Mel Makes Porn

  • Less than a year after disgraced former Rep. Mel Reynolds ran a failed bid for Congress under the slogan of “redemption,” the convicted sex offender is again facing allegations of sexual misconduct, this time in Zimbabwe, according to immigration officials and state media reports.

The state-owned newspaper The Herald reported that Reynolds was found with pornography when he was arrested in the southern African country on Monday. Possession of pornography is illegal in Zimbabwe.

There was no official confirmation of the pornography allegations. Francis Mabika, an assistant regional immigration officer, said Reynolds had been picked up for living in Zimbabwe without a valid visa.
The Tribune appears to have purged the following from its article, but a quick internet search reveals the rest of the story:
  • The Herald said Reynolds was accused of making pornographic videos and photographs of models and other women he brought to his room. At least one staff member from the paper arrived at the scene as he was being led away.
"Yeah baby, I'm a photographer. You may have seen my work in magazines? Playboy, stuff like that? Why yes, I do have a camera and my hotel is right around the corner. I'll make you a star!"

Good job Mel. You might as well stay there after your sentence.

Mel had a famous line when he was prosecuted for his initial underage sexual encounters by then States Attorney, Jack O'Malley.
When informed that it was set up for him to have sex with a minor he stated, "It's like winning the lottery!"
That ranks as a close tie for #2 with former DC Mayor Marion Barry.
Barry, caught on FBI video doing lines of cocaine with a prostitute in a hotel room, and when law enforcement broke in from the adjacent room he exclaimed, "Da bitch set me up!"

Now, "That's fuckin' golden!"

But, in 'Merica, we just let illegal immigrants flood over the Border and then grant them Amnesty? You mean, you don't do that here in Zimbabwe?

Wow...

What is appalling is how closely his pathetic career resembles that of the current President. Both were sold to the public as "scholars" and "intellectual geniuses." Later, those labels appeared to be false advertising when their dubious credentials were scrutinized. Both men fabricated and inflated large portions of their back stories.

Both were also sold as reformers who would replace unpopular incumbents (in Reynolds' case it was former Congressman Gus Savage, in Obama's case, his campaign opted to run against George W. Bush who was leaving office rather than McCain). Both men labored to obtain cross over votes during their historic elections. Both gave voters serious cases of buyer's remorse too.

Mel Reynolds, the Al Goldstein of Zimbawe.

Here is a strange coincidence. Mel Reynolds was arrested in Zimbawe. Zimbawe formerly was known as Rhodesia, a southern African territory. Rhodesia was named after Cecil Rhodes in 1895.

South Africa's Rhodes University is also named after Rhodes. He set up the provisions of the Rhodes Scholarship, which is funded by his estate. The Rhodes Scholarship, named after Cecil John Rhodes, is an international postgraduate award for selected foreign students to study at the University of Oxford.

Mel Reynolds was a Rhodes Scholar. Now he is arrested in the former Rhodesia for porno, immigration violations and generally being a jerkoff.

Naturally Reynolds denies the charges and now demands to see a doctor since he fell ill upon contact with handcuffs and at the sight of a jail cell.

Bill Clinton was also a Rhodes scholar and also had his sexual peccadillos, although Clinton was never arrested in Rhodesia or Zimbawe.

Some other Rhodes Scholars:

Michael Kinsley (journalist)
Russ Feingold (US Senator)
George Stephanopoulos (who knows)
Susan Rice (NSA Advisor)
Brad Carson (former congressman from Oklahoma)
Cory Booker (US Senator from New Jersey)
Bobby Jindal (Governor of Louisiana)
Eric Garcetti (L.A. Mayor, son of Gil Garcetti of OJ fame)
Rachel Maddow (MSNBC pain in the ass)
---

All in all, I am not unhappy with my GED.

Unless Jesse Sr. pays off the hotel bills and the country deports Mel as PNG, here's what Mel has to look forward to...

"Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison is on the outskirts of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe.

"The men confined here are held in overcrowded cells, measuring 9m by 4m. Typically speaking there are 25 men per cell. Each day the men are confined to their squalid cells between the hours of 3:30pm and 7:00am. Four to five times a week they are also locked up for the guards lunch break, between the hours of 11:30am and 1:00pm. There are no beds and so the men have to sleep on mats spread out over the crowded cell floor. Some inmates refuse to wash, which results in blankets becoming lice infested. There is a predominance of HIV positive, practising homosexuals within this rat and lice infested prison. The cells are shared with people in the terminal stages of AIDS, Tuberculosis, Herpes and other highly infectious diseases, as well as some prisoners who are mentally ill. Many of the infected prisoners are unable to control their bodily functions, and this results in the cell floor and blankets being contaminated with body fluids; pus, phlegm, blood, urine, faeces..."

Just his kind of place...

There are 45 other prisons in Zimbabwe...

Zimbabwe prison amnesty forced by starvation

2/18/2014

"THE presidential pardon which will see the release of more than 2000 prisoners was forced by the increasingly dire situation in the country’s 46 prisons and the risk of starvation as the government struggles with serious financial problems.

"NewZimbabwe.com has established President Robert Mugabe was forced to act after prison officials wrote to him, warning of possible disaster.

"Information at hand shows that the Commissioner of Prisons and Correctional Services urged Mugabe to consider an official pardon as the department was failing to cope with overcrowding and hunger.

"At the end of last year a senior official from the Zimbabwe Prisons Services told a Parliamentary Portfolio Committee that over 100 inmates had died due to hunger in the country’s overcrowded jails.

“Prisoners are dying because of hunger and some HIV related diseases. The problem of hunger is compounded by the fact that we can only afford prisoners one meal instead of three meals per day,” said Zimbabwe Prisons and Corrections Services Deputy Commissioner Agrey Machingauta..."

If you would grasp what happened in Africa, read Robert Ruark's novels, Uhuru and Something Of Value. He covered Kenya in the 1950s, which fell first.

Also highly recommended -- The Old Man And The Boy, about his upbringing along the Carolina shore (you won't be able to put it down!) and Use Enough Gun, about Ruark's hunting exploits in Africa.
