Church, State, Schools?

  • One of the seven new charters schools CPS approved on Wednesday, Concept Schools, is run by Turkish immigrants and has close ties to Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, the Sun-Times points out. Although Concept officials deny any religious or political affiliations, records show extensive ties between the charter schools and organizations belonging to a movement led by the influential but reclusive Turkish Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen.

Those groups include Chicago-based nonprofits that have sponsored dozens of trips to Turkey for Madigan and other state House Democrats.
And if you aren't following the international scene, you might not know that Turkey's government, formerly very secular, is rapidly becoming co-opted by religious extremists. We'll let the readers guess as to the religion being practiced. And while you're at it, you can wonder about Illinois politicos being wined and dined by this government.

Off with your head! Infidel!

Alcohol is forbidden by the Holy Quran.

Perhaps you mean "Tea-ed and weed."

And as Carnac the Magnificent would say, "May an unclean yak have an accident on your toupee."

Our beloved president has strong ties to the Muslim religion. It is good to see other politicians and educators that if they are not actual Muslims are strongly sympathetic towards a great and expanding religion. Can this be part of the fundamental change that our Dear Leader has promised to bring about for the U.S.?

Yes, Islam will court the infidels and make them feel quite comfortable.
Once the upper hand is achieved. ....Madigan bar the door.
How can a Christian man with a daughter behave so irresponsibly ?
Perhaps he thinks he struck a deal with them.
They have no intention of honoring it.

Can someone tell me why Rham is sucking off DePaul? He is planning on turning a CPS High school into a DePaul Prep School. Anyone can put it together?

OFF TOPIC - Bread and Water

PHOENIX, Jan. 24 (UPI) --
Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona's Maricopa County said inmates who defaced American flags in their cells will be fed only bread and water for a week.

The flags were placed in cells in November in a patriotism campaign by the sheriff, who accused some inmates of "tearing them, writing on them, stepping on them, throwing them in the toilet, trash or wherever they feel. It's a disgrace," CNN reported.

In addition to the display of flags, the "Star Spangled Banner" is played over the jail intercom each morning and every evening inmates hear "God Bless America," the report said.

The flags were put in cells after Arpaio announced he would hire more veterans.

He says more than 600 male and female veterans work for the sheriff's department, which manages 8,000 inmates.

Seems those private (Catholic) schools are not all that great either. Many are behind the times when it comes to computer training for the students.

Wait you close 58 schools, but now want to build and open more? You can't fund the pension because of no money but you find billions for this!

On another note Toni precwinkel on the news talking about redoing forest preserves and easy way is to just raise taxes to fund it! Yep Toni part of the Chicago criminal combine, just raise taxes, but are you in for raising taxes for the first responders pension fund you and your cohorts stole from?

Not good. Hello FBI and homeland security. Time to remove some more criminals from their political offices. Or send them to Turkey permanently. Plenty of prison cells over there.

Google Gulan schools. They are Muslim influenced and anti CHristian Curiculum. Chicago math and science on Clark is Gulan as well as a school in Peoria. The Gulan movement is big in other parts of the country and is just coming to Illinois. It is anti American cultural exceptionalism and pro moral equivalency. They will feed this into your ten year olds mind. Look this up. Don't believe me. An organization called act for America is trying to make people aware

These politicians are absolutely shameless. They have no concern where the money comes from, even if it is from an extremist religious group who's only goal is to annihilate the U.S. and non-believers around the world. As long as the cash flow keeps coming, that's all they care about, no matter how much dirt or how much blood it is covered in.

This is a worrisome issue, but not at all a simple case of "Moslem infiltration".

Gülen has been around for quite a while. He doesn't seem to have much in common with the hard-line jihadists and Islamists. He was run out of Turkey when the government was still run by the secularist-military coalition, but his organization was never suppressed and always had lots of followers.

Since 2001, Turkey has been ruled by the AK Party, which says it is pro-Moslem-but-democratic-not-jihadist, and presided over a "capitalist" economic boom for several years. Gülen never endorsed AK and didn't go back to Turkey.

AK has been more and more dictatorial in recent years. Lots of senior military officers have been arrested on trumped-up conspiracy charges, also lots of reporters. The government has also flirted with jihadists of various stripes.

Recently the government's high-handed actions provoked massive public reactions from secular-minded Turks, especially in the big cities. Most recently, prosecutors indicted several top AK insiders for corruption. This has been seen as a move against the AK by Gülen's movement - the prosecutors are tied to them, IIRC.

There are Gülen-affiliated charter schools in several states. There's no evidence of Moslem indoctrination at these schools. There have been claims that the schools are "cash cows" and patronage farms for Gülen's organizations; some have been shut down.

Just A Civilian (who lives three blocks from CMSA, and has been following these stories for years)
