"What is Rahm Going to Do About This?"
- A 51-year-old man was killed and another man injured in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side, two of six people shot Friday, according to family and officials.
The shooting happened at about 6:30 p.m. on the 4200 block of South Princeton Avenue, according to fire department and police officials.
[...] Not even 20 yards from a busy stretch of West 43rd Street, police had covered a body with a tarp, an open hand still visible. Nearby, evidence markers sat outside a pool of blood.
Detectives spoke outside yellow crime scene tape with Norine Taylor, who identified herself to police as the sister of the deceased victim. She identified her brother as 51-year-old Charles Short. Records indicate he lived on the block.
"What is Rahm Emanuel going to do about this?" Taylor yelled through tears to nobody in particular.

We have created a certain segment of society who refuses to take responsibility for the actions of their own communities. A mayor can't stop people with murderous intentions from killing one another. While I'd sure like to see more coppers hired, hiring won't make a difference in keeping murders down. I came on in the mid 80's and there were years when we had 13,000 or so OTJ and there were 700-800 murders. You cannot police your way out of this problem. The use of extreme violence is too ingrained in some minds.
Think about the 15 yoa girl that killed the other 15 year old over the boy on Garfield Blvd a few weeks back. The conflict resolution tool of choice? Shoot that bitch. How the fuck would 3,000 more coppers affect that mindset?

It's not 300X... It's the clueless/deer in the headlights Commander who has dismantled EVERYTHING that Glenn Evans put in place. We have seen an overwhelming increase in shootings and Murders... This guy is so worried about nonsense like if District is in a Rap that he is missing the overall Picture! There is a Violence problem in 003, don't you get it? If you take control of that (like Evans did) then all your numbers fall into place. on the budget, not even worth mentioning compared to the overall size of the city budget.
Your property taxes won't be going up because of the city share. They will be going up because of the increases in the CPS share(51%) the Water Reclamation District and the Cook County increases At best the city share will rise 2% and there share of the property bill is only 18%.
You are looking in the wrong place if you think thats whats causing an increase in yiur property tax bill.

Well let it begin... So I was screwing around just now on the city website at home and on the human resources page you can look at the freedom of information act log. The log tells you who filed it, what date and a short summary of the purpose of the request. so, Im scrolling down and what do I see??? A foia request for a list and number of officers who passed part one of the Sgt exam and moved on to part two. The requester is a chicago police officer who is a minority. the reason for it is civil action. So, Just so you know im sure there is a group of officers who are planning the poor me im discriminated against BS lawsuit to tie up the process. I will not name the officer just initials of P.S. who I do not know, but if you google the name he shows up as a chicago police officer and also has a viewable facebook profile. Hey, if he wants to file FOIA why cant we do a little research of our own too on the internet???? If you dont believe me go on the city website - human resources section - FOIA request LOG. You will eventually get to it. If you took the test, as I did hang on im sure its all about to get screwed up..... again

My hat was knocked off in the scuffle our idiot former Inspector D.C. wanted to admonish me or even SPAR me for it. So Buffy and I were walking with some out of town friends (Barbie, Ken, Muffy, Skipper, Trixie and Trevor) down Elston on Saturday night when we heard firecrackers. Imagine our embarrassment when we found out the next day there was a shooting in our neighborhood, and Trixie asked us when we were going to move out of the ghetto.
