-up, but did they ever run a single prisoner through it?  Imagine sometime in the next thousand years if the Cubs actually win something - a police station yards away, but the prisoner holding area is a few miles away.  Freaking brilliant.

How about first offense $10,000-$20,000 fine or 5 years in prison, 2nd offense $30,000-$50,000 fine or 10 years in prison, and 3rd offense life with no parole, ever.

North side thinking. If they don't have to see it, they can pretend it isn't there.

Closing the lock ups at the districts is a scam. The Supt. used the excuse that closing lock ups "saves money". "Look, look - see how much money I am saving". But no one will pull back the curtain.

Apparently police officers are the only ones smart enough to realize driving offenders miles away after each arrest costs more money and takes officers off the street for longer periods of time?

Just to think you have "gay pride" week and parade the following weekend with all the "Mayhem" that is caused by a bunch of liquored up drunks on Halsted st.

The bars in the area are advertising like it is going out of style to drink, drink, drink and be gay in more ways than anyone would know!

Now, you get a crowd that is unruly and police start locking people up! It takes the wagon at least 40 minutes on a turn to transport the idiots to Belmont and Western lockup!

Yet, a brand new lockup facility, with stripped out equipment [no money for new ones], sits empty where an Officer can walk or a very short drive over to drop off prisoners and drop dummy off into a cold cell!

Brilliant planning by Exempt staff! Do more with less! My ass!

When the closing of lookups was announced the first thing we all said was that some coppers are going to get seriously hurt or killed. This policy is idiotic.

it was up and running for a few months and then with the assanine closures of two police areas and the 019th district merging with 023they closed it. So now if you get arrested at Addison and Sheffield in your own home in the middle of winter you are transported miles away to a lockup, with no hat or gloves either, they have to be inventoried in Town Hall. Just as stupid as when Area Central have to respond to a homicide at Roosevelt and Cicero, Area North to the other side of Roosevelt and Cicero, and if there is a homicide on the northeast end of 007 near 55th and the expressway, Area South has to handle

Everyday we see a terrible accident involving a C.P.D. Squad car. It's not rocket science to connect the dots and highlight that these accidents occur when P.O.'s have to fly from one end of the Dist to the other to cover up the criminal lack of manpower. Why no media attention on the amount of traffic accidents involving squad cars?

Well, now that you all said it, did some coppers get killed or seriously hurt?

Why didn't 23's new lockup ever open? I heard it was because they screwed up the ceilings because prisoners could have crawled through?

Sorry--I mean 19 by the lake.

Same with the new combined 012/013 district. Brand new building with a modernized lockup. It even has a rubber room for the high risk prisoners. Do we use it......hell no...take them to central detention. It makes no f@#$ing sense but that's the way it is.....stupid!

So?

Can't use the new lock-up because the design is fucked-up and prisoners will be getting away?

New 019?

New 012?

New 012 intentionally built on a toxic site full of asbestos?

The department sitting on years of medical info about certain stations being notorious cancer clusters that are killing more Policemen than any bunch of raging shit-heads combined?

The old 012 was such a place?

The old 013?
The old 006?
The old 007?

How many officers have died of cancer who worked there over the years?

Policemen are expendable?

more care and concern for the mutts in custody...

open 024's lockup again! Being closed, it downs a/os, t/os, hospitals, etc. A total delay! U would have been better off closing 020's lockup. ~96% of arrests are from 024. Although 020 is heating up, 5 shot and a 10-1 tonight! Closing lockups make no sense, how many detention aids did that free up? Officers time, transport liability, possibility of escape, incarceritus and hospital guards. With thirsty outside units stationed in 024 it makes even less sense. Not to mention the greater inconvenience it causes to the arrestees....
