This is Just Dumb

Remember when they used to be able to clear streets from curb-to-curb?

That's a "plowed" bike lane, completely iced over, pretty much unusable and eating up a lane of traffic in each direction. Silly Rahm.

So now the bicyclists just ride in the only remaining traffic lane since it's clear. Absolutely crazy.

Anyone who runs on the platform that s/he will 1)get rid of the bike lanes and 2) get rid of the red light and speed cameras, will easily beat Rahm the carpetbagger.

This is because they put that idiot Charlie Williams in charge of snow plowing operations!!!!!!!!

This has to be the worst year for snow plowing, they used to do curb to curb, now you have them only doing one lane and half of the other lane 111 Langley, 115 Langley look at different parts of the city, this administration SUCKS!!!!!!

OT: why does nothing posted in the police stations by the CityWide Team have a logo from a union print shop? Tommy McDonagh has it on his as does Dean Angelo. Why use a scab printer for union election?

The CityWide guys have to be very worried if they let retired SERGEANT Mike Voight run and campaign now for a trustee spot in a POLICE OFFICERS UNION.

Do not vote for anyone associated with the CityWide Team! Using scab printers and running Sgt.'s for office should not be what FOP is about.

PS Please come back to the 9th District so we can eat your lunch again!

But nobody could foresee this when they thought up this stupid idea? Where's that at? I'm going to take a bike out there and see how far I get before I wipe out, and when I do, I'm calling the law offices Dewey, Cheatem, & Howe to file my lawsuit.

Almost took out a stupid, center mounted pedestrian crossing sign in the driving snow two nights ago. Who the hell expects a pale grey, salt-crusted, three foot tall obstruction in the middle of the road during a blinding snowstorm?
If I wasn't doing more with less (which means keeping a 9year old car one more year), I'd have done us all a favor and taken a few down. Problem is, then you have a stump sticking out of the ground to cripple the pedestrians and flatten the car tires.

No, that is because they put cordoned-off BIKE LANES there and made it impossible to plow.

I haven't seen a bike in those lanes since November. There were very few then. As a matter of fact, there are few bikes in those lanes in the summer.

The bike lanes and the Divvy bike flop were tied together. Another huge failure on the part of the Mayor. How much did we lose Mr. Emmanuel.

I lived in Chicago back in the late 70s for a short time. A lot of side streets never got plowed edge to edge back then. they would come though and plow down the center.

I don't care about a socialist union logo on a piece of paper that makes it cost more than one run by an American capitalist. Blow it out your ass, commie. I'll bet you have a Proud Union Home poster in your window and did like your union bosses told you to do and voted for Obama. Because he's a socialists too. Moron.

I don't know if you are aware of this, but streets that have the bike lanes such as Elston, Clybourn and the loop that separate the bike lanes from car lanes are plowed as follows, the dept. of transportation plows the bike lanes with some small type of plow while the streets and sans trucks do the car lanes. this was told to me by a high ranking boss in this fine city organization, also this scam that Rahm is pulling regarding checking on where the plows ar working is BULLSHIT, I put my address in and it gave me the time and truck number, I then put in a street in my ward but a few miles away and it gave me the exact same time and truck number. THIS MAYOR AND CITY SUCKS

It's obvious they are only doing a single strip on most streets as a cost saving move. Most through streets used to get cleaned curb to curb, now only major thoroughfares do. All other streets get a single lane with salt to make it passable. They don't care about cleaning it, making it safe to park and walk, they want just barely passable. They piss away the budget on political benefits and create drastic shortages in everything from emergency services to road salt and plowing overtime, tree trimming, rodent control etc, and expect the taxpayer to just accept it and pay more for less.

Who's going to clear snow from the bike lanes?

According to him (the worthless) Commissioner C. Williams said "well, we are going to be using the old Police ATV's to plow the bike lanes.

What a fucking JOKE~!

Why don't we chain ol' Cholly to an old Police ATV with a plow attachment, super-glue the throttle and aim his ass down the ramp southbound on the northbound dan ryan @ 79th?

A debate? That would show raw courage, none of these guys at the top (why no women?) have it, it could be the four top spots who stand to make over $160,000. Per year per person could debate, it would let us the membership get a handle on who is the best to be a leader! Not this pansy stuffing roll calls with all the fluff and free notepads, gentlemen running how about it? Or are you afraid to face the real police? You want to control our destiny then bring it, if not pack your stuff and tell mommy how great you could of been!

Okay, what do you expect the guy to do? It's not like he could tell you what he really thinks of the bike lanes, or anything else. He inherited the bike lanes and all the lack of planning that went with them. So, he'll clear them as best he can with whatever garbage equipment he has available. If you want to lay blame, put it on the two idiot mayors that curried favor and votes by installing bike lanes without any planning or consideration of 'unimportant' stuff like snow, ice and safety.

These bike lanes are the stupidest thing ever. Lake Street used to be a nice alternate. The bikers don't use them, they just ride in the street and blast through lights, like someone else mentioned. How about, if you're going to carve out large portions of the public roads for bikes, let's license, and register, and tax, and insure them just like cars? Until then, they should stick to the forest preserves. I hope that isn't too "un-green" of me...not.
