Copper Injured in Collision
They had to cut him out of the car after the crash with a garbage truck:
- A Chicago Police officer was conscious and talking after emergency crews cut him out of a South Side wreck involving a squad car and a garbage truck Tuesday night.
The crash happened about 9:15 p.m. near 43rd and Ashland, police News Affairs [...] said, citing preliminary information.
The police officer was driving a Ford Crown Victoria police sedan, “fortunately equipped with side airbags,” Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.
Emergency crews had to cut the officer out of the wreckage, but he was conscious and alert, Langford said. He was being treated at Stroger Hospital for injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
Hitting what is essentially a giant trash compactor on wheels is going to ruin your day. Get well soon Officer.

Prayers to you, Officer, may God speed you through your recovery and may you have the support you need most throughout...
Last word was the sarge is going to be ok.
Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Don't know who the at fault vehicle was , but that intersection has heavy traffic with garbage trucks heading into the Back of Yards and on numerous occasions I have seen garbage trucks run red lights and travel at speeds well above the speed limit. Speedy recovery to the Sgt.
That could have been a lot worse.
Why in the world was a city garbage truck out on the street at 9:15 pm???
