Ironic

  • Leonore Draper was minutes away from entering her West Pullman home after an anti-violence charity event she attended Friday night when she was shot and killed.

Police found Draper, 32, shot in the chest and arm in a parked car near her home in the 11600 block of South Laflin Street in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side at about 10:35 p.m., about 30 minutes after the fundraiser she went to was over. She was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 12:32 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

“The irony behind her getting shot… is beyond me,” said Fallon Barrett, 33, who has been close friends with Draper since high school. “I feel like I’m in this really bad dream that I wanna wake up from.”
You and the entire Pullman neighborhood Mr. Barrett. And Roseland. And Bronzeville. And pretty much the entire South side. And West side for that matter.

The liberals will propose another gun law that will only impact legit citizens who obey the gun laws on the books now. If liberals really wanted to propose laws to stop the shootings/killings they should write laws that put offenders away for a minimum of 20yrs when caught using a firearm in a crime and for life - since we don't impose a death sentence anymore in Illinois - when using a firearm in a homicide without the chance of parole. But that ain't going to happen in Illinois, because it would adversely impact minorities. Well if it is the minorities who are doing the majority of the shootings, then it should impact them. Until then the carnage will continue while liberals propose feel good gun laws that only impact law abiding citizens.

There are only two (2) effective Anti-Violence strategies out there:

1. Lock up the bad guys and keep them locked up, for a long time. This would require the judges and ASAs doing their jobs.

2. Concealed Carry - defend yourself, your home and your family. Every locale that has implemented CCW has enjoyed reduced crime rates

Everything else is just pissing in the wind...jobs programs, midnight basketball, fake revruns marching. All worthless

I am a black female officer on the job for 17 years and it not only breaks my heart it's very disturbing to see the down spiraling of young black men and women. If the government insist on giving my people money make them earn it. They should work from 9 to 5 cleaning up the neighborhoods where our children are literally destroying throwing candy paper on the ground, pop cans, milk bottles ect. I'm just fucking sick and tired of the free hand outs. If they ass miss going to work doc their pay. You will begin to see a difference in their I deserve this free entitlement attitude. The government should be ashamed for doing this to my community and my community should be ashame for allowing them to do it to them. The next group of people who will be soon destroyed by the same free hand outs are the Hispanics who straight gangster the United States and came illegally and between the free hand outs to blacks and all the millions of illegals who now are getting even getting more free shit including education, money, food stamps and the write to drive. Its an awful tragedy along with a human loss with a person who stood up and brought awareness to what is an everyday way of life in some parts of the city. Yes its ironic. Returning home from an anti-violence charity event only to be a victim of violence.

I’m sure the charity event was like a pep rally for political figures with lots of choice food, wine and upscale attire. The praises were heaped upon the efforts and concern of the aldermen, state reps, state senators, U.S. congressmen, pastors and government. In the meantime the killing continues unabated with no meaningful solution in sight.

Too many look to government to solve their problems. The solutions start in the homes of all those disrespectful boys and girls who grow up to be out of control. A discussion by family of what’s right and wrong and instilling some moral values with an occasional swat on the ass is a good start. How about advancing the return of the family, parenting and personal responsibility in these areas most associated with all this senseless mayhem. How about this as a fundemental anti-violence strategy.

Have you ever taken a social science class in college? The social justice classes are the best. The people that write the books you have to read are dedicated left wingers. The laws are written to lock up brown and black people because white people are afraid of them and the long prison sentences are to keep them out of the job market so white people can get a job. Prisons are profitable jobs programs for rural whites. Making it illegal for felons to vote keeps brown and black from voting, so that's a conspiracy against them also. If someone has plenty of money and uses "affluenza" as a defense, of course, it's white privilege if that person gets off.

I could go on some more, but you get the drift and these people actually believe this and unfortunately, many of the students buy into this.

But they have fancy degrees but couldn't catch a crook at 26th and California. That's why our CPD was destroyed by these college wanna be police but scared of their own shadow.

Who should be charged for her murder?

Offender #1 former Mayor Richard "Shortshank" Daley
Offender #2 Former Supt Fat ass Phil Cline.
Offender #3 States Attorney Anita "Lying" Alvarez
Offender #4 Supt. Gary "McDrunk" McCarthy
Offender #5 Mayor Emanuel "Ballerina" Rahm

This was a conspiracy for blood money. Millions stolen by Daley and Rahm. In competent leadership who destroyed CPD by Cline and McCarthy. Alvarez making deals with the devil and letting the savages back on the streets.

Not enough police officers, closing police districts, squad cars looking like they belong in a third world country. Outdated and not enough ambulances. But Daley and Rahm getting richer.

Like in my college years, many black people I met are a credit to humanity. Notwithstanding, a disproportionate amount of blacks are the most dangerous scum of the earth.

I'll never forget my 011 partner on my very first job on my very first night on the street on a seemingly "routine" disturbance in the tavern call at 358 1/2 S. Pulaski Rd. God bless the late A'Roterick "Ronnie" McLaughlin. My blue brother shot an armed cop killer wannabe and saved our lives.

So many white officers never met a black man without an IR number. They don't know there are decent people trying to lead a decent life like everybody else. I spoke with lots of young officers who never were around black kids growing up. They come on this job and get sent to 007 and feel like they just parachuted into Mars. So many people tend to paint with a very wide brush. Not meaning to be a bleeding heart but there are lots of good decent people of color in this city. I met a nurse at Cook County Hospital who was just an angel on earth, she was a kind person, helping save lives no matter the color. What a sweeetheart, she put a smile on my face whenever I saw her.

What he means is when innocents are shot now a days,.you HAVE to find some way to place the blame on the victim and not the shooter, even fuck up (lie?) About the facts, but raise all hell at the same time when someone blames the gun and not the shooter. Take for instance when a kid is shot. Yeah, maybe a 8 year old probably shouldn't be out at 9:30 pm, but WHAT THE FUCK does that matter as soon as that kid was shot? That fucking shooter shouldn't have the gun. He/she shouldn't be out. That child should be able to enjoy his/her childhood with out worrying about getting fucking shot.

The handouts exist to keep the democrats in office and to keep their voting base ever present. But the great truth is that nothing in the black community will change unless they take responsibility for themselves and their community. Time to own up to the truth that there is a serious issue with criminal behavior in the black community. Nothing will change unless they want it to. And they won't want to as long as the democrats keep giving them money for keeping them in office.

get it. The subculture has no part or place in my life anymore than it occurs to you to make it a part of
yours. Do you spend time with the criminal element that exists in your race? Why do you assume I do? And why do you feel my life is at all dominated by those whose values aren't consistent with my own? Do you take any responsibility for the criminals and drug addicts that exist within your race? Once again generalizations that you feel are applicable are useless. I am a civilian who grew up on the South Side and lived there for 20+ years.

My dad and grandfather were cops in Chicago. Dad 1968-2012, grandfather 1931-1965.

I remember some quotes my dad often said. At times like this, hopefully it will help you all to read them.

"If you're the police, be the police"

"Don't burn your bridges. You never know the future"

"Blue is the only color that matters"

"You can never tell from looking at somebody, who or what they are"

and finally:

"Be careful out there!"

I'm white, and I say, all scumbags should be treated like dirt, and given the harshest possible penalties. I want scumbags to rot in jail permanently, white or black. I don't care if they kill or rape a white person, or a black person, or a brown person, I want no mercy for the criminal. This is the same view that I believe every white person I know would have. In all honesty and forthrightness, I can't say that I get the same impression from the black community regarding black scumbags. My expectation is that, while a small portion may feel the same way, that a much larger portion of the "black community" would feel that black offenders should receive leniency, because there are SO MANY black offenders, and that MUST be a result of racism. Since when do we have "white justice" and "black justice"? If a person commits a crime, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THEIR SKIN COLOR MAKE? Just so happens that a lot more crime is perpetrated by blacks, so what? It seems that we're heading towards some kind of a reverse-quota mentality though, in which the sheer numbers of black criminals are going to be treated more leniently on the whole, because they are so overrepresented. What I'd like to hear from the "black community" is more reasonable talk about color-blind justice, "if the shoe fits" and all that, not "how can we be more lenient on blacks that are criminals?" Screw criminals! They are representative of NO community, aside from the criminal community.

So under the law, if I get wasted drunk and drive home and don't have an accident, is that ok? Personally, I believe that it IS ok, law should be based on outcomes, not risky behavior. Same with cell phones. But this isn't the way things are going. If you're driving drunk, that's a crime. If you're texting while driving, that's a crime. And if an 8 year old is out after curfew, THAT'S a crime. The parents should be punished, and it should be severe. And if your kid is out after curfew and gets shot, sure, the shooting is a crime, but it happened BECAUSE the kid was out late, at a time when they're more likely to be a victim of (or a participant in) crime. If your kid is dead, yes, that's horrible. If they were out after curfew, there HAVE to be questions, if we're going to question every other form of risky behavior.

Got that right. Pullman is east of Cottage Grove, folks.

The readers and writers for this blog and the newspapers and TV outlets have never understood exactly where Pullman exists geographically.
116th & Laflin is about 3 miles from Pullman as the crow flies and farther if driven. Hell, it's not even close to West Pullman. It's not even a mile from the 22nd District station in West Morgan Park.
If you see it on the internet it's real. ...

"The U.S. Attorney General himself has said that to many people of color are in jail. There is inequality in sentencing. Putting more people of color in jail or prison is not the answer. Maybe the politicians should listen to and heed their grievances, and do more to help the needy poor."

I hope like hell this is sarcasm. If one commits the crime, one BELONGS IN JAIL, dumbass. Take this as exhibit A: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-man-gets-20-years-for-beating-boy-4-after-losing-video-gam-20140425,0,7432762.story

Here. I won't even make you go to the link: "As Clay was badly losing in the game he became enraged and pulled the sleeping boy out of his bed and slammed the boy to the ground, prosecutors said.

After that Clay put on the young boy's boxing gloves and began punching the child in the head and abdomen, prosecutors said."

What sort of subhuman BEAST does this? And it's a dime a dozen in this city every day. Multiply that across this tanking country. Yeah, you bet your ass there's a whole bunch of people of color in jail. There aren't enough jails to hold them all! Hence some criminals - dangerous ones at that - regularly go free, out to rape, rob, and deal over and over again. (Lakeview rapist, anyone?)

Here's another example of a "needy person of color": http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-chicago-crime-mother-murder-20140426,0,6078751.story

Again, what the fuck kind of ANIMAL does this? How many people are out there waiting to adopt a baby, and this POS stuffs hers in a plastic bag alive, throws it outside, and GOES BACK TO BED.

There is a HUGE contingency of people of color who have no morals, no desire for education, certainly no impulse control, no regard for any other living thing. Their main goals in life appear to be as much immediate gratification of whatever sort as possible.

"Do more to help the needy poor"? What more is there to do? They're catered to, PANDERED to, literally from cradle to grave in this country. No matter how much they're given, they want more, more, more for free, free, free. God forbid someone suggest they trade some work for all those benefits. Nope, that's racist.

I have NO SYMPATHY for these subsets of humanoid-type things. NONE.

I watched channel 11, Chicago Tonight, last Friday when they discuss the weeks events. The topic of the comment made by the mayor came up in which he blamed the crime on lack of family values. The two black reporters on the panel, one from the sun times and one from TV news, both denied that this comment was accurate and instead blamed all of the violent crime in the black areas on the lack of employment. They were not challenged. Here we go again, the black crime blamed on something that is beyond the ability of the black population to control. No matter how this flies in the face of experience, academic research and other facts. Yes, it must be the fault of the society, no individual blame here. What BS with no one having the courage to bring out the truth lest they be called a racist and no on in authority in the black community willing to speak out on the matter using facts. At this rate it will never improve.

CCC, The civilian conservation core, was established during the great depression in order to keep the multitudes of unemployed busy. I say, lets do this again and I think it can work. Put the unemployed and uneducated in work camps, living, studying and praying together and working on government projects to repair and clean up highways, forests and parks. However, the unions would probably complain as they get the work and the unions pay off the politicians and the circle is formed. And, CCC would probably be called racist today when in the depression era the program was mostly white.

Yes, you are so correct. I actually had a white lawyer who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth tell me that the crime in the black community is caused by the police because the police, " over police" the area and arrest too many people. Now digest that comment for day or so and you will realize that this is not going to be solved for some time.

Point taken. But, how can you compare a child out after curfew to drunk driving? My point being something as innocent as a child out playing on a summer night getting shot to a crime that is easily controllable by the drunk driver with self-discipline is not fully comparable. Being out a hour later should not mean a death sentence like running up against a drunk driver might be. Another point I was trying to make was that when a child is shot after curfew, more emphasis is put on figuring out why the parent didn't have the child inside than on finding the shooter, or why the shooter was shooting in the first place. Curfew can not stop child murders. Sure, you could fine the parent, but that does nothing to bring the shooter to justice. All it does is punish a truly innocent mistake while giving shooters in cities (Chicago in particular, where it is statistically the most violent place for a child to live in the country) a sense of feeling that good citizens shouldn't enjoy life because "they know we warrin on this block".

I think it's great that you take responsibility for the miscreants in your race, but I too would like to ask why is it your responsibility? Why is it blacks responsibility? Why are blacks the only race shamed and singled out as a whole for the bad people in their race? I can understand taking responsibility on a economic level, but on a behavorial level, that is a ubelieveably impossible feat to ask someone to take resposibility for. This "sub culture" everyone mentions is only praised by the people who par-take in it and can only be crushed if the people who par-take in it decide to do better. They are well aware of the many blacks who've decided that is not the life they want and decide to do better. If that doesn't encourage the bad apples then there is almost nothing else that can be done.

Has anybody ever read the book... BEHOLD A PALE HORSE? William Cooper - former US navy intelligence officer.
He explained in great detail the government's long term plan to eliminate "undesireables" (blacks, hispanics, gays) by creating welfare and socialist programs creating a class of criminal element that will eventually destroy themselves slowly but surely. It's a good read. Gets very in depth about what we are seeing now and where it is going.

When I am working and encounter a situation where I feel I can offer something I do. I'm not opposed to doing that, if I feel have something of value to say. Though i dont agree with their behavior nor participate in it, we are the only race that is expected to take responsibility for and correct the behavior of others.

I think that government involvement is a huge problem because a lot of money is involved with little to no oversight. Often there doesn't seem to be concrete goals. If there is no standard or clear goal, how is success measured. Sometimes "programs" are thrown together with no intention of getting resources to a particular group of people. For instance, there is an investigation underway of an anti-violence program created by Quinn that it seems achieved absolutely nothing yet involved millions of dollars. It appears to have merely served as a slush fund for his friends such as Benton Cook III, husband of Dorothy Brown , who was paid about $146,000 as coordinator of the program, yet there is no evidence of work, any record of success or that resources reached anyone who was in need. This money appears to have been a pay-off for getting the vote out for Quinn in his last election. There are very few positive results so I can certainly see your point.
