Ghetto Lottery will be working overtime on this one. All of the persons involved in this crash including the dead guy are going to be suing the city for $millions because the police were chasing the car.

You are the reason why why are screwed. Thanks for giving the lawyers an idea for new clients. This blog is been monitored by non police personnel as well. It never ceases to amaze me the idiots we have on the job. Did SCC mention anything about a car chase? Why would you leave a comment like that? Do you know and hate the officers who were involved? Do you think everything turns into a law suit? Please think!

Typical savage mentality, risk everyone else's life just because you are a piece of shit and you don't want to take responsibility for your actions. Rot in hell savage, hopefully the innocent people who were injured by this asshole will be OK.

No. You have to have a working phone number where you can be reached.

A landline was never required. (it was just assumed, since cell phones didn't exist when the policy was written) The IAD case that changed the policy was an investigation I worked on about fifteen years ago. I submitted the case as not sustained, my boss argued with me, and I won the point. The subject of the investigation had a cell, but not a hardwired home phone, and I made the case for the fact he was actually MORE accessible by phone with a cell than he was if a home phone rang and rang and he wasn't there to answer it.
So, unless the rules and regs have been rewritten since I left, you just need a valid, working phone number.

Actually a majority of the these types of cases are won by the city. Too much case law,as well as scotus, that supports law enforcement when an offender flees in a vehicle. The onus is on the person fleeing not law enforcement for chasing. Of course certain variables will affect the case but most lawyers understand this and are unwilling to take the case since if they lose their clients won't be paying them at all. Especially west side clients. Can't use that link card to pay for a lawyer.

Police were chasing a car on Kedzie a few years back, no one was injured because every one heard the sirens and did not move. After a few minutes, a car sped past with the police pursuing. I have noticed many people pay no attention to the sirens and flashing light on emergency vehicles and that is when accidents are caused.
