FOP in Springfield

From a source who would know and got hold of us as soon as he observed it, FOP Lobbyist Donahue was in Springfield for the run-up to the pension vote. That's good to know we had a presence there at the very least.

Also, Rahm was in near constant contact with Springfield yesterday morning. Our contact relates that Rahm desperately wanted to tie Chicago pensions into the Springfield legislation, but was shut down by Cullerton's people who didn't want to trick-bag the Chicago cabal that was voting today to screw everyone except Chicago at this point in time.

A lot of bad blood tonight and today over these votes. Democrats who have had no problem accepting union money for the past decades pretty much screwed their most loyal voters. They told stories, stretched the truth, out-and-out lied about the pyramid scheme they were building on borrowed money. Republicans who told the truth about unsustainable money fantasies were derided, demonized and dismissed along with anyone who attempted to preach fiscal responsibility.

Just a thought, but tomorrow might be a good time to start another voter drive via the FOP and CFD union.

OVER 7800 people are getting pensions worth over $100,000 a year in Illinois ..
MANY are politicians ..
One of them is named "RICHARD".

MANY of them get a 3% compounded COLA each year.

WE DO NOT !!!

There are over 180 people getting a pension worth over $200,000 a year.

Some make as much as $470,000 plus a year!!

Go after these bastards...
we make spit on our pension with NO Social Security !!

Pretty soon it will be time to pull out the guns just like they did in the early 1770's ....

A revolution is brewing !

Yea, it sure would SCC, but maybe you haven't been paying attention for the last decade or so. The "Real Police" have been too busy making those 2 and 3-baggers and sandbagging folks on vehicle impounds with nary a wink of discretion to be concerned about some voter thingy. Gotta keep that spot on the tact or Saturation team, dontcha know.

So quit with all that crazy talk! This generation can't be bothered with little things like being registered to vote. And staying informed about issues that'll effect their future? Why worry about that silly pension when you have a $75 court date in handcuffs in the back seat for a single bag of dope?

Ironically though, these same hard-ons are the first to criticize the union regarding 'The Letter' as if they're well-versed on the intricacies involved in the whole process. They've done their homework, ya see, and talked to that friendly lawyer that frequents the gin mill. The one that specializes in "wills and stuff", and who convinced them that a 1-2% retroactive check for a year is the be-all, end-all when it comes to their "financial footprint".

Our pensions could be totally eliminated tomorrow and the usual hard chargers wouldn't even give it a second look. You'd think that living paycheck to paycheck might motivate more people to get educated and involved, but it all makes perfect sense when you think about it: lax hiring standards has allowed the blissfully ignorant to become a large part of our ranks.

Coincidence? Methinks not. Exactly how they planned it is more plausible.

Why? If they haven't been observing the events the past few decades and voting all along, they probably aren't informed enough to be counted on to vote sensibly at election time. We got the government we voted for because we've allowed socialists to brainwash our young and didn't exercise our franchise to vote the rascals out. Your apathy got us to this point, now go whine about how we're getting screwed and it's not your fault. I've been voting since 1976. And I can tell you this, almost none of the people I voted for ever won an election, but I voiced my displeasure for these damn marxists every 2 years.

The only presidents since Truman that have been worth a damn are Eisenhower and Reagan. And for you Reagan detractors, kiss my bottom! After that horses butt Carter, because of Reagan, at least one could be proud to be an American for a change. He rebuilt the military and the economy was booming.

Funny thing here is that this jerkoff really believes he still has a chance.

Active members better wake up and cast ballots in the next election. Shields is courting the shit out of the retirees and is absolutely counting on their votes. The retirees do vote, but they are in the minority if the actives vote.

Which of them do you think might read a 500 page bill? They never read a 500 page anything in their lives.

Just hurry up and vote, we will find out what is in it later. And remember, that court we take it to has already been bought off. The pension changes do not include them That was their gift so they are not ruling on their own pensions. Which way would you go if you were a judge?

It's funny that Madigan who has been in charge of the majority(democrats)in the house for over 30years, and runs all legislation thru the house only if he personally approves of it, and has watched and greatly participated in the pension crisis over his stay in power and has full support of unions and their money, and has opposing democrats afraid to oppose him on legislation for fear of his revenge if they vote against him, will probably have the same union support and money of the same people(unions) he stabbed in the back concerning their pensions.
So who's the fool.......certainly not Madigan.....it's the unions that keep him in power. Wake up people. Get out and VOTE, and tell the unions to stop wasting your money on these backstabbers and start supporting people who truly care about issues and pensions.

As much as it pains me to say it, Illinois Republicans fucked us over right along with the Democrats. This game has been played since the 70's. The truth is, we allowed it to happen. We all new these pension plans were pyramid schemes.
Police, Fire, teachers, and all necessary services unions rank & file need to stand together, take back there unions from the political hacks in charge, and then stick it to the crony politicians with our votes, and if necessary, strikes and slow downs. And I'm not talking about involving the SEIU political voting armies with their hands out who have destroyed what unions meant to those of us and our parents who fought so hard for a fair wage and benefits. I'm talking to the blue collar members, who show up every day to put food on the table and leave something better for our kids.

Not only was the FOP represented in Springfield yesterday, but Doanhue did a great job of testifying in committee against the pension reform bill. I was sitting in committee and heard him testify that the bill is flawed because, among other things, it doesn't consider the risk imposed to those in high-risk and demanding jobs, who will be forced to work several more years.

The fix was definitely in for the pension bill but Donahue didn't back down.

Our Union has to gather all the hired guns in the Law and Accounting Professions.

Have them get together with assorted F.O.P. members, both Board Members and Beat Car Warriors and compile a plan to help save the Pension as we know it.

Help to enact a plan that is good for us, good for the taxpayer, and will be sustainable.

Go over the money that is going out of City Hall to all the Special Projects that should not be spent until they pay our pension the money owed.

Make the public aware that most members Do Not get Social Security and the Members that have 40 credit hours paid into Social Security from working other jobs before, during, and after being employed by the City get Penalized an average of 60 Percent. This is due to a law pushed through by that Rotten S.O.B. Rostenkowski.

Detail from past contracts that we gave up other benefits to enhance benefits in the Pension.

Does anybody remember until the late 70's that all overtime earned (comp hours) was erased from the books over a certain amount of hours from the previous year?

Can I get those hours back?

Can I get the Social Security Payment I am owed?

Can I get the Health Care I was promised?

Come On F.O.P.

So now if he went down to Springfield some of his minions might jump ship and concur with the motion. Ask how can a legal motion be made and passed but yet the Dictator says no, more charges need to be placed against the Dictator.
You question Marks salary well the Dictator has now brought up another new field rep at another additional salary and added him to your account. Yes another Captain salary that we will all be paying for of course the rep might be an excellent horseman we are not sure how well versed he will be at bargaining our contract with the city, but Shields made sure Bill and Sid are out of the office who we all voted in. Shields sure showed all of us he rules the roost and does not give a dam about how he is spending our money.

Unless we make ourselves heard, the sham continues, until we're standing in line for our 17 cents on the dollar.

We need to stand together? We did and our unions, all three, were so smart that they endorsed most of the politicians that voted for the pension bill. We endorse and vote for them and they turn around and vote against us.
Read the previous endrsements and compare them to how they voted and you will be shocked

No, we don't. Detroit didn't have millions, or is that billions, squirreled away in TIF funds. THOSE would have to be used before any bankruptcy would be considered.
Rahm does not intend to be the mayor who presided over Chicago's bankruptcy. It would ruin him and Rahm doesn't intend to be ruined by this little steppingstone of a job.

And we better start doing it now instead of waiting until after the vote.
A huge point that is never brought up and that the public is not aware of is not all police pensions are the same. Compare us to the state police where their pension is based on their last day and they can collect 80% Big difference between our last 48 months and 75%

Long time suburban cop here. You C.P.D. guys and gals need to get together and stop fighting among yourselves. We as police officers must put aside petty differences and stick together. Political power is with numbers and money. How can we all as police officers get anyone to listen to us when we can not even get along? C.P.D. has the largest amount of members in this rotten state. Suburban P.O.'s will join in any meaningful political actions that will help all of us. Back "in the day" most if not all police officers got along pretty well. We need to get together again and start protecting ourselves. If we don't no one else will look out for us. Stay safe all.

I agree. I came on the job at 22. I hate hearing these guys who came on the job at 39 saying that we get to retire too early. They only say that because it doesn't effect them and they already have to work until 60 anyway. They forget that I worked this job 17 years before they entered the academy. This is a physical job and physical skills deteriorate
___________________________________

I couldn't agree with you any more than I already do. I came on this job at 23, and I couldn't imagine doing damn near 40 years on this job. With the overall physicality the job requires, it's not meant to be a job worked for 40+ years. The question that I always have for the non-police she they say we should work to 65 like them is if they're being attacked and need to call the police, do they want a 25 year old officer coming to help, or a 65 year old officer coming to wrestle or have to chase the guy? I'm not suggesting that a 65 year old officer can't help, but when push comes to shove, I'd rather have the younger more athletic officer in certain situations. This is a young mans game, and if the city wants a department full of 60 year old paper pushers, that's probably what they're going to get.

These guys that are blaming younger officers for this mess are either trolling or completely out of their minds. Do they really believe that if Shields lost the election that the city would have stopped with the pension holidays? Do they believe that Rahm would have suddenly been convinced to make the upcoming state law required payments to the funds? The public hates the fact that public workers receive pensions, and this storm has been coming for years. We could have elected Ronald Reagan as FOP president and Madigan and his crew still would have voted for that bill yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sticking up for Shields, I didn't vote for him and think he's a tool, but this bill was coming one way or the other. These old guys act as if their buddy Bill Nolan was never complicit with the city's avoidance of their required pension payments. The city pension funds have been a disaster for years, but either these old guys had their heads in the sand like they're accusing the young guys of now doing, or they're just assholes for trying to place blame on someone other than where it belongs; on the city. I hope everyone has been contributing to the 457b, because you're probably going to need it.

There are several ways to find out depending on how much time you have.
First you could petition the Illinois State Supreme Court with a request to see the vote or you could drive down to Springfield and go to both the house and senate and request a copy of the vote.
That is after you received a top secret security clearance from the pentagon so you will be able to gain access to the vote
or maybe you could just read the Sun Times or Tribune

there is not even a remote chance that public employee unions will get on board with any kind of fiscal responsibility. it is just not in their interest.

a bill that takes care if perhaps 10% of the problem draws this kind of disfavor. imagine what would happen to any union leader that was seen as being even remotely in favor of a real solution.

there is no provision for a state to go bankrupt. states are sovereign entities and there really is not much that can be done about the situation short of the voters of the state doing it, and I have seen no evidence that the unholy alliance of public employee labor unions and the welfare crowd are going to allow anything that will actually fix the problem.
