Girl Fight

  • A 14-year-old girl was killed on her way home from school and a second girl was wounded this afternoon in a shooting in the the Back of the Yards neighborhoods.

[...] The girl, who was shot in the back, was taken to Comer Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to [News Affairs] and the Chicago Fire Department. An official said the girl was 14, but News Affairs was not immediately able to confirm that information.

A second girl, whose age was not immediately confirmed, was shot in the arm and had her condition stabilized at St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center....
And the shooter?
  • Endia was on her way home from school not far from her house on 55th and Morgan when a girl from another school approached her, according to her stepfather, who was with many people were gathered Monday evening at the Comer emergency room.

"They had words and she gunned our daughter down," Kennedy said. "For what? What reason would another girl gun down another child?"
Well, we'll tell you, but you won't like the answer. It has to do with involved parenting, self-control, personal responsibility, conflict resolution skills and a sense of right vs wrong. We're going to take a wild guess here and say at least 4 out of those 5 were missing.

Five bucks says Rahm claims it's the gun's fault, completely disregarding the points we made.

And would someone get Channel 7 a map?
  • One teenage girl is dead, another is wounded after a shooting on Chicago's West Side.

It happened in the 900 block of West Garfield in the Brighton Park community.
That's the first time we've heard 5500 south described as "West Side." Who knew?

The 900 block of W. Garfield is not even near Brighton Park either, which begins at Western (2400 W) as its eastern border, and 51st Street is the southern border. Though they have their own crime issues, I don't think the citizens of Brighton Park will appreciate the news media identifying their community with an incident that occurred on the border between the Englewood and New City communities.

And the Mayor is going to build a gym for DePaul. And pour money into Maggie Daley Park. And build another hundred miles of barely used bike lanes. And borrow another billion dollars for infrastructure , which will be doled out to his political doners . And build another school for the privileged named for his pal . And on and on and on. Instead of hiring more Police and Paramedics, he keeps spending money on nonsense. How do the minority communities put up with this? Every " reverend " should gather their flock and march on City Hall. Was this kid killed on the much ballyhooed Safe Passage Route? This once wonderful city is awash in blood and the politicians need to be held responsible. 30, 40, 50 shot every damn weekend. Absolutely disgraceful.

Another "community activist" character on TV news today, "Hadiya Pendleton's mentor" or something. Says we gotta show love to the bangers, and has gotten himself a grant or something to produce another "four-part documentary" that will open everyone's eyes and turn the 'hood around. He is also "working with "rappers" to 'project positivity.'"

Yeah, right.

Like someone here said, "broken record." Around and around and around, as the zones backlog and the ERs go on bypass and you can't find an ambulance and the new Phase II morgue fills up and the county jail becomes one giant sleep-on-the-floor mental hospital.

Tie the whole city up in knots with this s__t.

The VAST majority of the shootings occur in MINORITY neighborhoods. The neighborhoods all have names and geographic references, Roseland, Englewood, the West side, ect. But minority neighborhoods none the less. Whether the crimes are spoken of by the media, City "officials", or phoney baloney politicians, NEIGHBORHOOD names are used for identification purposes. Crime areas are NEVER spoken of in terms of the actual NEIGHBORS.
Chicago has many OTHER neighborhoods, Mt Greenwood, Edgebrook, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, to name just a few.
It is understood that crime occurs EVERYWHERE, but the chances of acquiring the winning ticket in the flying lead lottery are infantisimally greater in NEIGHBORHOODS where the victims and the criminals have an appearance that is eerily similar.
I guess there are many, many "reasons" why the incident of shooting occurs, the demise of the family unit, lack of education, NBA championships, agregious stereotyping, to name a few.
Seriously, for a moment, and just one man's opinion, the core of the problem is the drug trade fueled by the epidemic of drug addiction. Making matters worse is that drug addiction has imbedded itself across several generations. Drugs have destroyed families across socio-economic lines, but when grandpa used, dad used, and now the offspring use....THAT family ain't makin' it to parent/teacher conference night. SERIOUSLY interrupt the drug trade at a NATIONAL level and there may be a chance to save a NEIGHBORHOOD. (And yes, there are drug addicts in Sauganash too, but it is not the drug "clearing house" that Englewood is.)
Bottom line. Shootings are like elections, as long as the prevailing consensus by constituents is APATHY, the status quo (like corrupt Illinois politicians) will prevail.
If you don't live in a "affected" NEIGHBORHOOD, you don't work law enforcement, or have not had the priviledge of being selected as a innocent victim.......other than a shrug of the shoulders, a tsk-tsk, and a hug of your children......WTF can you do?

Though we and the paramedics are terribly understaffed, all the coppers in the world and ER's not on bypass aren't going to change a broken culture with no moral compass. It took years and even generations to get to this point and only the community can change itself. Question is do they want to? I think not. No, I am not painting all Blacks with the same brush, I know better. but only the Black community can solve this problem. When people both Black and White try to tell the truth and constructively critizise the underclass they are met with hatred, derision, and scorn by the community and its apologists both black and white.

Wow, this occurred just two and a half miles from the president’s principle residence. Remember when 1st lady Michele was paid $317,000.00 a year as an indispensable administrator by the U of C Hospital? Remember, Michele was a staunch supporter of universal national health care especially for the poor. Michele took the lead with top hospital administrators denying the underserved south side minority community a much needed level 1 trauma center.

After receiving hundreds of millions of dollars of federal and state monies, the big money U of C campus with the upscale residents of the Hyde Park organized and conspired to deny the “undesirables” much needed trauma related healthcare services. The U of C has a proven track record of farming out the poor to other local hospitals while providing care to those who have revenue generating health insurance. Its about the bottom line. Michele, the U of C administrators and the residents are hypocrites on display promoting public policy ad nauseum for the poor. But when it comes to actually putting their pointed headed intellectual public policy into implementation, they practice the “not in my backyard” compassion in action for all to see.

If a trauma center was available to serve this low income resident’s community, could this precious life have been saved? Again, the prestige and all the money trumps human life at this world class medical institution. Hypocrisy in action. They are portrayed as the smartest among us. If they don’t want undesirables in their back yard or receiving emergency treatment at this top-ranked medical institution, what do they really know that the rest of us don’t know?

How about we do like the bankers are doing with a twist.

Take out life insurance policies on the gang leaders so we can really monetize the crime and cash in.

I don't know if y'all been following the mysterious increase in the number of banking executives deaths, one to two dozen or so recently?

Yeah exec's found shot in the back of the head, exec's found shot multiple times with a nail gun and then classified as suicides etc...

Well guess what's been uncovered now?

Guest Post: Suspicious Deaths Of Bankers Are Now Classified As "Trade Secrets" By Federal Regulator

It doesn’t get any more Orwellian than this: Wall Street mega banks crash the U.S. financial system in 2008. Hundreds of thousands of financial industry workers lose their jobs. Then, beginning late last year, a rash of suspicious deaths start to occur among current and former bank employees. Next we learn that four of the Wall Street mega banks likely hold over $680 billion face amount of life insurance on their workers, payable to the banks, not the families. We ask their Federal regulator for the details of this life insurance under a Freedom of Information Act request and we’re told the information constitutes “trade secrets.”

+++

Both JPMorgan and Citigroup also own massive amounts of bank-owned life insurance (BOLI), a controversial practice that pays the corporation when a current or former employee dies. (In the case of former employees, the banks conduct regular “death sweeps” of public records using former employees’ Social Security numbers to learn if a former employee has died and then submits a request for payment of the death benefit to the insurance company.)

read the entire piece. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-04-28/guest-post-suspicious-deaths-bankers-are-now-classified-trade-secrets-federal-regula

There's a lot of money to be made monetizing the violence. Maybe it's already being done in Chicago? Ha. Naaaah.

Not in a highly visible way so bold as to take out life insurance policies on the mutts. However maybe we should?? It would create jobs. It could be sold as "for the children"

After all, all these so-called ivy-league NWU grads with the higher math and science scores don't have any real plans.

Y'all hear Garry today?

The answer is to have another law that prevents storing guns in your car.. LMFAO.

Yep, the FOID card law, the conceal carry law did not discourage this violence and so the leaders are therefore helpless because there's no law preventing someone from storing a gun in their car.

Good excuse. OH it's not our fault BULLSHIT.

If only we had that law we are led to believe eh, they want us to believe, that law would intimidate the mutts. that it would be different from the other laws already broken.

GET A F"M GRIP!

BTW How'z that "Broken Windows" academic marketing message mumbo-jumbo going?

Ya know, the professors said that if we clean up all the little crimes like graffiti for example it sends the message that the bigger crimes like killing will not be tolerated.

Take a look here at these pics.

Is it any wonder ?

I am a black female officer and I am very ashamed that I have to agree with the blogger that only the Backs who live in the crime ridden neighborhoods are gonna have to step up and change what's happening. When I'm reading some of the Blogs I only become pissed at my brothers in blue when they are coming from a racist negative space in their heart. I can tell the ones who truly are concern because they want to make a difference being the police and to those officers I want to say thank you for all you do. I know it appears you are not making a difference when you go to a domestic and you see the little black girl who is very scared because her

parents are screaming and swearing at one another and I see the look of love in your eyes as you try and console her because for you at that moment you don't see a little black girl you only see a little girl who is scared. I want to salute you and say thank you. But most importantly thank you for seeing my shame that I sometimes can't hide because of the dysfunctional behavior my Black family is exhibiting at that moment. Lastly. Thanks for having the common sense not to paint all blacks with the same brush. I'm honored to be your partner and the department is very fortunate to have a officer such as yourself...

So McCarthy now thinks it's NORMAL for young people to resort to violence over social disputes? He suggests it's NORMAL for 14 year old girls to fist-fight over a boy?

He says NOTHING about a culture of violence, nothing about a culture of family encouraging and enabling violence, says nothing about a criminal in the family committing a theft (from a car), and he complains about "Illinois laws that allow citizens to leave a gun in their car" from where it can be stolen?

Hollywood couldn't write such idiocy into a script. It wouldn't be remotely believable.

Since when is it NORMAL for girls to violently attack each other? Could it be that if McCarthy mentioned the obvious, he'd be castigated for a particular "-ism?"

Black, white, brown, yellow or green, girls attacking each other is a sign of a dysfunctional culture. It's not race, it's culture...it's decivilization.

Donald Sterling's comments are nothing that should be ignored. Period. His comments give no help in to ideology of America being in a "post racial stage". Anyone who feels the response to Sterling's words were to "hysterical" needs to re-evaluate their mind frame like that idiot Bill Kristol. Endia's murder, while 10x more important compared to Donald Sterling's comments, is still something that should be given way more attention. As well should suburban kids who kill them selves or shoot up schools because of facebook bullying, or being declined a date to the prom and stabbing people. This generation of kids are.. Off.

I have been watching reruns of The Wire from season 1 and it really is amazing how this series parallels Shitcago. In season 3, "Comstat" is heavily featured along with all sorts of killing of crime. Not to mention the asshat running Comstat being spotted in a gay bar. Things that make you go hmmm.

Rather than be so concerned about the rantings of a senile old white man, the black community should be focused on the killing of black youth by other black youth.

Can't Garry just tell them to "Knock it Off"? That always worked for me.

"And every black person is so offended and upset by what the owner of the Clippers said. Where is Michael Jordan, Labron James, Ofra, Jessie and every other black person who spoke out against the owner of the Clippers. Where are they to address THIS issue. Where is the chosen one obama? Again speaking out of his ass before he has any facts. Crickets nothing but crickets."

What is there to say about this issue that hasn't been said each and every time a child is killed? This is a parental issue. Not Oprah's. Not Jesse Jackson's. Not the President's. The roots of these issues, that spill out onto the streets in society, are in their homes. Having prominent people speak out has not been a proven solution in the past, it won't be now.

It's very simplistic to think that "the community" of Black people should be doing something to stop this, Like what? Protesting? That's been done. Outrage? We've been there. Vigils? We've done that. The reality is this is a parental issue that can only be solved in their homes and schools. Parents should be giving their children tools to manage conflict, schools should be addressing those issues because they know better than anyone how minor disagreement blossom into violence. In addition, Facebook postings have been the foundation of so many jobs I have gone to involving girls. Whether its cyber bullying or cyber banging the conflicts over postings, in schools, is ridiculous. Facebook was intended for adults to reconnect with people from their past. Why do children have a need to be on Facebook with kids they see at school everyday or in their own neighborhoods? Only parents and schools have the power to effect that kind of change you speak of. This mythical "community" of which you speak, doesn't exist. Individual households do. Our neighborhoods are made up of households and families just like any other.

Until whites, asians, etc. as a whole are blamed for the crimes of the few in their races like blacks are, these are the types of comments you have to deal with. Blacks have attempted COUNTLESS times (till this very day) to help their own communities, Just because it doesn't work doesn't mean people aren't doing anything.

Darn right...900 West Garfield Blvd. is quite close to University of Cgo., at 57th & Maryland, where the elite meet...say about 2 miserable, filthy, treacherous, dangerous miles in between. And that's right, where the U of C denies emergency trauma care to those in need yet will pass the bodies on to another hospital to deal with while U of C gets the gravy. That was Michelle's
job at $350,000.00 per year..to distract the poor to other areas for care. Ha, Ha,. We all loose no matter how many miles it is.

Yes your community can make a huge difference, stop electing politicians like the crazy chipmunk Toni(too many blacks are in jail)Preckwinkle. Elect politicians that promise to be hard on the criminal, not society at large. Politicians that will reign in the gibs me dat mentality that is too prevalent in the inner city.
