Talk to Us! Please!

  • A month after Nanci Koschman filed a federal lawsuit accusing the Chicago Police Department of botching the investigation into her son’s death in order to protect a nephew of former Mayor Richard M. Daley, the department sent a letter to one of her lawyers.

Would she talk with internal affairs investigators, the department wanted to know, about the death of her son David Koschman?

The police last spoke with her 10 years ago, after her son died from a punch thrown by Daley nephew Richard J. “R.J.” Vanecko — one of only two times the police spoke with her.
Seriously? Does anyone think IAD is going to hold someone responsible? Does anyone seriously believe that any sort of discipline is going to stick? There were way too many big feet, big hands and big calls involved on this one to adequately lay blame.

The system failed, there's no other way to put it. It failed due to the direct and indirect interference of merit appointees, clout spots, political expedience and a "don't rock Daley's boat" thinking.

It isn't that IAD doesn't want to place the blame somewhere - it's just that they can't. It isn't even possible to point at any single instance or person and say, "That's where the buck stops. That's who is to blame." It can't be done. Mrs. Koschman is better off letting her lawyers do all the talking from now on.

IAD opens up a CR automatically on every lawsuit filed against an officer. Good attorney's will never have their client participate with an investigation. That's usually how it plays out. They save everything for the civil depositions that follow.

If the Dets, LT, commander etc all did their jobs instead of stonewalling and taking files homes in the hopes of denying access to the files, the case would have been properly investigated, arrest made and timely trial convened.

I said it before and I'll say it again. The chain went down like this: a call went from...

Mike Masters - former Asst to the Mayor for Public Safety. Now head of the Cook County Emergency Management. Who called...

Phil Cline - Former Supt of Police. Now head of Chicago Police Memorial Fund. Who called...

Hiriam Grau - deputy Supt of Investigations. Now the Director of the Illinois State Police and former Deputy Director of Cook County States Attorney Investigations. (Remember Anita Alvarez wanted the State Police to handle the investigation, knowing her former employee Hiriam would KILL the investigation). Who called...

Chief of Detectives. Who called...
Commander of Area 3 Detectives. Who called...
The Lieutenant of Area 3 Detectives. Who called...
The Sgt of Area 3 Detectives. Who called...
His men from the Area 3 detectives

So the BIG SHOES ARE MASTERS, CLINE, GRAU.

The news tonight said IAD wants to talk to her, but she's already told them - through her attorney - she won't be talking with them.

Let the civil court figure this one out...so far the court of public opinion has brought the case this far..even though its been 10 long years. If the case went the 'natural' way, the outcome might have been very different for so many involved.
Off Topic: Hope Gov. Quinn vetos the Emanuel bill which will lower City Retiree's pensions and raise City Property Taxes.

That;s enough to make Phat Phil Cline hungry for a prime steak dinner. Gibsons, Ruths Chris, watch out, a hungry big man is a'coming over to graze.

Hey, isn't it about time for Phil Cline to get a raise over there at CPD Memorial? He's been scratching out some supplemental retirement income there on a measly $130,000 or so a year. (plus his $130,000 a year pension) The man needs a Cost of Living increase; or maybe in Phil's case, a cost of prime beef increase. ...hey, pass the A1 sauce, will you?

Almost $20,000,000.00 spent on defending all those involved in this cover up. Looks like the city is doubling down on NOT pursuing any form of discipline against these officers who covered up a murder for the Daley crime family. Bravo guys, well done, you sold your soul, no you gotta live with it.

I doubt that any of the retirees on the list are worried about a CR. However they are worried about punitive damages. That settlement last week where officers were required to pay punitive damages had to be unpleasant news for everyone on that list.

Walsh and Dean the Dream should be made "Examples" by suspension , 30 days pending. Rule violations were clearly and blatantly shown. Removal of evidence from a police facility to interfere with an investigation; forget 30 days, Walsh should be indicted. But because these guys are "wired", the tax-payers will pay millions and these guys will walk away with pensions, because they know too much.

The pathetic part is even though the city has at it's disposal the city's largest law firm, the City of Chicago Corporation Counsel. It's still farms out millions to outside law firms, as noted in this article. Why isn't that ever reported? Are the city's own lawyers just a bunch of connected mediocre attorneys who can't make it in the competitive legal world? Or is this more pinstripe patronage ?

This is bullshit on IAD's part...

Just a "fact finding" mission to see what she knows and when she knew it so they can pass it on to try and queer the civil precedings,

This might be where we see some fun stuff like Anita Alvarez stripped of immunity and exposed to great financial and legal peril?

Everyone involved got put in a horrible spot. Speak up and you'll likely suffer massive fallout from the machine. But nobody did speak up, and now the entire department looks like a bunch of daley fudge packing supporters who want to protect him. Hard to imagine not one person went to IAD with what they knew and had this all documented. Document, document, document. Your only life-saver should the music stop and you be standing without a chair. Let em have it Nancy, prayers to you and your family. To all the cops who had nothing to do with this, most civilians do not hold you responsible.

Civilian post

Sayeth the brazen whore sucking outlandish dick through the confessional window...

An extra large order of FUCK YOU and a side of fries to go with that.

Why SHOULDN'T this woman be compensated?

Every rotten, clouted, cock-sucking, Police impersonating, pension & paycheck stealing son and daughter of a bitch in this sad and sorry shit-show whose default setting was "Protect Daley At All Costs" should get sent to the fucking gallows to hang for their collusion.

That goes for CPD exempts and the State's Attorney's Office.

The other crying fucking shame is that the taxpayers will be on the horns for the bulk of the settlement.

True justice would be having the Daley Inc. Democratic machine (Yes... The Chicago & Cook County Democratic apparatus) blown the fuck up and it's assess liquidated to make Mrs. Koschman whole...

At this point in the game, why the fuck not?

These assholes have inflicted many times their body weight in misery on this city.

The cover up began with the initial investigation. All those involved who are currently employed were asked to re open the investigation and see if something was missed.
The so-called cover up began with initial investigators and state's attorney's, not with those who are currently employed.
All of you who are commenting about those which are currently employed are just showing your lack of information and ignorance...
