Vest Theft Rumor

We were hoping that this wasn't actually true:
  • Anonymous said...
No mention about the dude posted up in district stations pretending to sell vest covers? Then stealing coppers vests!

    1/26/2014 01:30:00 AM

You mean no mention of the convicted felon allowed to set up shop inside 3 stations (3,4, and 5) to rip off coppers. Then again I wouldn't buy from someone that didn't have a storefront or shit I could view online. Glad to see that station security is at it's best. The DSS of those districts should be sparred for inattention to duty. Especially 3 seeing they have a history of letting unauthorized persons into their station....at least this fool wasn't allowed to suit up and ride with some 003rd district dogass all night
Please tell us this isn't true. And if it is,  we'd have to agree that everyone from the DSS upward needs to be suspended for a while.

Really you are always preaching how the police never stick together and yet here you are referring to the whole 3rd District as dog ass. Yet you say don't write any tickets, don't write any contact cards and don't make any arrests. So what actually constitutes a dog ass district now. Just answering calls.

Anyone who willingly hands over their vest without checking the credentials of some mutt posing as a vendor deserves to get duped. And the (acting) DSS or whatever the fuck they're called this week should get dinged for this dude making his way into a "secure" facility and pulling this off.

Shit, I do a double take on every new janitor or shoeshine dude that I see floating the building.

blame the lazy desk workers, obtain a log number and recommend disciplinary action. put the desk workers back on the street so the station desk can be a safe place, again.

Unfortunately it is all too true. He was is 005 about two weeks ago. He approached me as I was leaving the station. He was well dressed and handed me a business card (which I promptly threw away, who knew). He asked where I had gotten my molle vest (not exactly an authorized version). I talked to him for a minute and then left not giving it a second thought. He had a table set up with examples and a small display board. Figured he knew someone in 005 because they always have some sort of vendor or other camped out in the foyer. Hell the shoe shine guy has the code to the damn back door. Gotta love station security. Oh, congrats to 001 on picking up Lt. MC from 005, you're gonna love this guy...sarcasm.

#1 I'll give it to you cheap...
#2 These are normally $100, but if you pay cash, only $50....

Here is the problem and it is the Command Staff not the DSS. The Commanders allow this, notices are put in the CO book that Costco, Sams Club and Insurance companies and others(maybe vest sellers) are coming to sell their goods on certain days with the approval of the commander. They set up booths in secured areas, come to roll call and hang out in the hall ways in attempt to sell their items. In 005 the shoe shine guy knows the code to the back door, 006 and 003 the guy delivering food to the lock up knows the code to back door and the lock up door. The cleaning crews leave doors propped open to get in and out easy in 008 so they don't have to get a key card. Then someday something will go wrong and there will be a disaster in a station then it will all stop and the command staff will place blame on everyone but themselves. We see it in Malls all the time now.

But, yet some laugh at me when I call when I see miscellaneous people in the garage and going thru our trash by the squad cars. Everyone goes for the cheap prices and with it comes a price. This guy is laughing his behind off. Gotta love us! Better go to court to get your money's worth because the vest is probably NOT coming back or the money. Hilarious.

First of all, the one that lost his m4 and vest should not be guarding a damm thing. It wasn't just any weapon, an m4 that can penetrate our vest, that is no laughing matter at all and nor should be rewarded, except just sent back to patrol for stupid. You are responsible for your weapons at all time. I been trying to get trained on the m4 but, because I'm just patrol, I can't never get it. Yet, the desk person in my district got the training, go figure. Third year requesting the training and that swat guy just goes and looses his m4. Must be nice to be trained.

Does anyone know that Boston Police Patrolmen got a 25.4% raise over 6 years in their contract last month? A unanimous vote by their city council supported it after it went to arbitration. The city's original offer was 12%, but the Police landed up with double that. The Mayor said “But the police officers in this city work hard. . . . The City Council today by a vote of 12 to 0 approved the fact that they deserve the arbitration award.” I am sure Chicago will not be so lucky to get a golden deal like this, and have a Mayor make a statement like that. Now get back to work to make parking ticket revenue for Rahm and thank Shields losing your thousands of $ of Retro.

Hey, retired doe awhile and in my last 10 years found that I could sell the new police with less then 15 yoj the Hancock building.
We are in trouble when a con man gets the police. LOL.
Scamming the police never happened in the old days. Copper' where at their best at work and would never fall for any con. You young bucks got to get educated. Try interacting with the public more when you are not texting on your I Phone to your g/f working a different beat car! LOL

Easy to get conned when you think you are smarter than everyone.

If he used a Chicago Police Department facility to defraud you, then the City of Chicago is liable for negligence.

All of the victims can file claims in small claims court individually or can pool their claims and seek damages in the Law Division.

Discovery will allow a deposition of all persons in charge of those districts to determine who knew this person or who let him operate.

Remember, just filing the suit would be a victory.

It wasn't just Shields who got us to miss that retro check deadline, it was the entire FOP. Any one of them could of sent the letter, but no one did. So, please stop blaming only one person, it gets old.

Clearly, you don't even know how to spell Stony Island.

As for the person bashing 022! We have made numerous trips to where his LKA is! Yes there are dogs here but there are also cops that want to protect the homeland. So don't bash them so fast

I am sure that no "experienced" police officer has every been duped when buying a car or a house. That is why no "wise" police officer has every experienced a foreclosure or a bankruptcy. And no police officer has bought a condo that is worth $70,000 for $230,000. Yea the police officers from the old days are extremely sophisticated, refined, cultured, and highly educated. (For the old timers, the last sentence was sarcasm. Yes, you are that retarded.)

Our "station security" is the gopher for the desk, food and coffee runs, than 2-3 hour nap in the car and a movie. Than goes down on lunch. Best spot in the city.
