78 TRRs?

We got an e-mail that says in addition to the 77 people shot this weekend, nearly 80 TRR (Tactical Response Reports) were completed this weekend.

For the non-police readers, a TRR is completed when an Officer has to use force necessary to effect an arrest or force is used against an officer. They aren't usually filled out for foot chases and such (unless you have a really shaky boss), but in the event of TASER deployments, impact weapons, fist fights beyond what one might consider "normal," and when an assault or battery is committed against the police.

Seventy-eight TRR's would seem way more than normal, but we don't have anything to compare it to, and we aren't about to run what we could lest we be accused of improperly divulging Department data.

Anyone have any idea if 78 TRR's is a lot?

78 sounds like a lot but hopefully there's more information. To me as a stats guy, I'm curious about:

*average TRRs per week
*average TRRs per district/week
*average TRRs per beat/week

I think this would be another metric that if you didn't have fucktarded bosses, that they'd be able to use this to better staff districts/beats better. But if there's anything I've learned from reading this blog it's that things rarely if ever make sense in CPD leadership.

It's highly probable that two-thirds of those were completed at the behest of those "scary" bosses.

Of course 78 is too many; one is too many. It's just like if have 78 unwanted weeds in my garden, especially on it's south and west side. The most effective way to deal with them is to forcefully uproot each and every weed out of my garden and toss its dead carcass in the trash. If they come back, it's best to just spray it with the most lethal weed killer that I can openly carry.

I believe that is a high amount or TRRs but not overwhelmingly high. If u think about it, that's roughly 3 per district for a whole weekend. Figuring that the weekend consists of 3 days (9 watches per district), thats 0.33 TRRs per watch. That doesn't actually seem like a lot at all, especially when agg assaults to P.O.'s (threats / no contact) requiring a TRR / OBR are counted into that number. I know some south side districts can sometimes get 5 or 6 TRR's on a winter weekend, so I can only imagine what the summer weekend TRR average is in a busy district. Either way, these scumbags are out of control and we need to be careful and watch each other's backs. This job and this city is not worth getting seriously hurt or losing your life for.

Thursday-Sunday ? No, not out of the ordinary for trrs. U have all the districts, units sat and gun teams that's not a huge amount. Also consider all 3 watches that's less than one per watch if adding in units and sat teams

"They don't shoot up here"

(How naive)

via http://capitolfax.com/2014/07/07/chicagos-security-priorities/

Monday, Jul 7, 2014

* I wandered into a pleasant little outdoor cafe near the John Hancock Building to have lunch on Friday, and sat there blissfully alone, collecting my thoughts and peacefully enjoying a beautiful day

Yeah. Quite the place. Everything was à la carte. Even the bread was extra. I didn’t eat much.

All of a sudden, somebody set off some firecrackers down the street. Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack! Crack!

I saw some of the tourists visibly jump.

One of the waitresses tried to calm the tourists down, cooing that it was just a firecracker. “They don’t shoot up here,” she said.

* But they do shoot elsewhere…

For 10 minutes, it seemed like the shooting was everywhere in the South Chicago neighborhood....

This is proof positive Chicago Police Officers are in an everyday fight for their lives. Our society has deteriorated to the point where contempt for authority is way too common and is an accepted norm. The real winners in this equation are the civil attorneys who represent repeat active recidivist criminals. Remember, federal courts have judicial orders for the city to pay the average six figure "legal representation" bill on behalf of the plaintiff who surprisingly have no known source of income and often relies on public assistance. One of the federal judges even praised Loevy & Loevy rendering his decision that their "legal expertise" is of greater value and must be compensated by taxpayers at a higher rate by his judicial order. Who are the impediments to prosecuting criminals and who are society's true enablers of continuation of murder and mayhem? Traditional notions that crime doesn’t pay are so outdated. Criminal behavior with police intervention creates so many “civil rights” related money generation opportunities to be paid with your tax dollars.

Does anyone keep track of the Hospital costs on all these shootings?

Someone said average cost is $250,000 in medical costs per gunshot victim. Is that accurate?

Who picks up the cost - or is that absorbed by the hospital? (or spread across the Hospital chain)

If it's $250,000, this last weekend cost somebody a ton of money.

In 2010 (which is the last year the CPD provided an annual report) there were 3135 'attacks against officers', (page 60 of the report) and roughly 31% of those were during weekends. So, that means back in 2010 there would have been about 18 each weekend. (31% of 3135 /52 weeks). Sounds to me like 78 is a lot, but, seeing as we have no trends published for the last 3 years, hard to really say...

Use asp , mace and deadly force if necessary to protect yourself . Do not be a punching bag or target for anyone.
Go home safe , write every crime that a citizen wants to report . A 19-p is an atta boy for the politicians .
Chicago is short over 2,000 police officers and 100's are hiding inside office at Homan square .

The former Mayor of Hershey, PA got federal time? I don't believe it.

I didn't write that but my guess is that City Clerk Susanna Mendoza is running a very efficient operation. I had some dealings with her office about vehicle tags that were complicated by address issues and her staff solved them over the phone. (Thanks)

Maybe she could do what we had hoped that Mariam Santos would do.

You're kidding, right?

Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was sentenced to Federal Prison for 10 Years After Conviction for Trading NOLa city business for cash, trips and other favors.

Speaking of Shortshanks, his mental dementia, C.R.S. (can't remember shit) is contagious.

Laura Foxgrover, testifying as a “hostile witness” in the Emanuel Administration’s lawsuit against the owners of the Park Grill restaurant, the 45-year-old Foxgrover proved nearly as memory-challenged as the 72-year-old Daley about the events surrounding the Millennium Park deal. "I don't recall,” told Cook County Circuit Court repeatedly in response to questions from city lawyers inquiring into what they allege was her role in steering the 30-year concession agreement to the father of her child.

That is exactly how Daley answered more than 100 questions in his own deposition in this case, which his lawyers are now citing along with recent health problems in an effort to keep him from testifying at the trial.

I wonder what he would have to say about the parking meter deal.

107th & Pulaski saw yet another copper suicide. I watched the Family grieve cuz the entire lot was blocked off by CPD & CFD.
Even though we're cops we're still EVERY bit human. If U have a problem, by all means get it taken care of.
Fuck this Department and it's convoluted forms of punishment. It was God awful watching that poor Copper's Family grieve. I bet he felt like a cornered rat w/no way out but the worst way.
If U'r even contemplating an act like that procedures should B in place to where a PO can come forward w/no possibility of repercussions from the powers that be. It was sad
