Everyone is getting a 50% hike in pay! We're all going to be making $120,000 a year.
Bad news.
Rahm is starting a city income tax of around 50% so as to maintain the "social programs" his voters so badly desire. So we'll all be working more, receiving less, but we still get to feel good about paying all the bills for those on the lower socioeconomic rungs of the ladder.
- The city is finished. More and more decent tax paying folks are leaving this cesspool every day. Who is going to pay the bills when all the tax payers are all gone.

The so-called temporary 66% state income tax INCREASE is about to be made permanent.
The increased Illinois registration fee to buy state troopers new squads has fell short as they now have the cars but the cars can't be used cuz there's no money to put in the lights, sirens and electronics, radios etc.
So guess what?
It's time to just stick it to the middle class again and raise the registration fees again on new cars.
The stripper poll tax designed to help rape consoling centers has fallen short. google IT.
The traffic camera revenue has fallen short.
The job creation plans have fallen short.
It's a fricken free for all with no-one accountable for anything

Detroit was a thriving city until the mid 1970's. Now it is a wasteland. Chicago will go the same way. This town has gone too far into the gutter to come back.

Gas prices are already the highest in the nation.

When they want your land just make up some new city ordinances and send in the building inspectors. They'll get it. Just like the process of legalizing the pension thefts.

However let us not forget that we are paying the bills for those in the corporate penthouses funding their tax breaks, subsidizing their workers with food stamps and obamacare so the corporation can make a higher profit and then not be taxed on that profit as the tax breaks and the movement of jobs and money go to some off shore tax haven.
So let us not just demonized the handouts to the economically disadvantage.
I mean really. Look at who is getting rewarded today. Not the workers but the laxy sit on their ass and do-nothings....and I'm talking about the Wall Street stock market investors. They are the ones getting bailed out.
Check yourself and open your eyes instead of listening to the OLD Tribal mantra of deflecting blame, dividing and concurring while the elites take off with the money.
Whatever happened to welfare turning into Workfare?
How come all these people can't come in 20 hours a week and do something for the city?
It could be a very interesting program and people could learn some skills - while getting paid their welfare benefits.
PLUS=-- it could add labor without increasing labor costs in a city that is definitely cash-strapped.
Give the mundane work out to those on welfare making the regular workers focus on higher-level work. This would increase morale significantly.
Able-bodied men? Bring them into the motorpool and teach them how to do basic mechanical work - change tires, change batteries, change oil. This could be a first phase to get them skills to go work at a local garage or Jiffy Lube.
Same goes for women. There are so many areas of flowers, let them start doing some of the manual labor to take care of these things.
Or wash buses and other vehicles. Do something for all those benefits we just hand out to them.
No work, no check. Simple as that.
If this is "beyond" what we can expect, then cut welfare out.
Enough is enough.

The CHA budget is $811 million. Cut that by half and it would help with the pension.

The "Occupy Movement" fizzled long ago. Keep up. Take a bath and grow up. This class warfare, divide and conquer strategy is a waste of energy and harmful to the Nation, as is any strategy to divide.
I don't have, so I envy and hate those that do is a destructive force. Shame on the politicians that employ this strategy.
This Country allows you to make and do anything with your life that you choose. Is it always a level playing field? Not in reality. We are humans. It never will be. So you can sit on the sidelines and suck your thumb or you can get in the game and play. Your choice.
New York has a city income tax, right? I wonder how much that is.

I guess that would make too much sense.
I do not understand why able-bodied people get to lie around the house all day, not even make breakfast or lunch for their kids, or even walk them to school.
Yet we schmucks have to set alarms to be to work on time, spend hours every week commuting, still feed our kids and help them with homework...while the slugs of society who are GIVEN everything continue to raise nothing but more slugs, drains on society, drug dealers and killers.
I work in 11, and one of the saddest things I deal with in addition to all the violence is when the good people who do live there get up and go to work and come home to find their house/apt. broken into and the things they worked so hard for gone. Sad.

Someone has a clue..... finally.
One of two things has to happen, either complete and utter collapse or the rich have to find a way to live without the extra profits the taxpayers give to them, period.
So which you think it's gonna be? NO economy for the rich to suck off of and steer the stock market with or having to live without their cash incentives at the taxpayer expense?
It's simple math.... less money beats no money.
And collapsing this country collapses every other country in time.
The total rearrangement and realignment of the working class can be attempted all they want, at some point revolution begins.
There is no question people are moving out of this state much faster than people are moving in.
Taxes will have to rise further as fewer people are forced to pay for the same level of services- and ballooning interest on the debt.
This only accelerates the outflow.
I think we should be proactive and propose capping our pension at double the maximum social security level. Perhaps in exchange for immediate, segregated funding. At least we will know we will get a base level sufficient to take care of us. It would leave the gold braid types (who are the biggest source of the problem) to feel the biggest hit.

CPS is attended by majority minority children to begin with, so it's not out the ordinary for a CPS school for children with behavioral problems to be filled with minority kids.
Any who, the best medicine for kids who like to play that "I just like/want to fight" or "I get mad easily" game is a simple ass whoopin'. I remember growing up there was a kid in our neighborhood who went to Montefiore and thought he'd try his luck with my little brother at Franklin Park. Well, after I got through with him and then our neighbors kids got a hold of him the next day, he got all the SSRI Benzo cocktail he needed, at least when around my little brother.

Not the Police but have read this blog regularly since it started. My fiance and I were long time Chicago residents in Uptown for over a decade. We got out and moved to South Carolina last weekend. It is amazing how well behaved people are, down here. I will always be amazed at the job the CPD officersi saw out and about in the 19th and 20th Districts, performing a daunting job, against some unreasonable and just plain stupid political obstacles.

Why doesn't everybody get this? You think Rahm is all about helping the poor? That his social welfare programs are the reason Chicago suffers? I suspect most of you guys never learned how to think - it's pretty evident from your illiterate posts. He saved Chicago a bunch of money when he closed half of the mental health centers in Chicago, moving the burden to the County where a lot of the people that utilized those services will be locked up (again and again).
