- Four people were killed — including a 15-year-old boy — and at least 15 have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday night.
The 15-year-old boy was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. He was shot in his chest and under his arm about 3:40 p.m. in the 200 block of West 116th Street, police said. He was taken in to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. His name was withheld Sunday evening pending notification of his family.
About 1:35 p.m. Saturday, a 25-year-old man was shot to death in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. Xavier Tripp was walking on the sidewalk in the 4100 block of West Adams Street when a vehicle pulled up alongside him and an unknown number of people got out, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

If gang banger families kill each other it's sad, but in reality, who cares? This is the life that they have chosen. If it takes out women and children that they have brought up in the culture of violence, it is of their own doing. I have very little sympathy. Tragic, but certainly a fate of their own making. Their lack of cooperation with authorities attempting to solve the crime speaks volumes.
There is not a police force, a mayor, a superintendant, a revrun that can stop the carnage. Cant we just pull out and say we tried ?

This morning's Tribune had a story about an individual shot after he pointed a handgun at a police officer. Very interesting that a female PO was carrying an AR 15 type semi-auto rifle with no magazine in it while guarding the crime scene. No magazine in the rifle? Why carry it? Just asking.

Thats news to me.
I hate to say this, but the next few years are going to make the roaring twenties of Al Capone seem civilized. Main thing is to stay safe, watch your six and protect your partners and the thin blue line. Be safe out there, we know they are armed to the teeth. See you all next week after I get back from D.C.
Many more people need to be at work on weekends and evenings. Too many people not working, or working straight days, Monday thru Friday. Less people on the streets = less shooting victims.

The reality is that the people of "white" Chicago don't care. You know the area, the lake front north of McCormic place, south of Irving park, and east of western ave.

That is true, however, on the West and South side those people who are disgusted law-abiding tax payers are the exception to the rule. The exception.

The Mexican cartels are already branching out into other, legal industries -- coal mining, construction...they have increased the price of limes and other produce here by extorting and killing growers.

For the lack of police resources on the northside, you need look no further than Rahm. Rahm prefers to pour money into downtown, tourist attractions and various other projects intended to merely pander to various blocks of voters. Stop with the generalizations, all southsiders and westsiders cannot be painted with the same brush though that way of thinking clearly makes you comfortable. Neither I, nor many of my neighbors,
have hoisted any misguided youth on society. Many people are still responsibly raising children, even on the west and south sides. You need to get out a little more.

I agree with a lot of these post that we do not have the manpower on the northwest side like we do on the south side. I work in 016 and another part of the problem is you have a large percentage of officers that either don't know what they are doing or are lazy. This is where we live you need to get out of the hole and do your job.

The time is now for cpd to hire civilians as evidence technicians and forensic investigators , high priced ET's.
Let the police work beat cars and leave crime scenes to civilian evidence collectors , photographers .
The reality is that the people of "white" Chicago don't care. You know the area, the lake front north of McCormic place, south of Irving park, and east of western ave.
Those people have no clue what the rest of Chicago is really like. Their lives never wander to those neighborhoods. They just see reports of the violence on the news; it may as well be another report from a battlefield in Afghanistan.
As long as violence is a lifestyle in the ghetto, the killing will never cease.

Stop perpetuating the "West of Western" BS. I live in a very nice neighborhood west of western as do several other CPD, CFD and teachers. Our beat has one of the lowest crime rates in the city because we watch out for each other and we have good beat cops we've gotten to know.
Frankly I have had enough BS and now paint the west and south side with the same brush as islam and terrorists. "Oh. its not all of them, there are so many good ones who condemn the violence too" BS..BS..BS. Just like islam, no muslims are standing up to be counted to DO SOMETHING about the "evil few" and help eliminate them.
Same in the south/west sides. Nobody is doing anything to clean up their community other than useless marches, not call the fake revruns on the carpet, or claim its 9.5 or the coppers or even my fault their neighborhood is a shithole
Until the south and west sides stand up and be counted, identify the real problems we all know are the reasons behind its complete dysfunction (and it aint lack of education or jobs..try a complete broken sense of family or moral code)you aint getting any sympathy from me.
You want sympathy? Go look in the dictionary, its between shit and syphillis

...and a big fuck you to this. Belmont on the weekends, on ANY night for that matter, is turning into thug's paradise. Crime is spiraling out of control all over the city, because the resources that used to be spread around, are babysitting and wrangling the wild savages on the west and south sides. Better yet, just let the body snatchers work double time collecting evidence.
That way when your friend or family member is robbed, raped, or killed you can watch the entire case go up in flames at 26th street when your civilian ET is unavailable for court because he's moved on to a job at a McDonalds out of state or, even better, he's actually there to testify in his typical ghetto garble and the jury finds NG in 20 minutes.

Not once in all my years of reading this and through out years of hearing the black community complain of lack of officers have I ever seen ANYONE suggest police officers be taken from the northside and distributed throughout the south and west sides, never. No one cared. Police officers suddenly start being transfered to west and south side districts, north siders start to get their Iphones snatched and all of a sudden we aren't worthy of police presence. Like I've stated on here before the black community has stressed that the city HIRE more officers, not take them from where they are needed like some in the white community suggest it should be. Working, raising my children(you also expect me to raise everyone elses children on top of every other responsibility) and paying a mortgage certifies my right to have police in my neighborhood just as much as it does for you.
You have no sympathy? I, as well as countless other black and hispanics are just.the same as other fuck ups in the city? If I was as small minded as you I'd share the same feeling. Not give a rats ass about the decline in police presence in your neighborhood. I was in Israel last year on vacation and saw that the Israeli Army constructed a 50' high concrete barrier wall that separates parts of the West Bank from Israeli national territory. I thought to myself what a great fucking idea for Englewood. Wall the whole place in, put in a couple of guarded access gates, and pull out the police. Then the City can declare this a self-governing homeland and forget about what happens behind the walls.

I- Dart and Toni-Tony shop for their clothing from the drop boxes of clothing for Goddwill. 3. You want to bring the CPD back to the real deal CPD. Call for Wysinger to be Supt. Al' hands are tied now with that drunk sitting in the chair. Al might not be a bull shit artist like the drunk when speaking to the media, but Al will police out on the streets with you and he is the last of the stand up bad ass bosses. I am retired and Al is one bad ass dude. He will not play with no fucking Rev', etc.
Rahm will lose Al soon if he does not get rid of the no liver Supt.

Some of the most satisfying times I had on the police department were when after apprehending an offender, the black homeowners would come out and thank us for watching out for them.
