Burglaries Down
- A man who was breaking into a home was shot to death by a property owner in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood this morning, authorities said.
Mario Viramontes, 31, was declared dead on the scene in 2000 block of West 21st Street at 9:22 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Police were called to the scene about 9:10 a.m. for a burglary, and when they arrived, they found that a “male offender” who had been trying to commit a burglary had been shot by the homeowner, said Police News Affairs [...].
No one has been charged in the incident....
Here's to many more.

Nice shooting, citizen. Keep up the good work.
One less voter for the socialist democrats.
The homeowner's FOID card was expired. He got charged for that.
Very nice!
They did end up dinging the homeowner for an expired FOID card. That in itself should be a life sentence (assuming you're not a Daley).
In all, a job well done by the homeowner.

Dude was shot in the face..awesome!
The city should give that man an award
Bang ! One down how many more rats will the home owner eliminate. I applaud you sir great Job. NRA lets
Give this crime fighter a new box of amo.
God bless the American dream To Bear Arms.
Seriously, you should have a "like"button
I think the title of this topic should have read, "Burglar Down."
Shit happens
Going to be seeing a whole lot more of these once ISP gets out CCW permits.
Except they won't be from inside homes.
Let's hope his count of expired FOID gets some help from the NRA. Let's abolish that stupid card since either way the ISP is terrible at revoking them.
The city of Maceió is said to be the 3rd most violent worldwide, the population aren't tolerating any more criminals, violence leaves people angry.

Ayeeeeeee curamba! Heeeeees got a gun. That's not fair. Only us rats are supposed to have guns.
Charged with expired foid..... Should be given a suspended sentence, commendation for excellence in his community and priority renewal by the ISP.
Grew up a block west of there. Couple doors east of the taffy apple factory.
Wonder if this Viramontes is a relative of the p.o.s that did the Wicker Park head bat bashing incident
A second offender beat feet out the door. Anyone show up at an emergency room after walking down the street, minding his own business and "feeling a pain" only to find a bullet in his ass?
Excellent news the start has started you can bet a few more of these and the bad guy's might have to try and roll the dice.
Great news. One less asshole on the street.
One down and thousands more to go!
Who's the asshole supervisor who certainly ordered the arrest of a citizen protecting his family. WTF.Whatever happen to the tool we used to call discretion?. This is a case I'm sure the NRA will look into, in bringing action against the City in an attempt to remove this requirement for a FOID.

Don't be too sure of that. This is still Chicago. Remember vote often and early!
Now that's what I call gun control!

Please tell me that's not true. If so, I hope the NRA takes up his cause and goes to trial on this. Since when does a Constitutional right require a card from the government, especially a government with a track record of denying that right?
Where is your First Amendment Freedom of Speech card issued by the government? Where is your Freedom of Worship card? These socialists and their anti gun agenda need to be stopped in their tracks.
I prefer dead burglars over caught burglars. Dead ones are much cheaper on the tax payer. Nice shooting citizen
A parade should be given for the homeowner.
He should be handed the key to the city.
We should pass the hat for his defense fees on the FOID charge. If he were a cartel drug trafficker charged with a dozen Class Xs, or a relative of Daley, I'd say he has nothing to worry about -- the SAO will SOL. But here's a citizen defending his home against a home invasion -- the Cook Co SAO is likely to come down hard on this citizen.

Who the fuck approved the charges?" What an asshole!
Unless there is someone home at the time of the "attempt entry" the crime is being re-classified as damage to property, check your stats
P.S. Excellent shooting, give that person an automatic concealed carry permit
The homeowner got charged because his FOID was expired?? Really ?? WTF - over.

Its an affirmative defense in a justified shooting that you do not even need an FOID card.
Mc Dummy is bragging about shooting, murders and crime is down 50% for January from last year. Never once did he mention the weather. He better pray for floods in June, July and August.
What a maroon.
We are aware of it, trying to find contact info on the home owner. any help would be appreciated

Good job by the homeowner. And, fortunately for him, he lives in America. If this had happened in England, the homeowner would have gone to prison for the shooting, and be forced to pay damages to the family of the offender.
God Bless America!
Viramontes. Same last name as the asshole that beat the Irish girl with the baseball bat. Any relation? I'm retired, can't look it up.

Gives them an excuse to snatch the guy's gun. Now he will have a hell of a time buying another one because he has been charged with a firearm offense. If his name were only Vanecko he would be OK.
scc, wouldn't the Castle Doctrine trump having an f.o.i.d. card?
Another Happy ending!
YES!!!
The FOID card charge should be thrown out! It amounts to a silly parking ticket!
This homeowner did all taxpayers a huge favor! He should get an award!
Hey NRA, Let's get a lawsuit going over the dumb FOID law!
Another violation of the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution!

Yeah, but caught burglars are good for court OT.
Now that he is dead I'm sure that Mr. Viramontes will be voting Democrat.
Is Mario Viramontes related to Heriberto Viramontes of the Bucktown sluggers.
Ah the Pilsen justice.
Hey, señor Rhamf, good luck with collecting the fine.

Guess what? Crime is down 34% this january over 2013. It's that reinvention of policing, I betcha!

You, sir, are a true American and doing God's work here in this communist run state. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do against the forces of evil who are in charge.

Somebody on that watch should be able to put the two of you in touch with each other. Thanks, Mr. V.
If his FOID was expired but he otherwise was able to possess firearms then fuck whoever made the decision to charge this guy.
