Rahm Welcomes Dissent
- Contrary to recent allegations by several Chicago Public Schools principals that they’re being silenced, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Wednesday that he welcomes ideas and even criticism from principals.
Emanuel said he has even implemented some of their ideas, responding to the latest complaints that his administration tries to control the message. Blaine Elementary School principal Troy LaRaviere accused Emanuel’s administration of silencing principals in an op-ed published in the Chicago Sun-Times on Saturday. Several of the hundreds of CPS principals have signed their names to comments on LaRaviere’s blog, troylaraviere.blogspot.com, and at www.Catalyst-Chicago.org, expressing similar concerns.
“If a principal has a concern or an idea, [schools chief Barbara Byrd-Bennett’s] attitude, my attitude is, ‘We want to hear about it if there are concerns,’ ” Emanuel said at an unrelated announcement in Bronzeville, where he he took reporters’ questions for the first time since Saturday.
We would assume that Rahm's love of "ideas and even criticism" would apply equally to all members of City government. As this blog has suggested and achieved more than a few fixes for things, it can be concluded that we're fulfilling Rahm's wishes on some level.
So instead of trying to "get rid of the blog," why don't you waste time on something else? Like the out of control property crime rate, the rising number of shootings and keeping the homicide rate from topping last year by hiding a few more.

Department of Agriculture buying unknown amount of submachine guns and high-capacity magazines

The United States Department of Agriculture is probably one of the last federal agencies you’d expect to request a substantial amount, if any, of firearms, but that’s precisely what it did last week.
In a solicitation posted on the government’s Federal Business Opportunities website on May 7, the Agriculture Department requested an unknown number of submachine guns. The department also states it wants to get its hands on weapons with night sights in the front and the rear and magazines with a 30-round capacity.
The solicitation, which also calls for the submachine guns to be lightweight and feature slings, says:
“The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Inspector General, located in Washington, DC, pursuant to the authority of FAR Part 13, has a requirement for the commerical [sic] acquisition of submachine guns, .40 Cal. S&W, ambidextrous safety, semi-automatic or 2 shot burts [sic] trigger group, Tritium night sights for front and rear, rails for attachment of flashlight (front under fore grip) and scope (top rear), stock-collapsilbe [sic] or folding, magazine - 30 rd. capacity, sling, light weight, and oversized trigger guard for gloved operation.”
Exactly why the USDA wants or needs to acquire multiple submachine guns is unclear, as the solicitation does not go into much detail regarding the purpose. RT attempted to reach both of the individuals listed as contacts on the USDA solicitation to learn more about the request, but was unable to immediately obtain a response from either.

You have to be the same genius that posts this type of comment every time. Of course the CTU has its own agenda, top priority is to defend the teachers! You have to be up set that your intellect is not being used appropriately (unless youre a detective, then good for your obvious observation) Teachers in turn help defend students. When stupid and inept policies hinder student growth and teacher ability, the CTU defends teachers from bad policy (trying to prevent over testing for starters) which in turn save students from more testing. This angers ed reformers because people then question the testing policymakers and people all over lose money that they use to spoon feed politicians and their campaigns. Again good for you. You solved the case. I thought we had to put 5 more detectives on the case, have them working in shifts.

Whoever came up with it, it's the best so far.
Make the new generation the RETRO cops; go back to some of the old ways...yeah, lots of the old ways. Patch on the shoulder for District. Stick on the noggin for misbehavior. Fear in heart of those who commit the bad acts we seem to tolerate more and more and respect back from the citizens once we are allowed to do our job. Have some pride in yourself as a police officer.
