Yeah, About Those Stats....
Word from the comment section:
- ........and COMPSTAT has been cancelled this week while they figure out how to spin this one.
Not only that, we might actually have more homicides than last year:
- There are also several "deaths" waiting to be reclassified to homicide pending. However, now the Area Det Divisions have to wait for the approval from 35th St before doing this. Those approvals are not coming. This is a big change in operations.
Can the poster(s) cite specific instances? We know that at least one local magazine would be more than happy to have more proof of the blatant manipulation of crime statistics.

April had 8 murders that are not being counted.
I thought the local news/magazines supported the mayor and city government.
Here's a prime example of a death investigations that should be a homicide:

You don't need approval from 35th street to reclassify a death investigation to a 0110.
It can be done by the detective .
It's much more difficult to reclassify a 0110 BACK to something else.
McCarthy's on vacation this week, that's why it was cancelled. Relax.
SCC - We have 160 homicides so far this year, which includes 7 PO-involved.
One "death investigation" that hasn't been classified as a homicide yet was the beating/robbery in Lincoln Park. Word is they're still waiting on the "science" - http://www.crimeinboystown.blogspot.com/2014/06/jacob-klepacz-case-long-wait-for-science.html

Jacob Klepacz. Beaten to death on Fullerton. Everyone says it's a murder. CWB blog is covering it. It's still a death investigation.
Yea like the homicide that took place in the Sup's building where a 80 yoa lady somehow fell down trash shoot that she could barely open because of the weight and then must of been able to jump up in the air and fall down shoot. Dick's were told accidental. Somehow no cameras either at building probably so they don't show him stumbling home every night
I wish someone in the administration would just man up and admit that some people are out of control and the only way to stop them would be deadly force by the police.
"...reader's FOIA request also sought department-wide manpower numbers. According to the department, there were a total of 12,029 officers of all ranks in the Chicago Police Department as of May 15, a decline of 137 officers since February."

Soooo, that's about what...roughly a 1.1% decline in officers over a four month period? Since this is now June the department is likely already under 12,000 and falling.
off topic:
anyone know who was picked from the D-Unit to train for the polygraph or was this just a ghost job opportunity.

Don't forget the unsolved murder of the young female bartender out of his old building. Never solved. No information on the man that fell from his balcony, or the cat and dog that fell from their balcony from his old building.
Curious. Sounds like the work of a serial killer.
After all the speculation it seems he is having a procedure done. Let your imagine run wild!
