Hey CBS and Mike Krauser? How does it feel to be Dart's bitch? He calls your bosses and you take down an entire article? Did he claim that the threats endangered him and his family, so you caved? Of course, you come from a long line of bullshit artists, like Dan Rather passing off forged documents as "news," so we aren't really surprised.

Again, we doubt that Dart was threatened by anyone credible. Ed Burke wasn't, but he still has a gun, too. One set of rules for them, and another for the serfs.
UPDATE: CBS put the article back up around 2:04 this afternoon. They added a paragraph about how Dart has supposedly carried a gun for 7 years, but wouldn't admit it when it was pointed out no one has seen him with a gun during that time frame.
The article also calls Dart a "former lawmaker," meaning he has little (if any) law enforcement experience, but carries a gun simply because he's a sheriff - like an aldercreature who can carry a gun by dint of being an elected official - but possibly without completing the mandatory firearms courses.
And all you peons who want a gun under the Second Amendment and Concealed Carry laws, well, you aren't nearly as qualified as a politician says Dart.

I was part of the Sheriff news blog that was removed from the net. Sneed wrote an article in the times a few years back we reported that Sheriff Dart did not have any bodyguards. Dart was doing his usual holier than thou Grandstanding.We approached Sneed with proof he was lying and had round the clock security. Dart immediately claimed he was recently threatened. They also used this fib to get the IP addresses of our blog and The County Guy and made job threats to the Sheriff employees running them. Neither one of these blogs had anything of a threatening nature in them. They claimed that a guy that allegedly threatening Dart mentioned one of these blogs. It was total B.S. Dart didn't want these blogs exposing corruption in his office plain and simple.
In Tommy's narcissistic fantasy world he truly believes he is more important than he really is. It's part of the sickness! He is absorbing all this attention like a sponge. Narcissists crave negative and positive attention.

Dart whether he is elected Sheriff or dogcatcher must still be trained with a weapon if he intends to carry one as per P.A. 79-652. This calls for a minimum of 40 hours of training including range time, classroom, care and cleaning, shotgun familiarization, qualification and a written state exam.
The minimum training for elected Sheriffs as per the Illinois Sheriff's Act does not cut it.
You do not have to carry a gun if you are elected Sheriff. Elrod didn't. O'Grady and Sheahan did as they came up in CPD. Dart, not so much.
I am guessing that Masters and Tilton are most likely better trained to carry a gun than Dart is as they likely trained at either CPD or FBI, and met the minimum student performance objectives to carry a weapon.
Meanwhile back in Gotham City, the lowly tax paying civilians can not carry a gun (yet) and if and when they can they will be subjected to all manner of grief while trying to do so.

I am retired, if I took a naked test I would still have pockets.
I really don't want to sound cold hearted and mean but isn't there some life insurance thru the Sheriff's Dept to cover these funeral expenses?
If there are not, then everyone should step up.
I just don't understand some of these fundraisers that people in our Dept have.
And, I will be honest, there are many that I will not support because I do not see the financial needs of some of these.
Again, I will say that if there is truely a financial need (no insurance, no savings, etc) - then we need to step up.

It is really funny that someone actually mentioned this. LT did not require anyone to pay for the meal. He put the jar for the water fund to donate for next year. so many po's go and take water from the wc office and dont leave a donation for the water fund. I advise anyone who is going to apply for a concealed carry permit to keep good notes as to when you apply, when you get any notices, etc. No doubt they are going to try to make it as difficult a process as possible, and Dart may very well be the target of a class action lawsuit, along with any other city, county or state politicians who try to throw wrenches into the process.
The threats about daring to run Dart are idiotic. If you are a police officer
and become aware of a possible crime it is your duty to look into it. So, run Dart. There is nothing there. He has no FOID card.

Aside from the obvious I noticed added restrictions including specifically "Hooded clothing or clothing with pockets of any type are not permitted. I believe The 100 club gives 50k immediately to the family then there are Local and State benefits on top of any life insurance he had with the County
There may also be some Federal benefits.

Hopefully, everyone understands he was trying to stop an armed robbery and several witnesses made it clear he announced his office prior to doing so.
This is about as 'line of duty' death as they come and his family should receive all appropriate benefits.

John Thomas dropped over at home of a heart attack on furlough. His friends all pushed for line of duty death, and got it.
So anything between that and a shootout in a bank ought to be line of duty.
Another 1st deputy was with his goomah in a lounge and got shot. Line of duty.
