- Summer Moore was planning to celebrate Mother’s Day with a family barbecue.
Friday night, just before 8 p.m., the 37-year-old mother of three was shot and killed, apparently by a bullet meant for someone else, according to the police and relatives.
- A 37-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were killed and four others were wounded in separate shootings across the city Friday night and Saturday morning, according to police.
Of course, the spin will be "Shootings are down, but their accuracy is up. We better get rid of the blog."

Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers out there. And some of you are Real Mothers!!!!!
Just a thought on the urban culture on this special day. The contemporary hip hop culture refers to birthing females as “baby’s mommas.” How derogatory and demeaning in this culture. Not to be confused for a mother. Baby mommas give birth for additional government checks or catch a pregnant case from some stud that has no intention to honoring any obligations or commitments after the dance. No caring, loving family structure just an added inconvenience or an additional member added to an already dysfunctional section 8 funded so called "family" unit.
I grew up in that area back when there was a golf course driving range at 115TH & Halsted. That was a quiet peaceful neighborhood until about 1983 then the older folks with Morales started passing away and the drugs started to infiltrate the area.
I remember the Venture Department store and when McDonald's was at 117TH & Halsted.
Those were the days of peace.
R.I.P. Ms Moore may God have mercy on your soul.

No matter which side of the political/social pendulum we fall I think people should see this film and draw their own conclusions. I was not going to write to you until 46:40 into the story. Sad that it happened to her, but her family was no help. Christ hospital had to go on lock down with the help of evergreen and oak lawn pd. Family members kept yelling, stone to the bone, showing who they support. By no means did this lady deserve to die but the family should step up and cooperate as much as possible.
There appears to be a different mentality, they will just take care of it themselves. Can't really blame them it's not like anyone, other than the po-PO goes to jail in this shit county.

Aw, Christ. Sympathy switch just went off. If your family is a bunch of hardheads and bullet magnets with all kinds of s__t going on -- if they don't care about you enough to keep they bidness at a safe distance, I'm just too tired.

Chicago is averaging 8 people shot a day. Please explain to me exactly what more of us can do on the north side that we already aren't doing out south and west? I know the shortage the north side is experiencing and in no way am I downplaying it, but what do you expect will happen that isn't happening every where else?

Just stay on the northside or northwest side and everything will be fine. Its spreading,but not that fast. There is nothing more you can do.
