- Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police is asking Google to reveal the identity of whoever posted recordings of two heated FOP meetings on YouTube, saying they violated state law.
FOP attorneys have filed a petition in Cook County Circuit Court to learn the “account information of the person or persons who authored and published a video and audiotape on YouTube.com that included an illegally and surreptitiously recorded FOP Board of Directors meeting.”
Two videos posted on Sept. 30 show a series of FOP board members’ photos accompanied by an audio recording of a raucous board meeting earlier that month. Someone using the pseudonym “Rahm Wannabee” posted the videos.

Veterans affairs committee chair Sid Davis has been mute on this from the start. Sid has lost all honor in this vicious attack on the vet.
The vet was friends with Dean Angelo's team. That was clear right from the beginning. The vet got what he asked for and yet this is still an issue because Dean wants to deflect that he has been on disability for 9 years taking checks from our pension fund while working at Calument College. If you can walk unassisted and shoot you can come back to work like me. Won't get my vote.
This shit is old news. Who gives a shit? The only thing left from the Shields regime and Al Jaglowski and Tim Murphy won't let it die. BTW both of these goofs voted to let Shields pick his own hearing panel. Remember that when you don't vote for them.
I just hope when our contract goes to the arbitrator he gives us a fair shake.
If Geiger wins this lawsuit, he and the FOP and the bosses on the CPD and at City Hall for that matter will have a legal precedent in place to go after the people who post anonymously here on SCC .... think about that for a minute. Who benefits from this effort at intimidation?

So whoever posted that kangaroo committee meeting still has a case report on file.
And losing the job is not totally out of the realm.
But it just as bad as badmouthing a vet at an open meeting while wearing a cast on your arm.
Apparently it's all about the FOP board of Trustees and there election.
I do not want my dues money wasted on this. I do not want Paul Geiger to waste his time on this. I want him to get us a contract. Give that expended money to an officer in need.

Well isn't this ironic. We opposed the 7th circuits ruling and now one of our fellow police officers is doing the same thing. The board is considered active and on duty at the time of meetings and fair game for recording. Trust nobody and don't ever say anything in public that you don't want on tape. This is going nowhere with Google. They have a team of people that handle this every day. City wide team can breathe a little easier. So I guess Geiger is staying on the job even though he was legal council behind not sending this letter or maybe he was conspiring from the get go to get his good friend Bill Doherty elected. Wow it never ends.
Illinois is a two-party recording State, so this could be some bullshit attempt at chilling speech.
To the future recorders, if you want to do this - 1) Buy a "burner" phone for CASH some place like Indiana. Park down the street, walk to the store.
2) Keep said phone OFF until you get to the meeting hall.
3) Turn it on, but don't attach to any networks - leave it in "airplane" mode. Leave the WIFI off.
4) Make the recording.
5) Turn the phone off. Take the battery out.
6) Go to a library somewhere away from where you live/work. If your library doesn't have WIFI - then skip #7, find an open WIFI network, and go to #8
7) Park down the street, walk in.
8) Go online - preferably with a TOR connection. Create a YouTube channel w/a disposable address (cf: www.mailinator.com).
9) Turn the phone's WIFI on. Upload to the YouTube channel - preferably with a TOR connection.
Post a few links to your favorite website - and NOT with your account. Create a fake one with a different disposable address.
10) Turn the phone off. Take the battery out. Destroy the phone - put it in a bag. Smash it with a sledgehammer - pulverize it. Put some of the remains in trash cans away from where you work and live.
11) Never use that email address again. Never access that YouTube channel again.
12) Keep your mouth shut - tell no one anything.
We need someone with experience in our FOP. All of this finger pointing will only hurt us. Focus and represent me. I want my retro, pension and medical. Enough of this media circus. Get us our due.
I called the fop the other day and asked to file a grievance. I was told that it would be 3 years before my case was heard!
Now I know why. it is because these idiots spend their time and our money on ridiculous lawsuits.
The first order of business for the new fop president should be to ban the names Shields, Dougherty and Geiger from ever being uttered again.

I don't think it is "strife." The ENTIRE BOARD which includes Angelo & Clean Slate & Citywide candidates voted to have the lawyers try to find out who taped the meeting. It is the right thing to do.
Finding out who taped the meeting is important. But maybe we should have a look at the board members who allowed shields to pick his own commitee. In particular, all of the Angelo team members on the Board voted to let mikey pick the commitee to hear charges against him. Why would they do that? Dean has some explaining to do.
Is anyone at the F.O.P. even remotely concerned about the impending assault on our pension benefits? Both the mayor and Sen. Cullerton have stated that pension reform in Chicago will be a high priority. Today's Tribune even furnished a wildly inaccurate projection of $18,000 of debt from every man, woman and child in Chicago.
I understand that the F.O.P. currently is experiencing internal strife, but nevertheless, they should not abrogate their responsibilities towards their membership.
I propose they take a very proactive approach towards the upcoming assault on our pensions. They need to compile a complete mailing list of all current retirees and their spouses that can be used for both notification as well as possible impending solicitations for legal expenses should that be necessary. Waiting until our pension laws are violated wastes valuable time. The time to act is now. Every retired member, disabled member, surviving spouse and member of the PBPA needs to be contacted and solicited for their email address so they can be kept abreast of all assaults on our rightfully deserved pensions. Explorations into hiring a law firm must begin now so that immediate legal defenses can occur once our rights are violated. Law firms must be vetted to ensure the best representation.
I am amazed that many retirees who move out of state know little about what is occurring at City Hall or in Springfield.
Every current or aspiring F.O.P. or P.B.P.A. officer should make this a priority in the union agenda. To sit in silence is akin to leading the lambs to slaughter.

Instead of the visits to roll calls where all the false promises are made, this election concerns us brothers and sisters, this is our career choice, whoever is elected needs to answer to us. This is about our contract, pension, health care, disciplinary, promotion process.

Finally a sensible idea we could have a 4 hour debate 1st hour president 2-4 hour the vp candidates all in person all in front, feet to the fire winner take all. This would be great as then we can question who lies and who can actually represent the beleaguered membership the best! Everyone on that FOP Board knows that the person who taped that meeting was JM. The real questions that need to be asked is , Who had the computer savy to upload all the pictures of the Board Members who are not on the citywide team. This could lead to someone much higher up on that ticket who has a much better grasp on computer knowledge. This could be a death blow to the citywide team and could be the explaination why they have circled the wagons around JM, even they all to a man voted to boot out the perpitrator when he was found. Could this be why Fran ie D. can not be reached and wont return the calls to the Detective in charge of the case. Frank named himself the victim on the case report. Food for thought.

Sorry there legal eagle, you don't know what you're talking about.
FOP is suing to get the information because they contend a crime was committed, and keeping this information secret abets the criminal to conceal the crime. When this information is handed over, a brief investigation will ensue and then criminal charges will be filed.
So no, this suit won't give the shitbag Emanuel any legal precedent to force an online search engine to provide user data just because it embarrasses his fucking ass or that of scumbag political hack CPD bosses. If a crime is committed on this blog, it's a different story. Emanuel and all CPD bosses are public employees and as such can suffer no damage to their reputation unless they are unable to obtain credit, a job or otherwise financially harmed.
This same law works against YOU when CPD posts your name all over the media as being accused of wrongdoing. You're not being financially harmed because they're still paying you to work, as an example. Get it?

Yes, you can create a fake youTube/google name. But there's information that's traceable which is tied to it - IP address, MAC address of the network device tied to that IP address.
So you need to anonymize yourself as best you can.
Burner phone: Unused MAC address for the WIFI. IMEI that's linked to few if any Cell towers (if you put it in airport mode, it's not going to transmit for the most part).
Using an open WIFI network or library - gets you an IP address that's not associated with anything associated with your normal usage.
Using it once, and destroying it makes it a one-off use that's MUCH harder to track.
Creating a fake email address with a place that doesn't log the IP's - like mailinator.com gives you a better chance of having some anonymous email. If you use that bogus account to sign up with google/youtube - they've got very little to go on. At least nothing that can be conclusively proven to have only been used by you.
Adding TOR to the mix makes it even more murky to trace... All this = plausible deniability.
Pulverizing the phone and distributing the dust in multiple locations means it's less likely to ever be found and reassembled...
If these are all locations you're not ever at - there's more deniability...
Push the scales of doubt well past 51% for a preponderance of evidence, and way up toward 90% for beyond a reasonable doubt...
Be careful... be safe.

What the CityWide Guys want is to distract you from their capability. Mark Donahue said that this was a strategic decision not to send in the letter! Really? When Donahue comes out to any more roll calls ask him to name one vote he changed in the Pension Reform session in Springfield.
Ask Mark how he signed into the hearing and vote on the Park District Pension Reform as in favor of it. If he says it was a mistake ask him if that was done on purpose for Fran Hurley and he only got caught when the Park District Retirees raised hell when the union negotiated away some of their pension benefits. That a big mistake.
How many mistakes did he make negotiating with the city in past contracts?
Ask Mark for a pension report on what HE has accomplished as our lobbyist. Has he ever presented the membership a lobbyist’s report?

I don't think it is "strife." The ENTIRE BOARD which includes Angelo & Clean Slate & Citywide candidates voted to have the lawyers try to find out who taped the meeting. It is the right thing to do.
Finding out who taped the meeting is important. But maybe we should have a look at the board members who allowed shields to pick his own commitee. In particular, all of the Angelo team members on the Board voted to let mikey pick the commitee to hear charges against him. Why would they do that? Dean has some explaining to do.
From what I heard they followed what the by laws state. There seems to be nothing to explain. There were other executive board members who had their own agendas to have shields removed one way or another.
This shit is old news. Who gives a shit? The only thing left from the Shields regime and Al Jaglowski and Tim Murphy won't let it die. BTW both of these goofs voted to let Shields pick his own hearing panel. Remember that when you don't vote for them.

Mike Shields was thrown out was it because he exposed some on the members running to the membership? Who was afraid of what Mike Shields exposed, or was about to expose?
Here's a novel concept why not use the fop hall and have a debate on the top 4 spots, where we could sit them down and ask questions, not soft questions but hard questions! Instead of the visits to roll calls where all the false promises are made, this election concerns us brothers and sisters, this is our career choice, whoever is elected needs to answer to us. This is about our contract, pension, health care, disciplinary, promotion process.

1. The police have contributed to their pensions fully and in good faith.
2. The average pension is around 45k., not over $100,000 as the media likes to portray.
3. Our menial raises have not kept up with inflation.
4. The city has failed to pay more than the minimum creating a pension deficit.
5. The city has plenty of money for frivolous things yet can't meet it's financial obligations.
6. Even though we have put in ALL our quarters, thanks to Rostinkowski and his demented words of a windfall, our S.S. benefits are cut in half despite our payments for side jobs or jobs prior to the CPD.
7. We always work years past an expired contract and no one cares. If the teachers go 5 days without a contract is National news.
Feel free to expand this list. I have asked numerous times of our FOP rep to please ask the union about taking out some ads and getting face time so our side can be heard. I have even offered to help collect a few bucks from other members to get the ball rolling. Maybe SCC can get enough people to demand the FOP start defending us in the media. Now the public hears it will cost every man woman and child $18,000 to repair the pensions. Public opinion is a powerful animal and they never hear a peep from our own union or media guy.

No By-Law says that you get to pick your own committee for the charges against you. This is in the mind of Shields people, not the patrolmen on the street

Gave Mike Shields sound and experienced advice when he was elected to get rid of the snakes! Instead, what does he do? He takes on Cobra Donahue and keeps slithering Doughtery! You seem to have missed the part about recording law enforcement IN THE COURSE OF THEIR EMPLOYMENT.
The law doesn't allow for recording an officer on his off time, or when he's in the john, or any number of other scenarios, including when he's in a private, closed meeting of a group that explicitly prohibits private recordings of their proceedings.

Daugherty was asked by Shields' former secratary, to sign the letter, but he refused. Billy is for Billy and the hell with everyone else!
If Shields had an out when it came to sending the letter like "Anyone from the FOP could have sent it" then why didn't he use it? He didn't use it because he couldn't use it. It has to be sent by him as the chief negotiator and president of our union. Instead of saying nobody told me he could of said Doherty, DiMaria, or Gorman could have sent the letter since they knew about it. Problem being Mikey knew that wouldn't fly because the letter was his, and only his responsibility. Why else would he have stated in the September Newsletter "As the President of this Lodge, the responsibility of submitting the letter lies with me". Anybody that tells you different has their head so far up his ass they can't see the light of day or their running for election. Remember that when you hear that bullshit being spread around and also remember that Mikey the dictator had 16 votes and controlled those 15 board members at every turn just like when they allowed him to handpick the committee who heard the charges against him.
