Thank Goodness!

We wondered when some politician was going to do something about this out-of-control criminal activity!
  • Arguing that there are “a lot of weirdos roaming around,” Chicago aldermen moved Friday to close a local legal loophole that opens the door to an insidious practice known as “upskirting”: using a cellphone camera to secretly take video or photographs up a woman’s skirt or down her blouse.

The Finance Committee approved the crackdown at the behest of two powerful aldermen—Finance Committee Chairman Edward Burke (14th) and Education Committee Chairman Latasha Thomas (17th).
What would we do without the Finance Committee stepping up to the plate? This needs IMMEDIATE attention you know:
  • Thomas acknowledged that she knows of no “specific instances” of upskirting in Chicago. But she’s not about to wait around for it, either. Not with entire websites devoted to the term.

“I was shocked to have state supreme courts saying you don’t have a privacy right when someone takes a picture under your skirt. Just to make sure there’s no question in Chicago, we went on and did that,” Thomas said.
Nothing like anticipating the problem and doing something about it - even in the absence of a problem...or a single instance of the problem. And pay no attention to this contrary article by the Tribune:
  • But an Illinois state law that went into effect in 2005 makes it a crime punishable by jail or prison time to videotape or transmit live video “under or through the clothing” of another person “for the purpose of viewing the body of or the undergarments worn by that other person without the person’s consent.”

The ordinance proposed by Burke and Thomas has identical language, but instead of carrying potential time behind bars only allows for a fine of up to $500.
So the aldercreatures write an identical law for something that might happen one day and drop the penalty from prison to $500 bucks. That's fucking BRILLIANT!

Now how about passing something concerning Chicago's inability to pay its pension obligations, which by the way, are required by Ordinance, Contract and State Law.

Hey SCC, maybe the expected financial WINDFALL OF FINES collected for this new municipal ordinance can all be directed to bailing out the various pensions!
Kind of like the lottery sales being slated as to be used only to salvage our education system here in Illinois...right?

Can you say "revenue generation"? You write a local ordinance violation ticket to the perv, he avoids jail time and the City collects $500. Safe to say that the aldercreatures will be looking for lots more of these opportunities to duplicate a state law with a local ordinance that has a big fine as the penalty.

Should just write the ordinance to say that if someone up-skirts you without permission, you can beat his/her @ss and be done with it. Nothing like good, old fashioned street-adjudication.

So a man was interviewed for TV News today who was at a rally to stop the violence in Chicago.

Rahm Emanuel and Father Pfleger were @ the rally smiling away like it was a big deal and look at them.

Anyway, the man said and I quote: War is hell, street war is social.
Do you get it?? And the jerks standing there...Rahm and the Father included, kept on smiling. And the rally folks will get money too. Bet on it. We are doomed.

I agree with you SCC - with ALL the issues facing Chicago, this is NOT a priority issue.

How about fixing the number of Aldermen in city council to 20?

Now THAT would bear some positive results, not to mention a REAL cash savings that could be directly paid into pension shortfalls from the day it gets initiated.

Cut 30 Aldermen and their total compensation and ward discretionary money out of the budget and put that money in shoring up the pension.

Chicago 20 by 2020. Come on - this could be a BIG campaign!!! Let's get behind it!! Where are the Bumper Stickers?

A tad off topic but if anyone has time please read this article about how the state is strongly considering reimbursing CPS parents for so-called transportation costs along Safe Passage routes? A state senator from Maywood believes that taxpayers should give money to parents of kids who live along Safe Passage routes to hire someone to drive their kids! Another nonsense subsidy that will 100% be abused. Oh, I'm sure mom is gonna use that money to organize a car pool. This is another fine example of paying for votes. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/politics/clout/chi-safe-passage-reimbursement-measure-picks-up-steam-20140523,0,7571401.story

Leave give the silly council credit, where credit is due. The plastic bag ban passed unanimously passed. Now this. No aldermens is caught up in federal investigation or have jail sentences pending. Why that’s good news. The aldermen are getting paid full time wages for part time work, so they must be doing something right. Good for them. The city’s bills getting paid, so all is well. O.K., maybe not the legally bound contractual pension obligations. That kind of stuff is a different type of non compliance law or breach of contract legal mumbo jumbo.

John Kerry served as a powerful democrat senator and served as the U.S. Secretary of State. He married a billionaire wife. He served in Vietnam. He almost won a presidential election. He is what this democrat had to say about the veterans of Vietnam and Iraq:

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." --John Kerry

"American soldiers [are] going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the - of - the historical customs, religious customs." --John Kerry in 2005

"[American troops in Vietnam] personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, [blew] up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to...the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country. ... There are all kinds of atrocities and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed...." --John Kerry in his 1971 testimony before Congress

Anywho, I'm sure some of these revrunds who Are capable of being on the news every night, every "chiraq" documentary etc, should have no problem rounding up some church busses and driving neighborhood kids to school.

Just a thought...

Have the hunger games once a week in the top 10 crime ridden blocks across the city. One rule! Can't leave that block during the games. Any and all people living in that block must participate.

Winner becomes the block club president and has the right to take ownership of any properties they can lift over their head with both hands while standing in the ground on both feet.

The game goes on from 10pm est until a winner is selected. Cost of pay per view is $40, in HD it's $60.

Have the state of Illinois set up an online betting system. Out of state betters are welcome but must get a permit for $10.

Charge knife gun sport drink clothing lotion etc companies to promote their stuff.

We'll make money.

There was an incident in 017 District school where a student took a cell phone picture up a teacher's skirt. RD generated, expel, etc. It's a shame you need a law for this.

If I did that when I was going to school the pic would have broken the camera. Old guy here, my teachers were nasty.

Honoring Jayne Burne would be great.

And honoring Jane Byrne would be even better.

Most of the aldercreatures are perverts themselves. The few who are not perverts are criminals.

"Now how about passing something concerning Chicago's inability to pay its pension obligations, which by the way, are required by Ordinance, Contract and State Law."

You don't understand!

By enacting this ordinance, with the heavy fines that are attached thereto, the city council is going to fund the pension finds fully!

Silly, SCC. Just silly, silly, silly.

Off topic. Rahm was run out of 003 today at the anti violence fest or whatever it was. He was literally booed until he tucked his tail between his legs and ran away.

Nice try, but I was there. He got into it with some folks who were there but he didn't get "run off" as you imply. I don't like him either but the truth is the truth.

Not to alot of posters on the blog, it isn't. Their comments fit their agenda, not the truth.
