The first three months of the year saw 6 fewer murders than the same time frame in 2013–a 9 percent drop–and 55 fewer murders than 2012, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
Unable to face reality and say that murders are up yet again, McCarthy reaches back into history and says it's the lowest first quarter since 1958. Wow, that's a stretch. And it's 9% lower than last year. He's throwing out these percentages like they mean something. He's talking about 6 murders over three months. Whoopee!

An appellate court has reversed a decision that ruled in favor of the city in a lawsuit filed by the Central Austin Neighborhood Association (CANA) and the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois (ACLU).
The lawsuit – now reinstated – alleges that 911 response times for predominantly African-American and Hispanic neighborhoods are slower than response times in white communities. That’s because Chicago officials have failed to deploy police equitably across the city’s many diverse neighborhoods, the suit alleges.
Last year, a trial court dismissed the complaint by the two groups saying it was a political – rather than judicial – issue.
The ACLU says the unequal deployment of officers in the city violates the Illinois Civil Rights Act of 2003, which makes it unlawful for government to provide services in a manner that has a disparate negative effect on any racial group.

The news reports said he was shot when he pointed a handgun at officers and "a Glock pistol with a laser sight and an extended magazine were recovered at the scene."

It would have been nice to have a video clip at the scene of prying the pistol from his cold dead fingers. But none of the pistols in the photos, including the one with the extended magazine is a Glock. Not that an news reporter would know a Glock from a Webley-Fosbery.455.

Special Employment will be allowed 50 more officers a day and 15 new CTA Tahoes. The cars will be basically bus routes and CTA wants all other officers on foot posts. Now play 1234 in the pick four because I know everything.
