Sports as a Strategy

This is great! We've already typed up a proposal and forwarded it to McSummerStrategy, so you can't steal our idea:
  • Criminals are sports fans too.

That’s one of the theories behind research showing that on Monday nights when the Bears play, crime in Chicago drops 13 percent on average.

Crime also fell 7 percent on average during Cubs or White Sox playoff games and by 2 percent during Bulls televised playoffs, according to a working paper by two doctoral candidates at the University of California, Berkeley, Law School.

Looking at Chicago’s minute-by-minute crime reports, Ryan Copus and Hannah Laqueur found that the biggest drop in Chicago crime during a sporting event — 26 percent — happens during the Super Bowl.
We are hoping to begin negotiations with the NFL, the Bears and Rahm to run the season out to 42 weeks, all Monday Night games, 2 bye-weeks and a four week playoff run, culminating in the Superbowl, then right back to a 4 week preseason. We'll try to time the Superbowl for the midst of the killing season, maybe around Independence Day weekend.

We're surprised at the tiny 2% drop for the Bulls, but we suppose they aren't what they were during the 90's. The Cubs and Sox playing baseball is a crime anyway, so we're willing to write off their contributions.

Funny how crime drops when the Cubs, Sox, and Bears play, but no mention of the crime stats when the Blackhawks play. Then again, the demographic in question aren't big hockey fans, are they?

This Friday the newest plan will be unveiled....
The Safe Summer passage for Persons of Interest Violence Reduction Initiative Vigil. Approximately 100 officers will be allowed to sign up for this each night as long as you have had one felony disorderly conduct since your last rating. The uniform will be the cargo pant and baseball cap on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday it will be the 80/20's. Every day ALL officers assigned to the Safe Summer passage for Persons of Interest Violence Reduction Initiative Vigil will wear a bushy grey fake mustache and speak with a Jersey accent. At the conclusion of the tour all activity numbers will be completely made up.

So what you are saying is that if we add a couple more teams, we should cut crime down? Another football team? Maybe a new (and winning) baseball team?

Based on the research, the city should be fining the Cubs for being a perpetual losing team that directly adds to the crime rate by their chronic losing streak.

Maybe that is also another revenue stream? Fine losing teams for adding on to the Chiraq effect.

The Cubs owe the city big time and should be fined at least $1,000,000,000 for their contributions to an elevated crime rate.

Yes - there is merit to this research. Following the Cubs and rooting for a losing team adds to the crime rate.

Brilliant. Let the Cubs move out to another city. It will be like getting rid of 15% of the crime.

If they have another losing season, we can fine the Bears this year as well.

What am I supposed to do with this info? How much was spent on such a dumb study? How come crime doesn't drop during school hours, volunteer opportunities in a neighborhood, food drives, job fairs, parent/teacher conferences, high school graduation, etc? Oh yeah, because the only time these animals put their legally held weapons down is for Monday Night Football.

Great proposal SCC and that reduction is
probably due to the fact the the
potential victims are at the sports
venues that you mentioned so the
"perpetrators" don't have a great
selection to rob and steal from.
Success with your idea and be sure to copyright it before someone else
tries to take credit.

OT -- While your electric bill skyrockets...

Chicago wants to light up 'iconic metropolis' for tourists

6:41 p.m. CDT, June 4, 2014

"Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s latest idea to boost Chicago’s tourism numbers involves finding a company to light up city bridges, buildings, CTA platforms and other locations to hopefully “transform the world’s opinion of Chicago” and convince people to visit and stay here longer.

"The city has put out a request for proposals for a “city-wide lighting framework plan” to highlight Chicago as “an iconic metropolis.”

"Bidders should particularly consider ways to light up bridges in the city over the Chicago River, the riverwalk, the CTA's elevated train system and Lower Wacker Drive, according to the documents released this week by the Department of Procurement.

"The city also urges those interested to come with plans to light up “iconic structures,” listing Willis Tower, Aqua Tower, the modern wing addition at the Art Institute and the Frank Gehry-designed Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park...

"It’s unclear how much the lighting network would cost, how much electricity it would use or how the cash-strapped city would pay for it..."

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-chicago-wants-to-lightup-iconic-metropolis-for-tourists-20140604,0,5676380.story

This, while older people with health problems sweat and die in the dark, afraid to turn on an air conditioner, afraid even to open a window because of what might come climbing in...

...but no matter. Ezekiel Emanuel says that they have had "complete lives" and are worthy of no further consideration...

Just add 5, 000 more teams to the N.B.A. Think about it. You can solve inner city unemployment. As an added bonus you can reduce crime according to this study. Rahm sees a win-win. Rahm is dreaming of a press conference which includes his righteous stance against pillow talk from Donald Sperling. This will take the heat of Rahm’s daily murder drama occurring with frequency in impoverished areas of government responsibility.

“Like killing two birds with one stone” is a statement a self proclaimed gang member made to local media. This statement was forwarded to C.P.I.C. An alert bulletin was sent out by C.P.I.C. in conjunction with the Deployment Operations Center (DOC) analysts that intelligence has been received that the Black P-Stones are planning a double homicide. Homan Square gangs are on a heightened alert status and required to work a complete tour of duty. Uniformed officers will be required don their appropriate head covers when conducting official business.

Cant be requirement is that you have to take the test to be promoted. Put her name out there so her senioroty can be checked. If you dont want this to be checked and proven, then stop the rumors. There is no loyslty if she cheated the system and every other CPD officer.

No way CPD and HR would do this. Call FOP is you know this is true and lets see what Dean will do.

My guess is she has more than 5 years and took the test in 2006
