Rahm Found More Money

  • Hoping to persuade some of the city’s more established arts institutions to create large scale cultural experiences that will engage residents and eventually attract tourists, the city of Chicago today announced a new grant program.

Unlike the city’s existing cultural grant programs, which give money to individual artists or smaller arts institutions, the IncentOvate Program is directed toward more established organizations. Museums, theatres, dance companies and other organizations that that have budgets above $3 million can apply for the money to pay for arts events and projects.

“We’re not looking to pay for a museum to keep the lights on,” said Jamey Lundblad, a spokesman for the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. “We’re looking to fund something brand new and innovative that will engage the public. We’re really asking folks to think big and think of new ideas that will advance the cultural tourism strategy and Chicago cultural plan.”
In other words, they're looking for the next "Cows" exhibit. Notice how they say "engage residents and eventually attract tourists" in the opening paragraph. Something that screams "Chicago!" and highlights the rich cultural history of Chicago's many neighborhoods.

Perhaps they can somehow work crime scene tape and bloodstained pavement into the exhibit. Maybe decorating ambulances?

Maybe some of these artsy places can take the money, stitch up some really nice artsy uniforms and hire their own off duty PO 's to actually make it safe for people to go downtown and see their artsy places. Who the hell would want to venture into the city especially with kids when its not really safe to spend a few hundred in food, parking, red light tickets, speed cameras , Amish people, pan handlers, piss bums, etc. take the blinders off Rahm.

When Emanuel reneges on the City's legal obligation, in blatant violation of local and State law, will SOMEONE please publish the tally of NEW 'programs' and 'grants' and 'construction projects' and giveaways that he has ransacked from the TIFs and SUE HIS ASS personally and the City, as an entity, for deliberately and criminally decimating those funds, so as to make the money unavailable to meet the 2015 balloon pension payment?

Instead of governors, maybe we can start a new initiative of putting our MAYORS in prison for their blatant misuse of public monies and for violating the public trust.

Maybe Rahm is finding little envelopes full of cash stuck to trees and under park benches, like that guy is doing out west.

Or, more likely, he's spending like a drunken fool who plans to run like hell before the bill comes due.

No one can deny that the mayor is a cultured person, deeply appreciative of the fine arts. Tourists love classy cultural events and the arts.

Where them big head, fifty foot clowns at?

There ought to be at least one of them with their head lodged in their ass up to the shoulders...

>Squeeky-Sqooky Squeek!<
Another freshly twisted balloon critter of distraction...

Rahm's Carnival of Fuckery

A fucker squirts lemon juice in your eye while another steps on your foot and shakes your hand while yelling "Cousin! Long time no see!" while another blows in your ear while yet another has cut the ass-pocket out of your pants and is gone like a muthafuckah with your wallet...

Ain't no pity in Rahm City!

Heh... As Gran'-Dad would say: "There go that bullshit I've been trying to tell you kids about!"

I keep saying the city should bring an amusement park back to the Chicago and share the profits with a private developer. It could chip away at some of the Six Flags profit.

Call it New Riverview!!

That land where US Steel used to be on the south side is ideal to put some roller coasters. It would be cool to have a roller coaster that even goes on the lake.

Charge $50 per person for entrance to keep out the rif raff.

Put the profits back into city coffers to pay for PENSIONS !!

And still, police have no contract, no pay raise in over 2 years. And a crumbling pension. Wow are we pathetic. We dont even try to do anything about it.

How about promoting some ET's. Ordered one the other day and waited on scene for. 3 hours. No kidding. More bodies needed - or how about putting them back in the districts

Wait a minute - they announced this at the recognition lunch. The city is going to do police horses like the cows. Seriously, they had one outside the doors to the hall.

They have it. They announced it at the awards ceremony luncheon. Horses. Plastic horses. They're going to decorate them, put them out like the cows and then auction them off. True. That's how fucked up this city is.

From post at 04:57, they can put the new riverview close to where it use to be on the land that the Belmont/western police station use to be on that Rahm closed to save money. Oh wait IT NEVER CLOSED OR SAVED MONEY.
Nevermind. Mayor also to put in a skate park near downtown too.

Maybe some one then could build another castle not far away like H.H. Holmes did and lure some of the "Cousins" in. That would give Michigan Ave a break.

We're looking at something new (hahaha) by giving the old established organizations with budgets over $3 million dollars even more money, grants.

The grant money can be raised by ticketing 11 y/o's that tried to set-up a lemonade stands in their driveway and fined under the Illinois "cupcake bill"

Talking about picking the winners and losers geeze!

This is how we attract future entrepreneurs! LMFAO

Rahm's "Choose Chicago" NW univ marketing B.S. then goes around speaking of the Sanctuary Cities high tech start-up initiatives trying to B.S. new grads to come here.

You want the culture of Chicago on display. Look no further than Chicago Tags pictures on Twitter

"Put the profits back into city coffers to pay for PENSIONS !!"

=============================

Naw man, Chicago corporations have already figured that they have won as the pension funds will be cut.

Therefore, now that that debt is out of the way, it's time to demand more tax breaks!

Think I'm joking?

Google "Walgreens HQ move" as the lil' terrorist are set to hold the city hostage using jobs for tax breaks. Threatening moving the HQ offshore.

Google "Motorola Mobility closing" Austin smartphone factory, cutting smartphone prices 10, 20, 30 percent and sales are still soft and the sale of the company to China's Lenovo.

How did Rahm's tax break for Motorola work out?

How many more stores will Sears be closing and what's the tax package on the table for them..

Naw man, if this city gets any money it's not going to the pensions. Naw. it's going to be different this time. They're going to give the money to the multi-million dollar corporations using the tired ol' saving and creating much needed jobs bullshit.

Do you really think that the new owners of Motorola mobility are going to stay here without tax break incentives.

Start the pool on when Motorola leaves town.

Not to mention the revival of the Illinois Amazon Tax that has Rahm's tech darling show piece Groupon on the ropes with it's stock price slightly above it's 52 week and all time low price -- and a 75% loss from the first trades on the open market.

Rahm's working really hard to "find" money to properly fund our pensions that he's trying to diminish....NOT.
This slippery, arrogant, condescending asshole has no intention of ever properly fulfilling the city's obligation to our underfunded pension. He repeatedly has said he will not find extra revenue for our pensions until he gets pension "reform" aka cuts.

I think we need more bike lanes, a large annex to Maggie Daley Park etc.
You know we can afford to splurge on these Rahm pet projects because everything else is properly funded..... wait most necessities aren't properly funded.
Rahm you are a misguided asshole.

So. The State of Illinois money crisis is all over too yaaaay!

Illinois Legislators vote themselves a pay raise

Lawmakers will see an extra $3100 in their paychecks beginning July 1

As part of the new budget, Illinois legislators will be taking home a fatter paycheck than they have for the past few years.

Voting to do away with a 4.6 percent reduction in salary that the legislature instituted in 2011 and renewed each year since, lawmakers will see about $3,100 more in their annual paychecks beginning July 1.

State Sen. Dan Kotowski, D-Park Ridge, sponsored the original pay reduction bill in 2011 in an attempt to cause legislators to feel the pain of cuts just like various programs throughout the state were dealing with. This came in the form of 12 furlough days.

This year, Democrats carried the majority for reinstituting base pay.

The average state lawmaker will receive just short of $68,000 annually from this point forward, after being closer to $65,000 for the past three years. Legislators who also chair a committee receive about $10,000 on top of their base pay. There are more than 25 Senate committees and 45 House committees.

The job of Illinois state representative or senator is considered part-time.

***

State Rep. Mary Flowers, D - Chicago, stood firm against the idea that the state's financial struggles should keep legislations from taking home more money.

"We were not responsible for the economy going down. We are not responsible for the loss of jobs or increasing prices on education and food," she said. "We deserve a pay raise because we work hard and serve our communities proudly."

"I make no apologies. If we were keeping in concert with inflation, this pay raise should actually be much higher than it is."

Ha ha yes, I can see it now: "visit beautiful Chicago, where you can enjoy enriching cultural events while dodging bullets and avoiding roving bands of inner-city youths bent on mayhem". Chicago is such a fun place, who wouldn't want to die or be mugged here while enjoying enriching cultural events? And you get to pay $40 to park your car while you're doing it! At least you can still get a sandwich at Potbelly's on LaSalle for $5, as long as you're a cop or don't mind leaving your gun in the car while you dine.
