This is a Stretch
- It is a disturbing scene: an abandoned building where a longtime community activist and crime fighter says teenage girls were held against their will and forced into prostitution.
Oooooh, a crime fighter! Discovering an abandoned building where crime is taking place.
- Andrew Holmes is at many crime scenes but he’s especially passionate about this.
He says teenage girls — runaways — were held captive and forced by pimps to have sex.
How did he discover it? Holmes works for Morrison Investigations, a private detective agency. They got a tip about illegal activity that Holmes says points to human trafficking.
A tip? A clue! We didn't realize that when people see crime, they call a private (read "for profit") detective agency instead of the police. And this guy immediately leaps to the conclusion that Human Trafficking must be occurring!
- The agency did surveillance, and Holmes says last January he spotted a young girl dropped off at the abandoned building near 63rd and Kedzie.
Holmes says by the time he walked through the other girls were gone.
Pro bono surveillance even - this must be a full service detective agency that can afford to do charity work on the side like this. This almost sides like an airtight case - one girl dropped off near an abandoned building, no one else even mentioned, no interviews done, no evidence collected. And everyone conveniently disappears like they never actually existed.
- The building owner, James Zar-Hall, says he had no idea it was happening, though he insists he checked the property at least once a month.
“You can’t be somewhere 24/7,” he tells Williams.
Zar-Hall was working to make the building more secure.
OF course he wants to make it more secure - you can't have accusations of Human Trafficking flying about without doing something to make your building more secure, you know? Thank goodness the police are involved!
- Holmes says the one girl was returned to her mother. No arrests have been made. Chicago police tell us they have no reports of such activity at the building but are reaching out to Holmes for more information.
One girl. That no one knows the name of. Who hasn't told her story to authorities to rescue all these other girls missing and prostituted. In an unidentified building that could be within a few hundred yards of one of the busier intersections in the city. And no one else has noticed a thing.Or reported it to police, who have absolutely no record of anything of the sort.

If Mr. Holmes had any idea and or evidence of human trafficking the he should have gone to the police. Shame on him. I guess crime does pay...at least for him.
Everyone that watches TV knows how those private eyes have superior cognitive skills and can detect the smallest clue. Everyone also knows how wily criminals and white slavers can be. It's a jungle out there. Pray for those girls.
Is Morrison Investigations owned by the Kevin Morrison that was former CPD?
The PI should go to jail for obstruction.and failing to report a crime in progress.
Morrison has beeb trying to break into the Chicago market being unsuccessful and just received a free commercial. Still won't land a contract.
This is all the rage now, you know, with the First Lady jumping in on the hashtag stuff (with such a sad, pouty face). Let's all go to Nigeria with Hollywood.
#Sounds like BS!
Latest trend in the media is to beef up their "investigative teams" and CREATE news rather than actually REPORT it. This way, Rahm and his fellow communists can CONTROL every story and every message that is put out there.
Can you say smoke and mirrors?
Fairy tale.
Do you like my choice of words?
Now, kees me you fool!!!!

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha
CCNM (Chicago's Communist News Media) Strikes Again!
Holmes is a CTA employee also.
Time for RAHM to give this clown a million dollar grant ( tax payer money of course) to continue his great work.
This is the pilot for CSI Fillmore, where the girls will be shipped to Nigeria and held for ransom.
Does the Channel 2 reporter and the "private investigator" know each other?...
Holmes is connected somehow. Maybe be Emmanuels or Mells nephew.
The Hardly Boys said.....
Holmes' clue is giving me a raging clue!!!
Thank God for the Private Investigators who will go where the cops fear to tread and do the work the cops don't want to do, and do it for no pensions and less money.
I'm thinking that Andrew Holmes isn't any relation to Sherlock Holmes.
Holmes has a city car with M-plates. There is a WHOLE lot of shady shit going on there, much like all the "Public Safety/Special Patrol" units.
Why are you knocking this guy? Sounds like his heart is in the right place and if he did call 911 you would most likely gotten a "19-P" from the responding unit! Abandoned building call??? Yeah I'm sure the responding car will exit their car and do a thorough investigation......yeah,ok.
Another PI. Probably in the same category as Cioliono was who handled the Anthony Porter investigation. Look what that fiasco got us. I say ignore him.
Is the Morrison Detective Agency owned and operated by Sean Morrison the political wanna be from Palos Township Illinois? He has made unsuccessful runs for public office and has earned a bad name for campaigns that distort the truth.
Arent all License holders in the City required to report crime?
I would not be so hard on Holmes. It seems that he tries to do the right thing and he is a supporter of the police. Give him credit for that. I did not know he was a PI and worked for Morrison Agency. Morrison is bases in Alsip and is a strong republican supporter and candidate. Holmes still needs to support himself so he works as a PI which also gives him the ability to carry concealed and conduct investigations. Something that you need when walking around the south side. I don't know Holmes, but I respect him for what he is trying to do.A lot more then most others.
Sounds like "Law And Order SVU",
Chicago style (Special Victims Unit)
with emphasis on "Chicago".
Please be careful when dealing with Holmes, he may have been helpful to some but if you dont jump when he calls with some tidbits of info he will start calling in "man with a gun" to get the police there quickly.
Shazam, we've found GMac's replacement.
Hmm
Both federal and state felony violations, and a Illinois State License private investigator did not notify the authorities?
Sounds like a case for loss of license to me.
It looks like the newshounds have been punked:
http://www.prairiestatereport.us/2011/11/18/activist-andrew-holmes-honors-sean-morrison-with-leads-2011-humanitarian-award/
This is the same Sean Morrison who has tried to run for political office (Cook County Board of Review) and been exposed for lying about his education.
Apparently, the private eye and the activist have a history. Morrison is also tied to Cook County Commissioner Elizabeth Doody Gorman (R?) and Aaron Del Mar (R?). RINOs.
Meanwhile Homey the Clown was sighted driving a brown can and trying to lure 12 year olds into his van.
Send him to Nigeria.
I will still stick with Jim Rockford over that Englishman Holmes (and Watson).

My thoughts exactly as I read this story!
I'd love to know how this "detective agency" stays afloat financially. It'd be interesting to see which "charities" besides the U.S. government is giving money to these humps.
I used to give a decent amount to charities through payroll deduction until about 20 yrs ago when it was discovered that, unbeknownst to us, one of the charities was then passing money onto the people's law office, which was representing thugs suing Chicago Ploice Officers.
Now I give nothing through the CPD, other than the CPMF ( I know many aren't fans but I personally know of Officers helped tremendously by them), and instead donate to charities of my own choosing.
Be safe boys & girls!!
Clearly not related to Sherlock Holmes!
Sounds like hes making up crime. This guy is another media whore. He was standing behind the the supe along with area central dets when the dets cleared the 12 yr old girl's murder. WTF did he have to do with the investigation? Did he find witnesses? Did he make the offender turn himself in? Hell no!

Old terry hillard used this dept just like the politicians have done, made millions and don't forget he is also connected to taser international where we buy tasers from! Wonder what Terry's take is?
Morrison provided complimentary investigative services for the Cook County Republican Chairman Aaron Del Mar who wanted his ex-wife followed and photographed. Made for some not so nice headlines in the Sun-Times. Both Morrison and Del Mar were Democratic party activists and supporters (Del Mar was a Hillary fan) who changed stripes when they moved in suburbia and began shaking down the GOP for cash.

It's easier to make it up than to really dig in to all the corruption in this city and state. It is lazy.
Now we know where the 200 Nigerian girls are. 63rd & Kedzie. Great work Andrew. #Bring our girls back!
Hey, don't be too judgemental yet. There was a building in Mt.Greenwood that had numerous Chicago Cops and Firemen living there, years back, that had an active prostitution ring working out of it, just doors away from them, right under their noses.
I have dealt with Holmes on more than one case. He is on the news a lot, which is suspect, but he has also passed on info in cases no one cares about.
The one thing I get from Holmes is that he is all about locking assholes up. Like everyone else, when he started he didn't fully understand why so many violent offenders stay on the street. He now knows without a doubt that the lack of cooperation from the community keeps violent offenders free.
Even after this realization, he has stuck with it and I think that deserves credit. He works to get witnesses to come forward and when they won't, he passes the info on himself.
He doesn't have all the answers. He still doesn't understand why street information alone won't lead to an arrest. But, he tries and he doesn't blame the police when he's on TV.
Don't be so quick to bash the man. We have a lot of enemies in this city. He isn't one of them.
When people call the police, can you honestly say that you always respond? If you cannot, you have no right to bash this person or anyone else who calls you for service, and yet receives none. I've called several times over the years, and half the time my brothers in blue never even showed up. Maybe the call was never dispatched? Or maybe it was blown off at the street level? Either way, if it's frustrating for a fellow officer, you can imagine how it feels to a citizen. We shouldn't be so quick to judge others.
Morrison Investigations, Inc is owned by Sean Morrison of Alsip. Funniest thing though, Sean Morrison is NOT a licensed PI. He is not even a PERC holder so he could not even work for a licensed PI. The only license he holds is that of a Private Security Contractor and even that proved too complex for this goof to handle as he took a hit on that license in 2004.
Don't judge all PI's by the likes of Ciolino, Morrison and Holmes. Many of us learned the craft in LE and took it up full-time upon retirement. That alone means little but just remember that the co-worker whose skills on the job you admire just might be the PI you deal with tomorrow. If you think they lose all knowledge and scruples upon retirement, you're a fool.
As for Andrew Holmes carrying a firearm... If you catch him, you can lock him up (unless he happens to have a CCW permit in which case he's only in violation of the licensing regulations) as he does not possess a Firearms Control Card from Professional Regulation.

Yeah, really. I can't think of any crimes that MUST be reported other than eavesdropping (well, we know where that went recently) and offenses involving children and mandated reporters such as teachers, doctors, cops, PI's, etc.
Color the OP as clueless or maybe one of the Hair Gels who THINKS he knows it all.
Where is our Human Trafficing Unit, are they non-existent, why don't we hear about their arrests from the press?
Is this the same illiterate Holmes dude who is always on tv at high profile crime scenes. Who is this character? It seems he likes the Police and means well, but why him all the time? What's this, he has a vehicle with M plates? Who is his china man? I see him eating at McDonalds a lot on 95th and Commercial by himself. Any more info on this guy?

No one, with exception of sworn police officers, are obligated to report crime or to do anything about crime. That fact has been established through the courts. And, that goes for private detectives also. It seems that a lot of police officers really do not know what a PI does or can do or what their obligations are. One of them is the fact a PI does not have to tell a police officer what he is working on. He is protected by state law in that regard. Also a fact established by court decisions.
Book Him Danno!

Yes, that's exactly what it means! How perceptive of you. You're analytical reasoning skills are acute! And we thought we'd never see another human with a brain whose abilities approached those of Albert Einstein. And yet here you are! You are amazing! Maybe YOU should replace GMac, that would surely solve all of our problems!
That was all sarcasm, by the way! And your point seems to be confirmation of what was stated earlier, that some calls get blown off. And you are likely one of the guys that blows them off. That's part of the reason Chicago is going down the tubes- people like you, who don't take their jobs seriously. How unprofessional of you.
Morrison may not have a PI license in Illinois, but he does not need one. He can either have someone in his firm who has the license and use that one or he can "rent" a license by paying someone who has the license so the firm can do PI work. As I recall, there is a connected security company who does a lot of work for the city and park district who " rented" a contractors license for years. It is the Illinois way!!
All I've ever seen Holmes do is be a friend to the police. Try to help. Never once seen him side against us. Even when the neighborhood assholes were crying bloody murder against us. Yet, he gets bashed on this blog. Then, some of you act as though you don't understand why so many black PO's don't trust their non-black coworkers. If Holmes were some white guy, always at crime scenes, encouraging people to contact police, you'd be going on about how standup of a guy he his. But when some of you see him...you only SEE him. As much as I love this job, it always pains me when I'm forced to ask myself how my non-black coworkers would see me, if I weren't wearing the same uniform they wear? That's a fucked up feeling, considering, how protective I am of them when we're on the streets together. I'm that dumb ass black officer who sees no color except BLUE, when I'm at work. But then, again, maybe I'm just being naïve.
