A Gun, A Crime and A Paroled Criminal

What is the same old story, the same old song and dance?
  • Two West Side men including a parolee are facing charges after police said shots were fired in a car causing state police to close two West Loop ramps of the Kennedy Expressway early Saturday, police said.

Martez Staples, 25, of the 1200 block of South St. Louis Avenue, and Cordero P. Locke, 24, of the 100 block of North Lamon Avenue, were both charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, police said.

Locke was ordered held on $150,000 bail at his bond hearing today.

Staples is on parole for an armed robbery conviction and Locke was also charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, police said.
Golly, a parolee, with a gun, committing yet another crime. Who would have thunk it? It's not like that has ever happened in Chicago before. What is this world coming to? We better pass some laws to take guns away from the law abiding citizens who aren't out there lighting up expressways, right?

Where is all the screaming from the politicians and "reverends" over this?

Kevin Ryan from gang enforcement to be commander of 009 is the reported move when Gorman leaves... Only rumor, so take it for what it's worth

**********************

hmmmmm, interesting. I heard the same exact thing tonight but like you the person I heard it from said it was a rumor he "heard from a guy who knows a guy." So who really knows... Anybody out there know if this is true? I work in 009 and Ive worked for ryan before, not a bad boss and took good care of us. Anyone can confirm this???

It's not even surprising anymore here in Chicago, guess it's expected. We need truth in sentencing or start holding lawyers and judges accountable. After all the Police only make the arrest, there should be a higher standard for judges and politicians.

Did his "back-round" check come before or after he received his parole? Because, you know he had to have one before he was able to get his gun, right. It's the LAW.

We need to call Preckwinkle and let her know that another person of color (a brown or black person) is having another case put on him again for he same crime. No more persons of color should be locked up I say! From this day forth let's only lock up people who actually commit the crimes! Brilliant I say.

SCC, thank you for publicizing this hypocrisy. It is a hypocrisy because on the one hand the politicians in our state blame guns for all of the ills. Yet they don't punish fully those who are committing the crimes with guns in the first place. Also, God forbid if someone even tries to toughen up the measures for sentencing. Nope, that would be racist because according to Cook County Board President Tony Preckwinkle and entire Chicago Black Alderman Caucus lobbied against a bill in Springfield to put mandatory minimum sentences for uuw offenders. They said "too many black and brown people are in jail". What's funny though is that Latino and white politicians are for it, while the black politicians are against it.

There was a proposal to send a CCW holder to jail if he or she made an honest mistake for bringing his/her gun in a forbidden zone. Yet, convicted felons will get off with a handslap. Chicago had CCW for years, but only the criminals could take advantage of the system in place. Still the criminals still get an easier CCW path with far less consequences than law abiding citizens.

"A Gun, A Crime and A Paroled Criminal."

Pfft...
Nothing worth seeing so keep it movin' folks... Uhh, you too, peoples.

Here... We'll save everybody the time and effort by translating the not so subliminal message of City Hall intentionally ceding control of the public way to the armed wing of the Catered To Constituencies and their support structure as a gigantic "Fuck You" to THE Police and the upright, law abiding tax-payers.

The two-fold goal of targeted destruction of public safety in Chicago while exacting a diversionary false savings to give the illusion that Rahm and all of his "smart and tech-savvy" bean counters, peoples, folks and assorted hangers ons actually have "The Answers" to Chicago's nagging questions...

The "answers" of all these "smart and tech-savvy" poot-butts are manifested by the proverbial pile of shit between two shoes on the wrong feet.

And when the two shoes on the wrong feet along with the attached shitty ass run away and hide from responsibility, the pile of shit will remain.

Thus sayeth the joyful haters...

"Aren't you Coppers gonna clean that up? That's what you guys are paid for, right? You swore an oath, right? Don't you guys have "rules and regulations" to abide by? This is ALL your fault!"

*It's the POLICE who are the problem in Chicago... Once we "fix" THEM, everything else will finally fall in place.*

This city is intentionally destroyed beyond all hope, care and salvage...

Good and upright men who are intentionally shut out of any constructive role (because they might fuck up the status quo by doing what's right) and their collective voices stifled under the weight of cynical political and media pandering and oppression, will want nothing to do with the damned thing.

The low information majority are cheering loudly now...

"Good! We're glad you guys are being made to go away!"

SAN DIEGO - An internal memo obtained by Team 10 shows grave concern by the head of the U.S. Border Patrol about drinking and driving among agents.

The concerns are taken a step further in what an inside source told Team 10 about how agents report to work under the influence of alcohol.

off topic what is happening with the retiree insurance problems. The mayor will give in and give the new guys (hair gels whatever) retro pay of $1200 and they will jump at it. not realizing that they will retire some day and have to pay twice that amount each and every month. They should put their long term needs before any silly silly short term needs what is the difference between a minute retro check and pay raise. They will talk about how they stuck it to the mayor while he will be laughing at them as all it cost him was a few bucks to screw them out of their health care and pension. He will be amazed that he pulled it off. Then again he knows that the police are all talk and have no unity. Give them a dollar today and they will give you thousands in health care and lost pension benefits. The mayor or aldermen&women are not giving their health care or pension up. They will not have obama care. The smart ass police will not be given any obama discounts. they mayor will laugh telling everybody that he save billions of dollars, just by pretending to give in to simple minded police who will think they won the battle but in reality they lost the war. keep working vri for few dollars today and have no new police giving to the pension fund. and there is no more money in the pension fund thank your fellow officer who made ten thousand for a year for a few years and then lose thirty to forty thousand a year for the rest of their life. and that they won the battle for the retro pay and 3% back in 2013. Why worry about the big picture. I doing good today why worry about tomorrow. sorry for the rant. You candy asses can not even get enough so called police officers to agree to march on city hall. do we have a slow down or speed up and enforce all the laws. You cannot even agree not to work overtime

Last week my 16 yr. old niece was approached by a man who tried to entice her to get into his car. When she refused, he followed her. I offered to get her pepper spray, but think it's illegal to mail it to her. Of course I'll do it if necessary; however, I'd like to send her to somewhere in the Valley.

As Special Investigator, McCotter will review investigative procedures to ensure that abuse and neglect reports are investigated swiftly and that confirmed cases are referred to the appropriate authorities with strong supporting evidence. He will also review the policies of the office to better address and fulfill the office’s mission of protecting people with disabilities. McCotter was previously appointed by Governor Quinn as chief public safety officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections and has served in several senior positions at the Chicago Police Department, including chief of patrol, deputy chief of detectives, commander of special events and district commander. McCotter was previously appointed by Governor Quinn as chief public safety officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections and has served in several senior positions at the Chicago Police Department, including chief of patrol, deputy chief of detectives, commander of special events and district commander. He has had professional training with the FBI, United States Secret Service and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, among other law enforcement agencies.

So he has another big job with another big salary. Some guys just can't give it up. Isn't he about 70 by now?

My family and I are on Mancow's heels not only out of the city, but out of the state, and for many overlapping reasons. Last one out, turn out the lights.

If you watch Mancow you have bigger problems than this city.

OT. If anyone from the LA area is reading, can you give me the name of a supply store that will sell to a civilian? The guys from the 024 sent me to Shore when I needed pepper spray while living in Rogers Park in the late 80's and 90's.

Thanks, a civilian and relative to retired CPD & CFD.

A short drive for her in Valencia, has anything she my need.

Here's a choice to ponder. Commander of 011th district or CAPS officer in 020th district. This is a serious question. The headaches and hours that come from that commander position are not worth it. It depends on how you look at your life. For me, at this point in my career, with one year left, I would pick CAPS officer. "Really Really"

Ryan is disliked by everyone except his ball licks. If someone likes him they are most likely one of his office bitches or aspire to be one of his office bitches.

Nothing in the media regarding the poor guy who was walking to the el stop to go to work and was shot and killed in a robbery. under the new concealed carry law in Illinois this guy, even if he had a card, could not have carried on his way to the cta stop as he is prohibited from having a firearm on CTA property.

11/18/2013 02:52:00 PM

Carry anyway. That would only be an ordinance violation I believe, and an ordinance violation is crap. Am I accurate in stating that? Anyone have the answer?

...but

3:27 PM:

loose is an adjective (i.e., the handcuffs were too loose)

lose is a verb (i.e., if I lose my bet)

Also, to a few others: NO ONE is two words. NOONE is an Irish surname.

That's the first grammar police post I actually enjoyed! If they were all like that I say, "Bring on the grammar police!" Maybe you can come up with a name to use so we know it's the 'funny' grammar police?

I agree 100 percent... I'm sure the poster never worked in the ghetto or has less than 5 years on... The typical tuff guy attitude of fk em all... You will learn that not everyone in the ghetto is bad... Give it a try and talk to these people sometime.. You will see that many are pleasant to speak with and like the police... But those numbers are dwindling everyday because of people like you... There is a reason people hate the police, because many have attituide a like you. And not that it matters but I'm sure you will claim I'm a hater or something but I'm white, I live in a nice neighborhood but I can still realize not everyone is bad

11/18/2013 09:30:00 PM

Again, I am the original poster. And yes, I posted without being specific. I only want the shitbirds, the liquor stores, the fake churches, fake revruns, the dope dealers, all the parolees, et. al. targeted.

I have the same attitude of those of you giving me lumps...I came across like an asshole. And I agree too, that I was surprised when I went there how many kind, honest and caring people lived there, and how much they have to endure because they have no CHOICE but to live there.

I've been amazed at how many good residents there are, to have been exposed to what they have been all their lives, and DESPITE that, have high morals and a caring view of the world. And I've never been in a district where people are so grateful for whatever police service you give them and leave them with some kind words such as you are sorry for their loss, etc.

Again, sorry to rile people up with my unthinking post. But the view that came across is not the view I actually hold.

It takes a REAL MAN to admit one's mistakes.
You 'misspoke' you cleared it up.
Case closed.
More people could learn from this post.
Let's get on with backing each other up and going home safe.
We are all in this together.
Thanks to both for treating this as you are so blessed... "Chicago's Finest!"

In the early 1970's young Toni Preckwinkle was a teacher at Visitation Girls Catholic High School at 900 W. Garfield Blvd. She reportedly told the principal that there were too many girls of color in 'Jug' (detention to you non-Catholics).

1971 grad: She was not there yet, but it was a perfect place for her to be. A handful of liberal nuns were ruining the last years of the school. A small riot between the white and black underclassmen left a 9th district policeman with his finger nearly bit off by F/1 off. Only the f/2s involved were expelled. They did not fight with the popo. I drafted a letter to the 9th district signed by students that we did not support some of the faculty's anti police behavior. The school was on its last legs and these are some reasons why it was not salvageable like some other great Catholic schools of the time that were in questionable neighborhoods.
