- If anyone listened to zone 4 last night they would have heard that the boyfriend of a young couple was hospitalized after getting the shit beat out of him at Van Buren and State by a couple "urban" youths. That multiple car and store windows on North Michigan Ave were smashed by "urban youths". That there was a massive fight between "urban youths" on the Red Line platform at State and Lake that shut down the line. That there were multiple thefts of purses, laptops, phones, etc. by groups of "urban youths" celebrating the holiday.
Golly gee, those "urban youths" sure know how to have fun. Rahm, you've done a wonderful job of making the downtown area so family friendly and inviting. I can't wait to bring my friends and family down to experience the great urban culture that is Chicago!
One might argue that their own neighborhoods are locked down, so they come downtown to commit their mayhem. However, we see where 007, 011 and 015 are leading the city in homicides, so it can't be locked down that tight.

This was posted in an earlier thread. I assume it was sarcasm, but it made me think:
We didn't need someone checking our activity a few years back. We knew we collected a paycheck and were expected to do the job we were paid for. What happened to us?
I hear more guys bragging about how little they do than what great arrest they just made. Guys that didn't pull their weight were at least ostracized, if they weren't called out in the locker room or parking lot.
When did it become acceptable to steal a paycheck? How are these guys any better than the welfare cheats we see? You are just stealing at a higher rate.
Don't tell me everyone does it. Don't tell me it's the way of the world and no one gives a hoot anymore. Don't tell me it's because of the politics in this town.... and please don't try to rationalized it to me or the kids we leave this world to.

SCC, I was recently at the academy for training. News affairs gave a presentation. New affairs didn't even try to hide, in fact they outright stated that the CPD or anyone who works for the city is not allowed to give any bad press about the mag mile or anything near it.
CPD news affairs is now part of the propaganda machine. I can understand if they put out fluff pieces for the media about good things that officers do. They should do that. Not reporting crime on the other hand to me almost seems criminal.

Was supposed to go downtown this coming Sunday for an Architectural Boat Tour, but decided not to. A group we belong to arranged a tour and luncheon.
When I saw how much it is going to cost me - the actual boat tour, the lunch, and parking (not to mention mileage and tolls to get down there, I decided, "we ain't going".
Kiss that revenue good-by, Rahm. Now multiply that by 100 or 1000 and you start to get the picture.
My plans for this Summer? Avoid Chicago.
10%+ sales tax on anything you buy, $30-$48 parking, inflated prices for admission fees for any museums or other venues with the threat that there might be Wildings going on? No thanks.

I agree with you totally. As a retired police officer, I would not take some of these comments by malcontents seriously. they do not represent the majority of police officers in Chicago, who, even though they are unhappy with the leadership, go out and do their job every day and every night.

Going to Radio shack and buying a scanner radio is becoming a thing of the past. Everything is going digital ( and digital scanners are close to $1000) or is being encrypted. Rahm can't stop any zone from being heard as it goes over open airwaves.Get an Iphone and you can hear the zones for free. you can also listen to Detroit or NY police calls if you want.
To the off-duty cop who watched the CTA employee diss a tax paying family: did you confront the employee? They should have been confronted. It's so symbolic for what is happening in this country to taxpayers.

Glad you put the correct spelling of your hero. You must have put it to memory from all the letters you've written him. You're so lovely!!!!
No one needs to be washed up on some beach at Normandy to prove their grit. How quickly you forget Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf wars. Ask those generations how much they appreciate the tender loving care at the VA hospital, from your generation.

'Miedzianowski' is certainly NOT my hero and is where he should be.
Now why the rant about previous World Wars?
NO ONE in my family, filled with Veterans since WWI has ever forgotten any of these events and served proudly in all except Korea.

Next time read the whole post-you, which I doubt are a P/O must make your Sgt nuts trying to makes sense of your written reports and rambling...

Yeah. You've missed a LOT on the news. A buddy of mine who works the crime beat for a major urban daily tells me these stories are routinely spiked. When he asked why, his boss told him "leave it alone".
