Ald. Balcer Says We're Fine

  • A proposal to add police positions through the 2014 budget process got a tepid response from the head of the City Council's Committee on Public Safety Wednesday.
"We're hiring more police all the time," said Ald. James Balcer (11th), chairman of the Public Safety Committee. "I just had a graduation the other day."

Ald. James Cappleman said he an email to his ward over the weekend that he and a number of aldermen "are insisting on a commitment of more police officers on the street before we vote on the 2014 City Budget," which is expected to be submitted to the City Council in October.
Of course, cops are still retiring and even McMoron has admitted we're just keeping up with attrition. But of course, all this guy knows is CPD is hiring, so everything must be okay - after all, aldercreatures have jobs for life and probably even a vote after their dead...why not cops?

Jimmy jimmy jimmy, again and again you prove your total ignorance, are you still collecting the garbage from your friends who own the restaurant on 35th street by the ballpark? You know jimmy the Irish fast food place that over charges for mediocre food? Jimmy you say you were a Marine, ahh yes truly a merchant Marine, or were you an officer in the army the Salvation Army?

Before everybody on this blog starts bad-mouthing Balcer, people who dont know this guy need to look at his background and history with the police. Balcer has consistently been pro-police and a friend to our department. He's a bonified war hero (Vietnam) who always backed our actions and pushed for pay raises and better equipment. He is one probably the only alderman that doesnt cater to "Storefront Reverends" and race-baiting "Community Activists". So please don't attack this guy on the blog because one statement that got twisted by a piece of crap columnist. Balcer, in my opinion, is the only alderman in this city that deserves to be where he is at.

In the old days this kind of flim-flam would of been pulled off via the bought and paid for main stream media propaganda machine.

However social media is hip to this bullshit.

The CAPS meeting in 019 the actors came shooting blanks.

They refused to answer simple questions about manpower choosing word games and misdirection instead.

This will no longer stand.

Giving handouts with bullshit like here's you robbery totals for the period and they get called out because the robbery totals they gave don't include armed robbery. They go on to blame the computer system. We just asked it for the top ten and this is what we got --

Oh and the blaming of the victims. WTF. People where told that if they are in front of their own house and see someone walking towards them that they need to run inside their house. THIS IS WHAT WE ARE PAYING TAXES FOR? THIS?

A new day is dawning. Good cop / bad cop between the aldermen and the brass is tired. Oh we asked for more cops on the beat buy ultimately it's up to the commander. The commander then explains about this detail and that detail and can not or will not answer if there are more cops on the street in the district or not since combining them.

Social media is buzzing. They don't hear it because they are still focused on their old propaganda machines that worked so well for so many years. Election time can't come soon enough.

The City seems ready to cut the number of Aldermen. I am sure they are more than willing to add policemen to keep this blog from pushing that cut to the tipping point. The smart ones will see that.

well, these yuppie morons should get with the program and sign up for an Illinois carry permit when they become available in January.

I live in the 44th ward, and 90+-percent of these people are STILL, after decades of escallating bullshit, expecting their ward office, and their government to solve all their problems and wipe their heinies.

and then every two years, they vote for more lib-dems and expect things to change.

Tunney is the only alderman who has publicly questioned McCarthy on the # of police. In 2011 he asked how many uniform checks were cut trying to get at an answer. Read this:
http://www.centersquarejournal.com/news/ig-report-reveals-ald-tunneys-barrage-of-questions-for-police

"Questions came from 18 different Alderman, but Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) asked the most, with 17 questions to Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy. [A copy of the IG's report can be found at the bottom of this article.] Among the responses to Tunney and other aldermen:

The merged 23rd and 19th district will have 476 officers.
The average response time in 2010 for a domestic disturbance or burglary in progress was 6.2 minutes.
In 2010 had 12,365 sworn officers received their annual uniform allowance check but only 7,047 officers were actually assigned to work a beat.

Last year at the City Council pension hearings he again tried to get an answer by asking how many officers pay into the pension plan. He also asked how many are eligible to retire. I think the goofs on the pension board said about 11,000 paying in and 3500 could retire with full benefits.

I agree about Balcer. I don't agree with the statement and I actually sent the link to SCC (I'm sure others did too). However, the post questioning his service is off base. It is documented that this guy is a hero and actually spent hours going down a ravine under fire recovering dead and wounded marines. Look up the After Action Reports. He is also a big supporter of the police. I know because I have worked with him. A machine guy...yes, police hater...absolutely not. He may be wrong in this story (or misquoted), but overall, I'd take him over most of the other Aldercreatures.

He also was the only Alderman who voted against the silly City Council resolution in 2003 opposing US intervention of any kind in Iraq. Who has time to worry about pensions, shortages of police officers, teachers and paramedics, school closings and streets collapsing when they need to spend their time debating US foreign policy and other matters that aldernman have no say whatsoever in. They need to stick to what they do best: shaking down businesses trying to open up in Chicago like Chic Fil-a. BTW: When is the City Council going to come out and oppose US intervention in Syria? I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting for councils in Chicago, SF, Seattle or those other hotbed of civil liberties to oppose "any type of pre-emptive strike" on Syria like they did beofre Iraq. If they did, they woudn't be the hypocrites that we know them to be.

Little Stevie really put out for this guy. You're going to find he's not worth it. Howvdoes absgt leave patrol for a unit. I just read all the postings and some people are clueless. I live in Bridgeport and kept up with his voting. I don't care about his past or any of that. All I care about is how he is representing me and the ward.

He voted to sell the skyway, voted to sell the parking meters, voted to sell the cities parking garage, voted on the assault weapon ban that states retired police must turn in their patrol rifle within 30 days(read the recently passed ordinance), always at the anti gun news conferences and was in the paper for strong arming the builder in Bridgeport village to sell under price to his friend and him or no building permit.

To whom ever likes him, I only hope you stay in the neighborhood that is turning into shit when everyone like me who is tired of this shit leaves!

He looks like Waldo standing behind Mc C.

For anyone backing him you have to be political hacks. He has been talking about in the next redistricting taking some of China Town. He wants out of Mckinney Park. This guy is just another professional elected official. Boy does he have some of you fooled. He is out for number one. Google his voting record and take off the blinders.

If Balcer is so pro-police why don't I hear him on the TV saying Rahm should allow the officers to get back pay. Why don't I hear him saying how we deserve our pensions and it is not our fault the City did not meet its pension obligations. If you're for us you have to be for us all the time, not at election time. That is part of the problem, around election time these alderman talk about what great friends they are of the police, then nothing for ten years. If Balcer is such a good friend of the police, why isn"t he calling for McCrthy's removal.

Crime is down here too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRTSrun6htA

And just like Chicago, so are the number of cops on the street.

It's kind a funny how all across the nation the # of cops to criminals is rapidly decreasing, while the violence is rapidly escalating.

Sure makes the nation rife for some of the "conspiracies" people like to pretend don't exist. Stop and think about it for a moment. Doesn't this deliberate lack of "man-power" set the stage for what Kissinger said the American people would someday be clamoring for.

“Today, America would be outraged if UN troops entered Los Angeles to restore order. Tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all people of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by the World Government.” (Henry Kissinger, at the 1991 Bilderberger Conference held in Evians, France. 1991.)

What has he done about the lies? Nothing. He has passed the lies on to his constituents. He does nothing about it. He is a 100% rubber stamp of rahmbo in the council. That just came out in a uic report.

He voted to cut the cpd budget.

He finds it in his heart to break down in tears, IN TEARS, over the size of the proposed Wrigley jumbotron but he doesnt say a peep publicly about the very serious troubles that affect human beings on teh street.

Don't people realize the aldermen, white alderman to be more specific, have no say over how many cops are in their ward unless they have something to hang over Rahm's head? In Tunney's case he's leveraging Wrigley Field reno plans to get more cops assigned to the area and have the cost partially covered by the Cubs. The days of an alderman telling a commdr what to do are long gone. And the commanders have no way to get the manpower they need unless tiny dancer says ok. Wish people would get that and blame the right person: RAHM!,

But, you made the assumption I'm a copper. I am a business owner in Balcers Ward. I come to this blog because I dig the CPD and like to keep tabs on what's going on.

Balcer has never given a shit about my business or the jobs I've created in his Ward...He doesn't have to worry about getting my vote, Tunney does. The second ammendment comment is directed at ANY city lawmaker who is standing in my way of protecting my Home, Business, Family and all the assets I've worked my balls off getting. Tunney and Balcer, since they're mentioned in the OP, are two such obstacles.
