Info for Retirees

We hadn't heard of this, but it popped up so often in the comments, we figured a bunch of other people hadn't either:
  • My 1099 and others who had retired went to the unit of our last assignment. The office staff is so busy that they did not have time to call any of the retired people or to have the forms forwarded to them. I would not even have known about it if some of the people that I used to work with had not called me to let me know that they had seen a form with my name on it in the pile with the rest of the forms.
Hopefully, you had a front office who looked out for guys and gals who retired early last year and may have fallen off the radars. Especially those who may have left town for warmer climes, or just places away from here.

Mine went to my Unit also. Retired in Sep '13. Thanks to one my old partner and one of the guys on my watch, I got mine. Thanks RM and JB A/1. Don't know what would have happened if I was out of state. The City's fuck ups continue even after you leave.

They can't afford a stamp and mail to the address that's already printed on the form?

Or give them to the Pension Board and let them distribute them? The PB has to send a 1099 type form to the pensioneers anyways.

Either way, incompetence rules.

Actually, the 1099-R's from the pension board were mailed to your home address. If you were supposed to get a W-2 from the City for monies that the City owes you for banked comp. time then that W-2 went to your last unit before retiring. Just as others have said, had it not been for the active guys at the station looking out for us, we retirees would never have known. I have been retired since 2011 and last year my W-2 came in the mail. This City is totally screwed up. A big thanks to AB in 016 for taking the initiative to call the retirees when the W-2's were spotted.

Sounds like perhaps the Pension Board does not your address, since the forms come from them, or more accurately from Northern Trust Bank.

The members of the so-called FOP 7 Pension Watchdog Team finally showed their true colors when they aligned themselves with the Dean Angelo ticket by providing Angelo with a glowing endorsement. This may not seem like a bid deal to some, but you had better take a long, hard look at the Watchdog ticket before you vote. This pairing might just be even worse for our union than the last three years. It includes Dan Shields, brother of the apparently deranged and ousted president, Mike Shields. That, in and of itself, should be the reddest of red flags, but if you're still not convinced, it also includes Denis Doherty, Al Jaglowski, Rick King, John Lipka, and Mike Underwood. Doherty, Lipka, and Underwood were Shields' hand-picked jury that actually found Shields Not Guilty of lying to the membership and board of directors when Shields failed to send the contract negotiations letter. The remainder supported Shields in every misstep he took.

The Watchdog Team is now going full throttle sending out hate emails about how the Citywide Team hates retirees attempting to sway the retirees from voting for Citywide. Apparently, they are fronting for Dean Angelo by spewing political rhetoric while Dean sits idly by and appears to be upfront and forthcoming.

Like SCC (one of my favorites) I have not made an endorsement of any one candidate or any one team, but I can say without reservation that the Dean Angelo Team is the worst possible choice that any of you could make.

If you are unable to read between the lines, it is this simple: Angelo + Watchdogs = The Shields Team all over again. None of us can afford to let history repeat itself.

I retied June 2012, and had to hunt down my 1099 for Comp time payout. It was at my old District 010th with all the others1099, you would thing someone would have brought it to my house on the way from work, when I called the Desk Sgt was going to sent it back downtown (35th St) and have them mail it to me. I was able to get someone to drop it off. I'll know where to look next year.

It's funny how when you 1st got on the job and would groan because you were put on a car with an "old timer" who you considered the biggest do nothing in the world. And then 25 years later you realize that he gave you the most sage advice and best training you could ever have received. Even from the biggest dog ass on the job, if they have 25/30 years on, they are a wealth of information on a streetwise level.

I had tears but knew i couldn't go with him on the call..I/F

Might as well just stay on the job, and die choking and gasping from a Massive Grabber. Thanks to the City of Shitcago, the CPD, and the F(L)OP, there is no peace of mind from retirement as there should be, having to be constantly worried about how they are planning to fuck you and your fellow retirees every day, after giving the city years of dedicated service and risking your life selflessly for others. City of Shitcago, Mayor, CPD, Supt; FLOP, and ALL Illinois Politicians, you should ALL be ashamed of yourselves, and honestly hope you all rot in Hell. Fuckin corrupt, thieving, manipulating, worthless, cowardly Bastards.

Nice theory, but Federal law says otherwise. It's not my responsibility to chase those tax forms; it's the City's responsibility to provide it to me (not to some district lieutenant, but to ME) by 31 January each year.

No it is not the responsibility of a person who is no longer employed by the city of Chicago to pick up their forms. Many retirees live out of state. They have furnished their new addresses to the pension Board, and perhaps even furnished it to the city like I did. BTW finance said they didn't need the address they would coordinate with the pension board. I just happened to be in Chicago this week and read this post. That led me to call my old district and locate my forms. I retired in 2012. What surprises me is that no boss noticed that the retiree forms were in the bunch and made an attempt to reach out and get them delivered. I know when I was there it would have been done including mailing them out to people who could not pick them up. Glad I am retired when the current bosses can't even do that for people. But sorry for the people who have to stick around with such a bunch of clueless clowns in charge.

Fellow retirees- don't waste time responding to people who either don't have the time to retire or are too scared to leave the job cause they have no life outside of CPD. Just sit back, read the "silly" comments and go back to watching the snow melt. Thanks for the 5 minutes of comedy.

Okay, is it true that one of the City Wide Ticket guys filed charges on the Trooper who is running against Ted “no integrity” Street at the State Lodge? I heard it was Graham or Bourett… If one of you guys did file charges against the Trooper I hope it cost you your election. The City Wide bunch, Bill Dougherty - Mark Donahue- and Kevin Graham, along with worthless Street have been like a cancer to Lodge 7 and now they are spreading that cancer to the State Lodge. EMBARASSING…

Didn't Bourett get appointed to the Chair of Trustee position in the State Lodge by Street?

I hear the Trooper running against Street is a great guy… hopefully the FOP that should be Lodge 7 will get back on track once the city wide team is gone… then maybe we can all work together to get rid of Street at the State level …
