Rahm Lashes Out at Guardian Angels

Not because they're wrong, but because they're bringing a spotlight to an ongoing problem and it's embarrassing:
  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday said that if the Guardian Angels want to protect something, their efforts would be more appreciated along Safe Passage routes than on Michigan Avenue.

"Michigan Avenue, police work every day to make that secure and safe," he said after a meeting of the City Council.

His remarks come a day after members of the non-profit volunteer organization distributed flyers along one of the city's prominent shopping districts. The flyers referred to the Magnificent Mile as "Muggers Mile."

"I think the Guardian Angels are interested in safety and security," said Emanuel. "There's a lot of areas in the city where they can work in partnership" [with police]. There's gonna be a lot of safe-passage routes for kids. Come work those."

The Guardian Angels invited Rahm to come walk with them, but Rahm refused as he didn't want to actually witness a large portion of his voting bloc's offspring making the city uninhabitable.

Good on the Guardian Angels sticking it in Flaming Tu-Tu's ass by shining a light on his bullshit.

Hey Scc,
I'm surprised you didn't catch onto the problematic statement Rahm made. To paraphrase, Michigan Ave is safe because the police work hard to make it so... But your welcome to work Safe Passage in the hood, we don't devote our resources there.

The Guardian Angels should ask for 1 million dollars from the city. They have probably done more than cease fire has.

Speaking of this, if you're on the north side, you should pick up a copy of the Inside-Booster, which unlike the our two daily papers, lays out in detail just how dangerous the Belmont/Sheffield has become at night. It also lays out how understaffed the new "super-district" 019 is. Maybe the Angels will do a press conference at the Belmont Red Line, practically Rahm's back yard. This is the guy that threw his own neighbors to the wolves while enjoying his own security detail. Gotta love it.

Speaking as a civilian ... it doesn't take great powers of observation to see the that teams of 3 police officers are now patrolling the Mag Mile and Streeterville, routinely.

Not that long ago, you might notice one or two officers together ... and not that long before that, you saw only the occasional officer.

So from the casual observer's point of view: Are the criminals so tough that we need three officers working together? Is it a matter of numbers? Do they need to be in teams of three because the bad guys are traveling in larger groups? How large? Do officers need to be traveling "in mini-packs" to protect themselves?

If officers aren't safe ... how safe is a single individual walking alone? Should I be traveling in my own pack of three for better security? Should I be armed? Ooops no, I can't do that. I get to leave that to the bad guys. My role as a Chicago civilian is to be a sitting duck while Rahm makes political hay over the Angels and "Safe Passage" lanes.

If Rahm doesn't watch what he says, he is gonna put out the already existent, and completely worthless Safe Passage worker from their 17.50 an hour job. 5 hr a day job.

Sitting five deep in front of Water Tower Place waiting for a radio call is not an effective use of police resources. Where are the supervisors?

Hey rahm, why not return yours and little dick daily's bodyguard detail to patrol duty? You're paying cease fire, have them guard you two.

yes you probably should be roaming in your own packs sadly. we are an understaffed department first of all. rahm and mchypocrite will deploy officers to various areas of recent violent activity to give the citizens the illusion that there are enough officers on the street. if i were you sir, i would inquire as to how many officers work in the ghetto trash neighborhoods and how few officers work in the tax-paying areas such as michigan ave. this scum mayor and superintendent will lie to the people of chicago all day to keep their own asses out of a sling. they do not care about this city as they are simply trying to benefit their own future and agenda. it is a smoke and mirrors trick is all. trust me when i say that we are understaffed and they tell us to only stop these gangbangers from shooting each other and don't ever say shit about helping out the tax-paying citizens. micromanagement all the way from the microscopic brain of rahmie and mcpuppet. i would not expect much from these two idiots as they aren't even in control themselves.

it is not safe here. rahm, mcpuppet and every politician here don't want tax-paying citizens to be able to protect themselves. there are also no consequences for these animals or politicians so why in the hell would they stop what they're doing? the only way to hurt the politicians is to not vote for them or leave this shitty city. as for the savages, they'll be taken care of ccw. however, are you willing to wait for that? it will be a long time

Any good group of citizens that help the police is welcome. You notice that the Guardian Angel's are here without their hands out asking for " funding " like fake rev'runs & ceasefire hucksters.
What did Chicago get for the million dollars wasted. ? N-O-T-H-I-N-G!

So much whining and hand-wringing.

Now you have 3 cops walking around at once? You are out-numbered on the street?

Even up the odds.

Hand out a couple of AA12s to those trios and clean up a block.

All you have to do is one block -and that will lay the law down as to who is in charge.

That will end ALL wilding forever.

I thought crime is down citywide according to the little imp. Why would the Guardian Angels be needed anywhere? These assholes talk out the side of there mouths then piss in your ear and tell you it's raining.

If we are to believe Rahm and McJersey Shore isn't the whole city a safe passage zone already? Gun free, sanctuary city and now a Safe Passage city!!! No robberies, no burglaries, no wildings. I would think that at their next post 10 kill weekend Monday morning press conference, they just say that all the kids are safe, even in the park at 2am, and it will be. It's incredible that they have let things get so bad that they have to resort to these stunts just so kids can walk to school safely. I am sure that the local media will tout the great success of this program like they do for all the great crime fighting initiatives that we have to live with.

Rahm is trying to do the old " the best defense is a good offense" routine.
I believe even the media and the sheeple are starting to see through this arrogant weasel.
