Guess Who Turned Up?
- Four days after a federal arrest warrant was issued for Chicago's former city comptroller Amer Ahmad, the one-time city hall wunderkind has been taken into custody in Pakistan according to multiple federal law enforcement sources.
Ahmad was being sought by U.S. Marshals in Illinois and Ohio after authorities in Columbus determined he had skipped bond. He pleaded guilty in a corruption case there last December. The case was from 2009 and 2010 when Ahmad was deputy treasurer for the state of Ohio and involved kickbacks for state contracts totaling $3.2 million.
Where in Pakistan Ahmad was detained and how the arrest came to be was unclear on Tuesday evening. Federal law enforcement officials in Columbus, Ohio are said to be in the very early stages of extradition although U.S. Justice Dept. personnel there would not provide any details.
Since he's over there and outside of certain "safe guards," wouldn't this be an opportune time to waterboard him and find out how much he knows about the inner dealings of Rahm's administration and how much Rahm might know about things?

With AG Holder in charge I am very doubtful anything will come of this. Amer certainly could bring lots of corrupt worthless politicians down but we know how Chicago and the Feds work. Richie Daley is still walking the streets of a Chicago laughing his ass off at us.
Maybe he and Obama can share a flight and have a conversation about crony capitalism.

When Democrat Kevin Boyce took over, he promoted Ahmad to deputy treasurer. Once Boyce lost election to Republican Josh Mandel in November 2010, Ahmad moved to be comptroller of the city of Chicago for Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, president Barack Obama’s former chief of staff.

International News, Ahmad landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport from Mexico on Monday morning and was being held by immigration officials on charges of holding a fake Pakistani visa and passport. Initially he recorded his statement to the authorities: “I love Pakistan and came back to settle down here for good." Suspicious of his statement, FIA authorities decoded his laptop which revealed his conversation with his wife Samar Kaukab Ahmed that he was a US national and had fled from the State after committing fraud worth millions of dollars at "Ohio", "Chicago". This would seem to conflict with the 827 Thousand dollar taxpayer funded report from Rham's handpicked attorneys that Ahmad did nothing wrong in "Chicago."

Emanuel got in trouble for unlawfully accessing the private information of Chicago public employees in an effort to get their support for his mayoral candidacy. Union leaders were up in arms and city employees accused him of invading their privacy. Then, the co-chair of Emanuel’s mayoral campaign, a high-level state employee, quit abruptly for illegally using public resources to conduct political business.For his many transgressions, Emanuel has also appeared on Judicial Watch’s annual most corrupt politicians list. In 2010 Emanuel teamed up with his then Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina to interfere with Senate elections in two states by offering federal appointments to persuade candidates not favored by Obama to abandon their campaigns. A Judicial Watch complaint to the U.S. Office of Special Counsel on June 15, 2010, tells the story: “As widely reported in the media, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Deputy Chief of Staff Jim Messina, on behalf of the Obama Administration, have both used their position and influence as highly placed federal employees to affect the outcome of federal elections in direct violation of the Hatch Act, which states that an employee may not ‘use his official authority or influence for the purpose of interfering with or affecting the result of an election.’”
And then, of course, there’s Emanuel’s participation in the Blagojevich scandal.
According to sworn testimony during the “Blago” trial, Emanuel served as Obama’s chief negotiator with the Blagojevich team as the former Illinois Governor attempted to illegally sell Obama’s former Senate seat to the highest bidder. Unfortunately, the federal prosecutor cut short the case against Blagojevich and Emanuel and other Obama insiders were never called to testify.
Emanuel left the White House under an ethical cloud and has decided to throw his hat in the ring for Mayor of Chicago, where he again stands accused of ignoring the rules and violating the law regarding candidate residency requirements. Now he has the Ahmer Ahmad scandal where the man he cleared through hand-picked attorneys at a huge cost to the struggling taxpayers of Chicago apparently admits to fraudulently taking millions in Ohio and Chicago.

An insider hiring deal from the get go, but how much validity would his (Amer) testimony have in court with the federal corruption and flight charges on him? Even if he ratted out Rahm and admitted being brought in to be the mayors hatchet man to destroy the city workers pensions and raise taxes any good lawyer would claim he's lying and made a plea deal with the feds. Very clever of City hall to take on a crook from the start whose word is next to worthless down the road. Of course Obama can pardon Amer later because he's not a "violent" offender - just an out and out thief and bail jumper.
