Here's All the Guns

  • For evidence of the scope of Chicago’s illegal gun problem, look no further than a nondescript warehouse on the city’s far West Side, not far from some of the city’s most violent neighborhoods. There, the Chicago Police Department has packed 80,000 illegal firearms into row after row of shelves, meticulously labeled and guarded by police officers who wait for the green light to destroy them.
The guns, almost all of which were seized by the department during criminal arrests, range from the common handgun to military rifles to “street sweepers”—guns with oversized, rotary magazines and so much destructive power the National Firearms Act places them in the same category as grenades, mines and poison gas.
Of course, vast numbers of these guns were "illegal" by definitions since ruled unconstitutional by the highest court in the land. We don't envy the lawsuits peeking over the horizon and we are forced to ask ourselves why the Department is broadcasting decades worth of overreach on the part of our political masters? Are they drawing a map for injunctions or what?

As an aside, we were amused that they admit the "ventilation" system does very little to alleviate the smells (and side effects) of literally tons of marijuana stored in the building. That complaint has been ongoing since ERPS occupied the building and ended up being the basis for a number of safety grievances.

And why destroy these mostly perfectly good firearms? Many may be antiques, rare collectables, or perfectly good and serviceable guns. Why not sell them and use the proceeds to help the PD? Who knows, some may be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the open market. It is a shame to destroy them. Sell them to someone that appreciates them. Destroy the purely junk.

Hey, this brings up a great idea on how to help the City plug that 2014 Budget Gap...

New law will allow Texas police to sell confiscated guns

Now a new law taking effect September 1 will allow some of those guns to instead be sold to federally licensed firearms dealers, with the profits going back to the department. House Bill 1421 was passed during the regular session of the 83rd Texas Legislature, and amends the law regarding the disposition of certain weapons seized by law enforcement.

State Rep. Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), the bill's author, says the change could save the state as much as half a million dollars, as well as provide some extra money for local law enforcement agencies.

80,000 guns? Lets say 50,000 are disposable @ $200.00 a piece. Boom! Theres $1,000,000 bucks for ya! Now, can I get a merit promotion?

the m/o is the same.

what we're suppose to take away from this bit of propaganda is ; ' oh...set aside all those homicides and gun shot victims. look at the number of guns taken of the streets..'

compare that story to the 16 min video clip posted below on the jp morgan ceo and the crime after crime after crime that he has enabled, ruining millions of peoples lives, and the cnbc media runs to his aid

--- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Matt Taibbi On The CNBC "Presstitutes"

The top definition of presstitute according to Urban Dictionary is:

1. presstitute

A member of the media who will alter
their story and reporting based on financial interests or other ties with usually partisan individuals or groups.

It has become abundantly clear in recent years that the mainstream media can not be identified as anything other that a collective of mediocre, corporate/government ass-kissing presstitutes. Different media outlets cater to different special interests, but the end result is all the same. MSNBC for example is essentially a straight up PR outlet for the Democratic Party, while Fox News represents the neo-con arm of the Republican Party and the military-industrial complex generally.

CNBC has a special position in the presstitute media hierarchy. They basically defend Wall Street at all costs. The station represents the most important media gatekeeper for the financial oligarch, crony class.

The following video is an interview on the daily political talk show Majority Report, hosted by Sam Seder. In this episode, he discusses with Matt Taibbi the recent appearance of Salon’s Alex Pareene on CNBC in which Maria Bartiromo unabashedly presstitutes herself out for Jaime Dimon and JP Morgan in an utterly embarrassing manner.

The clip is a little over 16 minutes, but well worth your time. Sam Seder is pretty hilarious and his rapport with Taibbi is excellent.

Katrina Gun Confiscation: The Untold Story

The New Orleans gun confiscation horror in the aftermath of Katrina is more than a cautionary tale. It's a stark reminder of what can happen when the authorities don't respect your gun rights. This NRA video shows you what the media won't about this Second Amendment tragedy.

If the city is paying to have them destroyed the answer should be obvious. The city doesn't pay it's bills. The contractor who does it needs payment because he probably knows all about the city's nothing down and a year to pay interest free financing and give me a city of chicago discount payment plan.

retired CPD should be doing the Guarding of this stuff, NOT Active, healthy Officers, or light Duty, who could be patrolling the streets, or watching Surveillance Cameras, or be at fixed outposts conducting surveillance, or answering phones if able to report to work. . Waste of Middle Class Taxpayer dollars again, by City of Chicago/CPD Administration.

"meticulously labeled and guarded by police officers"

All the doors, locks, knobs, and security cameras are broken and their so called "Vault" is a home depot chain link fence. Any 16 yr old with have a brain could walk right in and steal all the drugs and guns he could carry and no one would be the wiser for years! I can'believe it hasn't happened already.

Does this sound like anyone we know? An elitist who duped many naïve Americans into handing him back his self-imposed throne? (and his family's free travel club)
"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.” —

Not sure but I hear tell that Garry has spent at least three hours a week there since he took over the department (he said it was a familiarization technique he developed in NYC bars).

Any further questions on the physical/mental dangers of that place?

The city shouldn't destroy the guns that are in Good to Excellent condition. Rahm should give them away for FREE to 'poor people in the community'!

I'm serious, he'd be helping the law abiding citizen adults to exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights. Just like they get Free Abortions from the 'G', that *other right* -- that no one can seem to find in the US Constitution or any founding document.

Rahm can distribute them through Chi's Dept of Human Rights (whatever). They can ride through da hood in pretty UPS type Vans, Pink with Balloons on them, playng music like an ice cream truck, only something cool. Like the Sopranos Theme Song, 'Woke this morning and got myself a gun'.

The community would love it. He could be mayor for life!

OT

The US House of Reps has no problem applauding the Police Departments involved in the Capitol Shooting
when their safety is at risk.

It is so disgusting to watch their behavior. If it was a threat
against a regular citizen, there would be no mention.
Such a double standard, just like Obamashare.

You are dead on target... Ditto.

Throw in an M1917 Enfield too...

Billions of rounds of .30-06 still floating around.

107 years and the .30-06 can still bring the mail from point blank to 800+ yards.
